  1. "Ideal" jerkbait conditions for me are anytime I can fish them effectively and they are getting bites. While I do fish them more early & late season, there's plenty of opportunity to score with them during the warmer water periods as well. I do find Some wind is often better than flat calm. And I'll throw a jerkbait over, around & near cover, just not in it. Coincidentally, I got on a decent jerkbait bite yesterday and the wind was up & down all day (but mostly up) A-Jay

  9. Bulk Mono backing for me. The bottom third of my spools (both casting & spinning) are spooled with the mono backing. The remaining two thirds of the spool is filled with whatever the main line is; FC or braid. I'll routinely use backing that is similar in diameter to the mainline I'm using on each reel. A-Jay
  10. My 'definition' of easy when it comes to knots I have to be able to tie it correctly and in a timely manner at night without a light. That said, I use a uni to to uni-knot as the line to line connection knot on everything. Tried many others over the years; always come back to it. It's always a San Diego Jam for the FC connection to hooks & baits and a uni-knot again for the mono connection knot for hooks and baits. I also use the uni-knot as my drop shot rigging knot (and do put the tag end through the drop shot hook eye before adding the weight). btw - Hate the Palomar - Hate It. YMMV A-Jay

  17. I really need to get better at locating mid-summer deep water brown bass. On some of the bigger waters I fish, the smallies pull an amazing vanishing act once the water start to warm. Finding them and then getting them to bite has been a real challenge for me. Much of the little success I have had, has been at night, super early or late afternoon deals. Sure you love to be able to locate a big school of summertime biters throughout the day. If I'm able, plan on focusing on that this summer. The upgraded electronic (G3N) should help. A-Jay

  20. For me, 'fishing' & 'catching', while inherently related, can also be two separate deals. And a few of the smaller waters I make my way back into are easily some of my favorite; for several reason. A-Jay

  24. My two favorite big fish reels are the Calcutta D and the Tranx, both in the 300 size. Guess that really isn't much help. Sorry. A-Jay
  25. Long, Long, Long before the current and latest 'pandemic', folks have been coping with the multiple and mighty challenges associated living with a spouse or close family member with serious and sometimes fatal/terminal health concerns as well as joblessness. The toll & stress is immeasurable on all involved. But the human spirit to survive is strong. The will to preserve is a powerful force. I've seen it first hand on many occasions; never ceases to amaze me. Doesn't mean it's not hard, just that it's possible for those willing to endure. We never know how strong we are, until being strong is the only choice we have. Every family needs at least one. Be The Rock. A-Jay
