"Big" bass
I am surrounded by mostly smallmouth waters. I rarely even fish for LMB here, and when I do, a 3 lber is a Big Bass. But SMB on the other hand is a different story. Waters without gobies, a 5 lb fish is a Big Bass. In the bigger goby 'infested' lakes, a 6 lb bronze back is a Big Bass. Interesting to note that most Big goby fed bass aren't particularly long. But what they lack in length, they often make up for with crazy, doesn't seem real girth; that extends all the way through the tail. I like those. A-Jay this is for @VolFan

PFD Question
The image of placing several lifeless bodies of every age and gender into body bags, has a way of burning into one's mind what happens when falling overboard and not wearing a Life Jacket. I wore Mustang Professionally and see no reason to change for recreational purposes. Stay Safe A-Jay

Anyone Here Ever Win A Boat Or A Truck In A Drawing From These Companies?
I 'won' this killer boat, motor, trailer & truck. Of course I was the only entry and instead of my home & email address, I gave up my GTO and most of my savings account contents. Still feels like a win though. A-Jay

Got a new Boat ~
9 years ago today ~ https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/175465-got-a-new-boat-~/ If there's an aspect to my fishing, that's makes a difference as to how the whole deal plays out, I have to believe that the rig I'm in is near the top the list. And the Lund 1875 Pro-V Bass and Mercury 200 ProXS have both met and in many instances, exceeded my expectations. While I'm not on the water nearly as much as I was the first few years, I still cherish each & every ride and never take this unit for granted. We've been together for several priceless memories and I have to expect that to continue. Here's a few from just last season. Finally, if you have the time & the means, and you're on the fence as whether or not to get the rig you've always wanted. I say go for it ~ now. Life is short. Fish Hard A-Jay

Landscaping Projects
Tow behind drag rake, lawn roller, wheel barrel & hand tools Along with a good amount of Blood, Sweat and Tears. And it's Big Fun Too. We approved an estimate for a Landscaper to Grade & level the 1 acre dog yard. (too much for this OG) Includes 20 yds of fill and 15 yds of screened topsoil. We'll need to re-seed that ourselves when they're done. He's still a booked out a few weeks so it could be a while. We're doing what we can while we wait. A-Jay

Landscaping Projects
Continuing to work on filling the holes & ruts while leveling the whole deal. With the first 60 bags down, only 60 more to go. So lucky to have the best helper. Good Times. A-Jay

Nice job. They grow up fast my friend. Your boy is learning from one heck of a stick. Congrats. btw, how long do you think you can stay under the radar? At some point bassheads will see your name on the sheet and head the other way. Might need to sign up last minute. A-Jay

State VS State 2025 – Let’s bring it back.
I hear ya ~ You can only go with what you've got. But if I were you and I got a fatty close to or over 8, I would certainly complete the updated application process and claim that spot with a modern day and actually accurate record. Then you could finally put that * asterisk behind you . . . btw- ensure your lic is up to date. #dontbelikeben 😁 A-Jay

State VS State 2025 – Let’s bring it back.
Now hold on one New York Minute . . . . . Looks like your state record brown bass is a bit of a mystery. What is this 'Uncertified' deal all about ? You can most certainly expect some type of official investigation regarding this Tom Foolery. Or at the very least an * (asterisk) next to your entry. https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/fishing/non-certified-weight.html J/K Nice Catch A-Jay

Working to Stay Lean ~
Workout Day 4 today. And right off the bat, I felt much more like myself for this one. Mentally, Physically, Spiritually & Emotionally. Makes all the difference in the world, at least for me. Either way, I completed 3 working sets of the 4 movements scheduled. And then, we ate. #borninfiftynine A-Jay

Lake Baccarac Lodge In Mexico
I have never utilized the services of Bass Pro Adventures so I have no experience with them. However, I will say that when attempting to plan a 'trip' to most any long distance fishing destination, (a first one in particular) from what I have experienced from other parties traveling to Mexico especially, locking up dependable anglers who can be counted on to follow through, pay deposits on time and not CANCEL at The Last minute, IS THE SINGLE HARDEST aspect of this entire evolution. There so much time, money & effort invested in just the planning of one of these trips, until one has done it a few times, the 'unknown & the $$$' scare 95% of would be trip companions away at some point. You will know when you find the right Men, as you'll not doubt their commitment. If you're totally serious and committed and your friends are not, there is very little you can do to change that. Serious bassheads are out there but they are usually a very small percentage of 'the weekend angler' group. Everyone's situation is different, but you can always contact the outfitter yourself and tell them you want to plan a solo trip. You may be the only one you can count on. Good Luck. A-Jay

Why is Shimano allergic to Limited Edition reels with color?
I like the color black, always have. Probably 'says' something about me but whatever. Where there's some color associated with my casting gear, my reels are not a part of that. Boat, Motor & Truck follow suit as well. A-Jay

2025 National Safe Boating Week ~
Year after year boaters here seem so surprised and even appauled every time people kill each other and themselves on the water. Thread has 23 whole views. Might be a sign how the subject matter can so easily be overlooked, taken for granted and even disregarded as something that only happens to someone else. We're All someone else. Stay Safe A-Jay

Working to Stay Lean ~
While still working a bit to get myself right, decided to complete Workout Day 3. It was a little on the brutal side but still glad I did it (sort of). Either way, I need a serious attitude adjustment and sooner rather than later. Because I'm about half a stride from going Postal. #borninfiftynine A-Jay

2025 National Safe Boating Week ~
National Safe Boating Week will be held from May 17-23, 2025, reminding all boaters to brush up on boating safety skills and prepare for the boating season. This observance week is the annual kick-off of the Safe Boating Campaign, a global awareness effort that encourages boaters to make the most of their boating adventure by being responsible. The U.S. Coast Guard urges all Americans to take a moment to reflect on the boating behaviors that will keep you, your loved ones, and those around you safe while on the water. Stay Safe A-Jay

Berkley 10 inch power worms hook
The 10 inch Power worm isn't super meaty, so depending on that type/brand of EWG hook used, 5/0 or 6/0 should be good. Btw, when that worm first came out, I was buying 100 count bags of the black and the blue fleck. Stupid good. Pretty sure I still have some too however I am slightly embarrassed to admit how old they are. Good Luck 👍 A-Jay

Say "Good Night" Dick . . . . . .
The front section of my lawn escaped the brunt of the storm damage. So that bit got the spring treatment of weed & feed. After replacing several of the sprinkle heads (Run over by tree removal vehicles) and filling in the ruts they made, it's starting to show signs of it's old self. Yesterday was the first cut. Sharp mower blades are essential. A-Jay

As I Get Older…
OK ~ For air temps and or wind chills on the water that dip into or below the 30's, I wear a moisture wicking (thin) base layer top & bottom. Brands are Columbia, Simms, & Under Amour. Second layer is mid to heavy weight Thermal Midlayer top & bottom (Simms) Next is a thermal wind blocking fleece heavy weight Hoodie. (Simms) Finally I cover it all up with a Simms Insulated Challenger Jacket & Bibs. The feets get Cabela's Midcalf Polypropylene Liner, Simms Men's Merino Thermal OTC Socks, and slightly oversized Columbia Titanium Insulated Boots. A-Jay
