Hello Bob and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ A-Jay
  2. Thank you Sir. Btw, you're up early today. A-Jay
  3. Looking at another "Fishy Forecast" for early morning tomorrow. Expecting a bit of wind, air temps @40 and heavy cloud cover out on Lake Menderchuck. I'll be dressed for it. Might be the last shot I get a few plus size fish until August. Sounds crazy but it's been one of those seasons so far. #wacky. A-Jay
  4. Giant Set Workout Day 3 this morning. After a fairly full day of cutting and moving More Wood on my off day, I wasn't sure what I would have in the tank for this one. Turns out I had just enough. #borninfiftynine A-Jay
  5. Hope your back is feeling better. I think at some point, we all usually figure out how important a healthy Everything is. Because everything is involved in everything. A-Jay
  6. Having success fishing for big brown bass here in northern lower Michigan, some wind is almost mandatory. Regardless of time of year. So I will say I love the wind more than hate it. However as most experienced Bassheads know, there's a line in the sand when it comes to wind. Actually there is TWO lines in the sand - too little wind and of course, everybody's favorite, Too Much Dang wind ! I have a serious addiction to fishing moving baits so flat calm water makes my brain hurt. Conversely, gale force events are no picnic either. During the entire open water season here, I am a weather forecast Hawk. I stalk the 3 different weather channels several times a day. I plan where, when and what I'll fish when I get there mostly by the wind speed & direction, as well as percentage of cloud cover. It's just part of my shtick and where I get some of the most satisfaction out of this bass fishing deal. When I can pick a date, day & time to be at a certain lake, on a certain spot, fishing a specific bait, and have it result in a trophy brown bass in my net, I feel like I have a clue. It's just how I have evolved in the sport. It works out far less than it doesn't, but I manage to get a few. Although the wind was right on the edge of fishable, it workout out pretty good 2 days ago. A-Jay
  7. I would not expect to find many if any feeding bass in the conditions you described. Especially in super clear water. No doubt in my mind, you were very comfortable and these were great days to and times to go fishing. But what about the bass ? They often use certain 'conditions' to feed in and feeding fish are usually far more cooperative. Conditions that give a bass some type of an advantage over whatever prey they are hunting. So low light, first light and even night time can be good. Overcast, some wind and sometimes just a ripple on the water is WAY Better than flat calm water without a breath of air movement. If there's some cover for the bass to get 'under', some sun might position them in somewhat predictable spots. Docks and Lily Pads could be good. If I had to fish flat calm water, I'm there a very first or last light or at night. Middle of the day might be left for yard work. Good Luck A-Jay (btw - a swimjig with a paddletail trailer sounds like it would produce where you're fishing. In the right conditions of course.
  8. After getting my butt kicked in the wind & waves on Lake Menderchuck yesterday afternoon, I was back in the home gym this morning for more of the same. Giant Set Workout Day 2 was on tap. Challenge accepted. #borninfiftynine A-Jay
  9. Thank you and You're Welcome. Happens all the time. I just needed to turn the camera on this time. A-Jay
  10. Pre-Workout Warm-Up Routine Been doing some version of this before every training session for a while. Don't believe I've posted it here recently. If you're so inclined, here it is. This one was before this morning's workout. #borninfiftynine A-Jay
  11. I've been eye balling todays pre-frontal forecast for several days hoping it would hold up and not be too windy to fish effectively. Well the forecast held up but the wind was right on the edge of what I was hoping for. It's a hike so I gave it a shot. With that warm south wind, a mix of sun & hazy clouds and water temps just under 50 degrees, I was working hard to stay on my spots and make the right casts. Jerkbaits all day. Late afternoon here is usually the deal but I was getting beat up a bit waiting her out. Diligence paid off with a sweet smallie. She had taken a poke at my bait once and got it on the next cast. That felt good for many reasons. A-Jay
  12. Managed to top my last entry, but just barely. This one was 5.37 lbs divided by MI record state record smallmouth bass of 9.98 gets me to 53.80. A 0.4 pt improvement while it is better, I still think I can do quite a bit better. Time will tell. Fish Hard A-Jay
  13. LOL ~ Yes, but I bring the house with me . . . A-Jay
  14. When you fish for one Big Bite All Day . . . . And you get it. So Sweet ! A-Jay
  15. On the water report. They're getting Bigger ! A-Jay
  16. Weather forecast continues to hang tough for tomorrow. I'm still planning on an afternoon trip searching for a very special bite window of big brown bass to open at some point. Just hope I'm able to be there and capitalize on it. This deal can be pretty rare but world class. Going to be a long night. A-Jay
  17. It's essentially a very light body workout where I use body weight, light weights, and resistance bands to get loose, warm up and get some blood flowing. I always give it it's due and never short change or skip it. Takes about 12-15 minutes of constant movements. Then for my heavier (relative term) compound lifts, Leg presses, Rack Pulls, Sissy Squats, and Step Back Lunges, I do 2 or 3 sets to work up to my working weight. Mostly to prepare my knees and lower back for the load that's coming. None of this is ever included in my video's - usually just the working sets them selves. I'll do a video of just my warm up here soon. It's really nothing special and almost any similar type deal will get the job done. But I'll show what I do and label it (and tag you) so you'll know. A-Jay
  18. Nicely Done Sir ! You're an inspiration. 40 bass from Big water, with Big Wind and in a Kayak no less. And I do love a wide open wobblehead bite myself. Heal up that hand and go again ! A-Jay
  19. All business on this Sunday Morning. Completed Giant Set Workout Day 1. Getting myself in the right mindset to take on the mental and physical stress of this training, plays an important role in my performance. A Strong mind makes for a stronger & healthier body. #borninfiftynine A-Jay

Such a good idea to throw in random commercials. Like watching an important football game. There's 2 minutes left in the 4th, very close game. It's 4th & goal on the 2 yard line - they are about to snap the ball . . . But wait . . . time for a Depends Commercial. WTH ! ☹️ A-Jay

For me, tube's are fished most effectively on a hard bottom with almost and kind of cover with the exception of perhaps dense weed. Additionally, my tube fishing is done when I have the fishes position mostly narrowed done. I'm not poking around looking for bites with a tube. A-Jay

Might come down to bottom composition. A-Jay
  23. Weather and the work list are both pointing towards Monday for an afternoon trip out onto Lake Menderchuck. Forecast is looking a little sporty with some wind, but it's 'the right kind'. Which often makes all the difference in the world. I'll admit it, I'm a little pumped. A-Jay
