Sabine River Elite series
Nailed it. I stop targeting Brown bass seasonally from June thru All of July. August is when things start to pick back up for me. And it's often pretty decent. A-Jay

Any interest in trapping?
At least you'll have less grubs in the garden. A-Jay

Wind watching question
I am a Weather Hawk during the entire open water season. Especially early and late season. Weather/Wind conditions are Second on the list of fishing drivers for me right After the season pattern. So I check it At Least once a day but when conditions start to set up in my favor, it's more like every few hour of my waking day. Yup. I have a problem, but at least I know it. A-Jay

The decline of our lakes.
I hate hearing this but it seems this deal is repeating itself more & more recently. While it's happened sporadically on a fairly small scale up here, I'm hoping to avoid the wildly devastating and more wide spread stuff for just a few more years. A-Jay

Sabine River Elite series
Agreed, especially since this one made history as the lowest winning weight ever recorded at a Bassmaster Elite event. And that's saying something. ☹️ A-Jay

Length of the Average Fishing Trip
Depends on the season for me. Either way, my favorite big fish waters all include 3 hours (give or take) round trip in the truck. So I need to leave enough gas in my own tank at the end of every trip to get home safely. Falling asleep at the wheel is not an option. April & May on the water trips are usually 5-6 hours. June & July I'm usually on small water in the canoe and that's far more casual so they can be a little longer. August & September is another time for Plus size fish. First light bites can be epic and if there's wind/cloud cover I'll hang around til noon or so. October can be similar at times with a bite that lasts all day. More important to me than single trip duration, is my ability to be on the same water as many days in a row as I can. Or at the very least every other day for a week of so. Being able to stay on or with the bait & or the fish has proven to be super helpful and often times make or break deal when it come to putting the kind of bass I'm always looking for in the net. Working to Stay Lean ~
Workout Day 2 for this one. Completed 3 working sets of each of the 4 scheduled movements. Compared to my previous effort, I was able to pump up the resistance a bit. Either way, I always strive to have the last rep be as clean as the first. #borninfiftynine A-Jay

Anyone else reconnecting with mono?
I like and use plenty of mono but almost always as leader material. However I see no need to be singular in my fishing line needs. So I use a little of everything except braid on casting reels. For me that's like crossing the streams in Ghostbusters. 😎 A-Jay

You know what the 'roads' are like up here. Tree lined FOR MILES. Now it's just an endless view of ugliness. Super sad. It really is. A-Jay

Best Line Strippers
I've been using one of these for a while. Super basic, fast and effective. Especially when I have several reels to strip line off. Seems a bit over priced now, especially for what it is. https://charkbait.com/products/line-off-line-remover?srsltid=AfmBOoowIjOKZCxLHSxsaD3xnUKaR_BVQozAAA8P268NtLrO657Kkjxj A-Jay

anti-seasick tips?
The advice offered in my first response here regarding not eating spicy food before a trip out onto the open ocean, was not that this would somehow be a cure. Instead, it's because Komodo Dragon Chili rarely tastes/feels as good coming back up as it did going down. A-Jay

How’s everyone spring going??
Been a mostly hectic and wild spring here. Insanely destructive ice storm dropped thousands of trees on 168 boating access points in the 12 surrounding counties, including the one we live in. The Boat ramps were finally cleared and opened several weeks AFTER pre-spawn bite started. Don't want to sound like a whiner but it Really was giant downer; still is as the clean up here will take most of my time. The few times I did manage to get out, I mined up a couple of the brown bass I always hope to find. My next realistic shot at plus size fish will be in August. Going to be a long summer. A-Jay

Working to Stay Lean ~
After enjoying a couple of much needed off days, I was back in the home gym for Workout Day 1. While I actually like the Inverted Cable Rows, starting off with a Leg Press always gets my attention. #borninfiftynine A-Jay

Solving Line Stretch: Heavier Hybrid or Braid?
Try going to 15 lb and see how it goes. IME - you'll still get all the bites with a small bump up in line test. After all, my A-Rig has 5 paddletails, looks fairly ridiculous, and when the smallies here hit it, they just about rip the rod out of my hands. Either way, when using FC or mono, my best success comes when I remember to REEL THROUGH THE HOOKSET. When I stop reeling and go for the Hollywood Hookset, I don't do so good. Best of Luck A-Jay

anti-seasick tips?
Anti- Sea Sick Tips ~ Nothing works for everyone ~ Some folks get sick - some do not. I've never witnessed a chronic sea sick person who sudden got over it because they use some special remedy. It's the motion of the ocean and sometimes if it's hot out on the water that can contribute. But cold weather events are also quite common. My advice is to not drink alcohol for a few days in advance of your outing and definitely not while underway. Follow your normal routine but eat mild, non-spicy foods the day before. Stay on deck, keep the wind in your face (unless you're actually chumming it up) and don't stare down at the ocean/waves. Try not to focus on not getting sick - Good Luck ,have fun and please say hello to Merrill for me. A-Jay
