  1. As a life long New England Patriots fan, there is NO Doubt, I have been spoiled. Although there have been several long & dismal seasons back in the day, over the past decade plus, this team has been generally very competitive and fun to watch. This season is no exception. Looking forward to todays game and I'm hoping for a couple of things. First, that there is no controversial video reviews at all. Just straight forward plays. Second, Hope that there are no injures to either team. Clearly a lot to ask, but win or lose, I'd be nice to have the best players decide the outcome - not the back-ups and especially not the human in the video review booth. A-Jay
  2. Very Nice Selection right there ~ A-Jay
  3. That's pretty Cool ~ A-Jay
  4. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Thank you for your input. Since starting this thread back in November, I've decided to go with the Optimax 200 L. The Lund has a tall tramson 25inches and the 200 XS is not offered in that length - the 175XS & the 225XS are but not the 200 hp - weird but true. I'm planning on completing the order mid-March. Congratulations on your new boat ~ you must be completely STOKED ! A-Jay

  6. Something I never take for granted but certainly count on. Between the kennel outside and the free roaming pack inside - Good Luck. A-Jay
  7. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Interesting introductory post. Nice eye. A-Jay
  8. I threw the 8.0 around a bit last season. I like the bait but I'd say it's at the very top end of what I'd fish on that rod. After some trial & error I settled on a 6'10" MH Graphite stick & 17lb mono. I'm usually semi-target casting with the 8.0 so for me a slightly shorter rod works. The fast rod & the slower line felt about right. Only took dinks (with a good attitude) but see it has potential. A-Jay
  9. I Really Like this stick as well - got a couple of ebay myself - that's a killer deal. Cranks & lipless All Day. A-Jay
  10. Hello Grant and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Cranking for me happens is different conditions. Although the final objective is to illicit a strike, hook and land a bass, there may be other factors regarding the line choice that dictate which one I use. First, I don't use fluorocarbon (it's a hatred thing), So it's either mono or Braid. When it's about getting a bait deep, I like thin braid & a leader on a glass or composite rod. When it's about getting a bait through grass, I can go one of two ways - either mono & a graphite stick, or braid and a leader on a composite rod. For open water applications, either presentation method works for me. Incidentally, much of my top water treble hook bait presentations are fished in a similar fashion. So Sorry for not offering a single definitive response here, but for me there really isn't one. A-Jay
  11. Yup - btw - I've never been a barefoot fishing kind of guy ~ more of a camo Keen Sandal wearing type dude. Plus it doesn't usually get super hot here. A-Jay
  12. I drove white boats for a Long Time, although the colored stripe was cool, It ended there for me. Of course, didn't really matter if I like it or not. Wish they had a real tree camo option . . . . . A-Jay
  13. My Brother in Law made a sort of pilgrimage to Kentucky recently and sent me this pic. I still waiting for the invite. A-Jay
  14. The final color decision has yet to be made believe it or not. Thank you for your input, as always I do appreciate it. I am a fan of black. My last three trucks, including the current one were/are black. And I know all to well the challenges that come with it. Still, I do like the red too and since I'm selling the Red GTO to help with the Lund Project Funding, I could justify it that way. Still, I am leaning Back to Black. Maybe I could get a Bass Resource Wrap on it. A-Jay
  15. First of the year, I spent a couple of days down at the Ultimate Outdoor show just outside of Detroit. Good amount of it involved crawling all over & into the new Lund 1875 Pro V bass. Got to see both the standard "Bass Boat" model & the XS model the OP so eloquently reviewed above. Went specifically to see this newest Lund. There wasn't anything I didn't like. Plan is to order one from the dealer up nearest me and I'm leaning towards the standard (non XS) version. I like the larger back deck it provides as well as the storage under the 3 bench seating. Other solid selling points for me include the all aluminum decking and water control system that channels water from storage compartments. The fit & finish on the boats I saw was very nice. There were some good deals to be had at the show including very attractive base model pricing as well as "Free" electronic package offers. I've been waiting a long time for the right boat for me, my area & my style of fishing. Any new boat built of a new model has concerns but I'm going to bank on the Lund reputation and go for this one. Pretty stoked. A-Jay

  17. I wish - but in that spot no matter what I throw I always get one of these . . . . But totally pulls some wicked drag . . . . A-Jay
  18. OK, I'll admit it. It was a really LONG Cast. A-Jay
  19. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ I have & really like the Okuma Guide Select Series Big Bait Casting Rod Look at the 7'11" Med Hvy GS-C-7111MH A-Jay
  20. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ As smallmouth bass begin to fatten up for spawning, its common for anglers to catch their personal best bass in spring. After a winter of low activity, smallmouth bass in rivers tend to become more active with every increase in water temperature. River water temperatures can change quickly depending on weather and it can be difficult to know from one day to the next how the bass will behave. They can be energetic and aggressive, going after just about anything that moves or they can be in more of a winter pattern and not want to chase a bait. This is probably the hardest part of spring fishing. There are several factors that make this tough. First is water levels. When water levels are rising from spring rain or snow melt, bass will move out of current and locate themselves close to banks and protective cover. Once levels begin to drop, they will tend to spread out and move in between their wintering holes and closer to spawning areas. Don’t let stained, high water get you down. Find areas where creeks come into the main river or look for clearer water and fish along the edge of this line. Eddies, banks and wash out areas behind islands are great places to search for bass. I like to use a search bait until I find smallies and then run through a few different presentations to see what they favor on that day. Options for search baits in spring include spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, crankbaits and throwing a tube or other weighted soft plastic jig in a particularly fishy looking location. If you are not getting bit in a short period of time, keep moving. When the water is stained, a slow rolled spinnerbait can be the ticket to a great day. Keep it moving just enough for the blades to spin, You want to feel the bait bumping along the bottom and get ready to set the hook. Bass are often near the bottom of the river in stained, high water. Once you find some active bass, pick apart the area with different baits to figure out a pattern. Once you find your pattern, begin to use that as your search bait until the fish tell you otherwise. A-Jay
  21. Snow's going to make travel to the NFC Championship game part of the story for Players, Fans & Media alike. Charlotte Douglas International Airport in NC passed that today all scheduled operations have been canceled for American Airlines, Regionals, Delta, United, Southwest, Lufthansa, Air Canada, ViaAir and JetBlue. If you are a ticketed customer on another airline, you'll need to contact that airline before leaving for the Airport. Passengers are encouraged to remain at home if their flight has been canceled. Bummer. A-Jay
  22. I was doing pretty good there for a while. Then after seeing some pictures here of Mutant Mexican bass, I made the mistake of making that first trip. Everything's been all kinds of out of hand ever since . . . . A-Jay
