  1. 1. The type of song will not reflect the bass line, it's how it was recorded in the studio that matters. The frequencies that are forfront in the mixing room will be the same on disc. Define the bass you like. -muddy,boomy-sub bass -tight/stiff- bass/mid-bass I see it all too many times when kids want to "bump" and think subs are the way to go. That stiff, tight thump in your chest is not produced from subwoofers. These frequencies are produced by the mid-bass drivers. Don't skimp when you buy seperates folks. The subs just pick up the accents on the mid bass so if you are aiming for BUMP and get BOOM, you are trying to achieve a certain sound but are concentrating on the wrong frequencies. If you need a song to dial your amps into that has a strong mid-bass line, check out Dream Theater-images and words , song #6. There are certain reference discs out there also if you are not up on frequency tuning. Makes all the difference in the world. Systems need to be constantly tuned. The more intricate the system, the more often it needs tuning. Now I'm not talking about tuning the song in,...On my system, being so sensitive, every song has it's own settings to creat balanced sound, but on top of that, the amps are all adjusted in the spring and again in the fall when the thickness and speed of the air is drastically different. Bass Mechanix is a great tuning disc. So, in short, before trying to figure out which songs bump, make sure the system is tuned properly. I could give you suggestions but the songs will falll flat on their face if your mid-bass isn't up to par. Harnessing the mid-bass properly is the key to a bumpin system. Also, sounddomain.com has an incredible forum with a whole section dedicated to "bumpin' tunes". "Old man Zif" is a mod there and an old friend from the national competition scene. If you need specific help, PM him and use my name or just PM me back with any questions you might have.
  2. Welcome aboard! I'm in RI, perhaps we could share a few Partagas' this summer! ( I like the square ones!) Where are you in Mass.?
  3. I'm familiar w/ the aqua-vu, a "graph" is another word for "fish finder". Maybe you need a stronger one, many of the lower power ones mark everything as a fish.
  4. Include a pic of yourself. Companies want to know what you look like at a minimum.
  5. Perhaps the hook had been deeper or near a gill and when the hook was set, it tore from there and lodged in the mouth. Hmmm,... Was this fsh released? If so, swim away fine?
  6. And get out of that shallow water!! All our fall/winter fish have been coming from a minimum of 15 ft.
  7. no, remember, it is moving but not in relation to the horizontal OR vertical water colum. I would suggest, as Catt touched on, that you keep it cloer to the bottom than normally.
  8. Many graphs mark fish where there aren't any. Perhaps a new graph with higher power. On the salt boat i just sold, I had a 5000watt finder. (Furuno) This thing was so powerful, you could drop a few small pieces of herring over the side and watch them fall to 300 ft. This marked everything you could imagine including thermoclines. It also could identify species by density. Pilot whales and giant bluefin are very close in size but bluefin show up green and pilots show up yellow. HUGE HELP!! The downside is that it cost me almost 6k.
  9. Good selection but,...no deals.
  10. Wow, The carp we have here ( at least the ones I've seen) aren't quite so big. That one would be a touch bigger than my carp PB. The3 number 1 lake for them here has had some difficulties in the last decade or so. What did she catch in on?
  11. Noone jinxed anything, you were delussional from the beginning.
  12. Awesome Pic! Are you telling us that you didn't re-rig that thing and slide it back out there??? :-/
  13. Yup, there will be plenty of laptops there, you won't even notice we are gone. (except for that pang of jealousy you may feel, lol)
  14. GW- Lane and her husband are one of our advertisers. They own "Sure Life", a maker of live release formulas such as -Catch & Celease - Please release me
  15. Check out this slice of Americana. When I was first shown our lake (25 yrs ago), I had just gotten my license. We would drive out there, buy shiners along the way and continue getting addicted to bassin'. This place is so cool, you show up any time, 24 hrs, ring the bell on the shed and you'll see Teds bedroom light come on,.....then the bathroom light,.....then (2 mins later, lol) the hallway light and then Ted would appear in person , jovial and excited for the 2 guys at his back door at 3am. Great guy. He also has a frog/cray pond that he would harvest often when I was a kid. Not anymore. I was AMAZED to see Ted this fall, been years since we bought shiners and we ended up cleaning out the regular shop so we figured it wouldn't hurt to go check Ted in the shed, see if he's even still alive. (He was in his 50's when we met). Here is a short clip of our last visit to TED IN THE SHED!
