Wanna master worm fishin'? Try it my way...
Way2slow-You got my pulse going.... Very similar to popping wood or a rock or the bottom or a weed with a crankbait. That "quick release" is often a trigger. As with many of these worm presentations, Way2slows method is also deadly with a jig.

video footage needed-Kistler
Trey Kistler has asked me to make a testimonial video for Kistler rods. If any of you "video ready" anglers have footage of yourself using a Kistler rod and would like to be in the video, please send the footage to my email. Thanks, LBH

Do any of you have one particular fishing partner
I fish with alot of different people but for frshwater, that would be Eric, Dirk Jig_Lure. For saltwater, capt. Kevin Dailey from the "Fresh Dailey" (my old tuna boat)

Wanna master worm fishin'? Try it my way...
Why don't you?? Because trial and error has taught me to know better. Remember, I know this particular lake very well. These decisions are the ones that get you to the next level. Concentrating your efforts and time on eliminating "dead" water and dissecting prime water. I mean, everyody has their own way, right? We both could be doing it all wrong,..lol

I also tend to slow down my plastics retrieve. I usually switch over to plastics as spring warms the waters and once it's warm, the fish tend to want it slower. The bigger ones anyway. I like to think of it as a jig down there sometimes, just trying to "shake it in place" without moving it and then as RW stated, a smooth 1-2ft sweeping motion and another jiggle. No hit? Get it in and try again. I never throw, however, where I normally wouldn't. The places I am fishing are strategically chosen. Fishing where the fish aren't does me no good. I can understand if it's a new lake to you and you are exploring but once I have a topo or any depth/bottom knowledge, I apply what I know and avoid those "non high potential" areas man do I love plastics

another night fishing question
fatboy-when you search, search in tournament with "dark side" as keywords Techniques, baits and such are the same at night, main differences are that those deeper fish are in that specific deep water for a reason. Right now on my lake that reason is because there is grass at the depth and a prime flat aside it. They move out of that grass and roam the incline of the bank venturing up onto that flat to feed periodically throughout the night. Find the right place,..the same places your bigger bass come from during your daytime trips and sit it out. The bite can come on like a feight train and stay till the sun comes over the trees or it can never seem to happen as in your case last night. Find places you know the fish will come and build camp. When it's feeding time, they will come to the restauraunt,...be ready to serve Crazy facts *I don't use black and only black, any color will do as long as it's any version of black, brown or green *I don't go topwater crazy. I test for a topwater bite every hour or so and adapt from there. *I don't own a jitterbug (no reason, they work fine but so does lots of stuff, there's no magic night lure. Again,..same baits I use during the day) *I havn't thrown a spinnerbait in years but when I did, they worked just as well as the did during the day, but again, nothing magic. *You bet,...senko style baits work just fine at night,6 and 7" are fine but not neccessary. *I don't put huge rattles on everything. In fact, it's still clear waterI'm fishing, most rattles are removed. *I use a small headlamp for connecting batts, knots and hook removal. Other than that, get to honing your night senses. As the sun rises, you'll be amazed at how tuned in you are. Good luck, stay with it. Catch 'em up!!!

I'd like to just take a second to speak about the "bigger" duties of running an event. First and foremost is the fund raising. This is the first thing you appoint to people and get them on it asap. For an event with 40 kids, the cost is $2500. Wal-mart is on board with $1000 for each event but you need to go there and request it. The rest will come from area businesses, clubs and organizations. Again, all you have to do is ask. One thing I personally found was that companies (banks, insurance,co.'s,etc) set their budget usually in Dec or so. Many organizations are very willing to donate but they need to be contacted ASAP, before the budget is made. Another biggee to discuss is the "Telecom Pioneers". This is a group of retired telecommunication personell. This group has just made contact with cast thru my event and has asked to come on board nationally and help with every event from here on out. These people are amazing!! It's imperative that you contact your local T/P chapter president and get them on board. These folks take right over and will help with anything you ask. For my event as an example, they are doing ALL the food, face painting, and helping with goodies for the grab bags. That's ALOT! Just a couple bigger points I wanted to bring up for anyone considering. Again, to Muddy,Ron, Alfred and Kathy,...orientation info is on it's way,...THANK YOU so much from all who will be effected!! Wow, you guys are awesome!! Kathy, should I have Art send you the orientation info? ok guys, Muddyman in Pa. and Alhuff in Va. have stepped up to the plate and have requested orientation packets. Anyone in their vicinity who wishes to participate/volunteer should PM them with your personal info. I'm blown away, in one day, should everyone who has showed an interest decide to hold an event, we will have set in motion a plan that will effect over 600 people!! AMAZING!! BRAVO!!!

Who introduced you
to the wonderful world of fishing? My first time was with my nana and my dad. Using a handline off a bridge. Then my dad took me to opening day of trout fishing when I was 5. It's been a long, fantastic road!

drift anchors-who uses them?
And what size? Was reading the wind post in "General" and was wondering if I'm a rare breed. (no wise cracks please) I have a 12 ft jon and use up to 2 drift anchors. I use the ones for a 14-16 ft boat. smallest you can get and having 2 really lets you aim your boat and slow it right down when drifting on a windy day.

Wind ! How often....... ???
Maybe it's because I grew up fishing the ocean. Not much on our 223 acre lake that's gonna keep me off wind-wise. Usually, the windier the better (up to 25 or so, I'm in a jon) Anything over 15 or so, It's 2 drift anchors off the bow or anchor up on the leeward sides of land. Some of my best days are when it's blowing but yesterday, it couldn't make up it's mind where it wanted to come from.

Wind ! How often....... ???
Funny, I was in the same boat yesterday. RW called and asked why I wasn't on the water so I got to explaining. Everyone knows I always preach that "The wind is your friend" ever since buying drift anchors. Well yesterday,2-4am,the wind was blowing a good 18-20 even though TWC said it as currently at 5. That's confirmed on both coasts now...conspiracy?? Anyway, normally 15 mph is perfect for drifting with the anchors but yesterday the wind was coming from all sides and of course, the fish were bunched up in certain spots. I'd get there, get hooked up and be a football field away when I was done with that fish! No regular anchor on board and I was beating my battery to death. Came off the water early. Ended up on the bay later in the afternoon for some schoolie blues. Bay seems to be hurting this yr. Chris-we're living on parallel universes, opposite coasts. Now,...If you can catch a 1000 lb Bluefin and I can get an 18 lb largemouth,...I'm gonna be nervous. :-/ (que the twilight zone theme song)

Absolutely not, I'm not but let me use this question to give you an example of how these things grow on their own. I simply put in a call to a few people that I know fish in B.A.S.S.clubs asking how I could get on the agenda at a yrly meeting to present what we are doing. Never got that far. Next day, a guy calls me and says he's the RI BASS youth director. He was offering his 31 person team to helpp with all the shoreside fishing. Then he asked how many boats we would need from BASS, I told him 10-15. DONE he said. THat was that, he is now on my committee. so now, I will be passing this resource on to the next host telling them to email BASS and find out the youth directors email. Get him involved. People come out of the woodwork to help, you just gotta ask!
