  1. Yes, I own two west coast style, nice swimbait and in a pinch live bait rod. I pair the Med with a 200e7 and a MH with an Avet SX. I have seen some anglers use these rods as freshwater swimbait rods.
  2. On sale at a Turners near you too! Don't own one, but seem really nice.
  3. I've never had any luck with line starting with the letter "V".
  4. He uses Spinning gear, so I'm guessing for line capacity and\or abrasion resistance.
  5. On the Salt water forum, they are saying it's a miss print... Should be .100 not .010 I think it makes more sense.
  6. Late to the party and nothing to really add, but I agree with Goose52 and thehooligan. I enjoy finesse fishing with my C713.
  7. The Quantum Smoke is a no brainer at 99bucks IMO. It's my first Quantum baitcaster.
  8. I must be in the minority I guess, I put a new leader on every time I go out no matter what species I'm chasing.
  9. The one he is talking about is the Blue PQT.(look in his other post) Its actually a nicer reel then the regular PQ, but was only made for a year or so. One reel mechanic said the internals are between a Revo SX and STX. I still have two, that I don't use any longer.
  10. I personally own all three reels mentioned. I'm more than happy with price to quality Okuma offers, especially when you find these reels at 25-30% discounts.
  11. I agree on the reel, Love this reel. You can find the Helios below 160.00 at Beat The Big Box Stores.
  12. The Avet SXJ without a doubt! 149.00 bucks. if you want a good saltwater forum for So Cal go to bloodydecks.com.
  13. I broke a Phenix M1, totally my fault, and told them 100% my fault. Phenix said ship rod ( I pay) in pieces and 65bucks, and they will send out a new one( they pay). I'm pretty happy about that.
  14. This is exactly why I like the recon2 for braid and leader. I liked the M1 Blank better than the Recon2, but the trigger is higher up on the rod a 1\4 inch or so, making it uncomfortable, pinching my ring finger against my reel. I now have three Recon2's.
  15. One of my reels was getting rough (not gonna say brand to start opinions, it is a magnesium reel ), after inspecting, the roller bearing sleeve has lost some chrome plating on it, I'm sure this is what is causing the roughness. Do I then need to change out the AR bearing at the same time? Afraid I might have to replace the whole side plate. Thanks
  16. First know what kind of braking system you want. All reel companies are making quality reels in the 150-200 range, just look for sales.
  17. Long sleeve T-shirt or short sleeve? 8 or 10 pound leader for the Carolina rig tomorrow?
  18. I now keep a hook sharpener in my bag, out of guilt .
  19. Okuma Helios air / crucial rod, bitsy flip jig with some yum beaver trailer.
  20. Cheap Walmart brand, marine lower unit oil.
  21. I need a sports psychologist. My simple mind could argue both ways.
