  1. I currently use a 7.4:1 Curado K for my dedicated jig/texas rig setup, but thinking of switching to an 8.5:1, my crankbait rods are both 6.2:1.

Majority of mine are Strike King with some older Rapalas mixed in but I've jumped on the 6th sense wagon lately and really like what they have to offer.
  3. Well that's a little disappointing because they look great and I considered one for a finesse spinning rod.
  4. This here. My CB rods have 6.2 reels, everything else is 7.4 but probably going to eventually pick up an 8.5 for jig/texas rig rod.
  5. I'm a Shimano fanboi and most of my BC reels are Curado K's but I decided to grab a Daiwa Fuego CT last week when there was an ebay code, so got it for $50. I haven't fished with it yet but spooled it up and put it on my jerkbait rod and tossed a practice plug around the yard. So far it seems like it's going to be an awesome reel, especially for the price.
  6. Wow

Haha, all of the varients of the primate family are bad news.......
  7. Don't own any Avid X's but own several Avid casting rods, I use a 68 M/XF as my dedicated jerk bait rod. You can't go wrong with either brand, Dobyns and St. Croix are both awesome.
  8. Nice combos, glad you're enjoying them.
  9. Go with the Sierra and Curado K. You won't be disappointed, oh and spool it with some Big Game to start with until you get proficient with the BC reel.
  10. I love my Curado K's but have to say I'm intrigued to try the new Tatula 100. Unfortunately I'll have to wait to try one until the LH retrieves are released.
  11. I've been using Big Game for years too, mostly 12-15lb on my baitcasters.
  12. Just get it, you'll like it, guaranteed. I've got quite a few Avids and that exact model you're looking at is my dedicated jerk-bait rod.
  13. EDIT: Guess I should have looked on G Loomis official site instead of just TW, found what I'm looking for. I'm currently using a Loomis GL2 802s for my dedicated ned rig rod, but really looking to get something new and want to either go with a Loomis or St. Croix rod and delegate the GL2 as a weightless Senko rod or backup finesse rod. Why doesn't Loomis make any ML action rods in any series? Am I wasting my money by wanting to get a new rod? Should I stick with the 802s for my ned rig rod? St. Croix offers quite a bit of ML options throughout their lineup, so If I go with St. Corix I'm looking at the Avids as I love all my Avid casting rods I own. Or, maybe the Avid X or even step up to a Legend Elite.
  14. Why would you buy "knockoff" reels when you can get a name brand reel (both spinning and BC) for pretty cheap.
  15. I use a 68 MHF Avid for my Jig/Texas Rig rod, works perfect especially in close quarters from the yak.
  16. Yeah, I'm a self proclaimed Shimano fanboi but really anxious to get some line on this new Fuego CT and fish it this weekend. In hand it seems like a really quality reel, especially when you can buy them off the bay for ~ $50.
  17. Thanks, going to hold off and get a SLX when the LH retrieves get released. Meanwhile, picked up a new Fuego CT off the bay with a coupon code for $50. It's my first Daiwa reel and I'm anxious to test it this weekend.
  18. Can't go wrong with an Avid.
  19. What % off regular price is the TW Black Friday sale?
  20. I'm looking to grab another ~$100 reel for a backup CB rod I have and narrowed it down to these two. Rod is a St. Croix Avid MM and I'll be throwing squarebill 1.0, and 1.5's mainly. I'm anxious to try the SLX because of the Curado handles and small size but I see people praising the Casitas which of course is what the SLX is replacing. I see lots of people upset that it's going away. I'll be getting a LH retrieve and have found several sites with the Casitas for less than $100. I'm leaning towards the Casitas because I can get one now, while I have to wait until December or later for a LH SLX. So thoughts on the Casitas, pros? cons?
  21. Ebay 15% off code: joyfulfall
  22. Okay, thanks for all the replies guys. I found a Daiwa Tatula LT for a steal on ebay with the code from above, thanks! Getting ready to pull the trigger. Now, what size? 2000 or 2500? Once again this will be used strictly for Ned rig and sometimes weightless Senkos (mainly 5" but the occasional 3"). Rod this is going on is a Loomis GL2 802S.
  23. Not half as nice as some others and not a 1K combo but this is my nicest combo. Everything else I have is also St. Croix/Shimano and a couple Loomis/Shimano setups.
  24. I like the 1.5 obviously, can't beat them for the price.
