  1. Good thread and some great advice. I myself am going to focus on the jig this year as it's a technique I need to improve on.
  2. What are you fishing from? ' I love my glass rod for smaller crankbaits,1.5's
  3. I've currently got an older G Loomis GL2 802S JWR 68, 6-12lb line, 1/8-3/8oz paired with a Shimano Stradic Ci4+ reel. I use this as a dedicated ned-rig setup but have also used it as a weightless Senko setup. It gets the job done and don't really need a new rod but as always the bait monkey is creeping around. I see the Dobyns Sierra spinning series is on sale at TW and seeing if it's worth it to get one? Is it an upgrade to what I'm using now, equal or worse? I know you don't need a high dollar rod to fish with a Ned Rig but I really like my Dobyns casting rods and would like to try a spinning. I primarily kayak fish so I'm looking at the Sierra 692S, 6-12lb, 1/8-1/2oz. It will be paired with the Stradic Ci4+ I'm using now. TIA and Merry Christmas!
  4. Pretty broad question, but I would recommend St. Croix or Dobyns to start.......
  5. I'm a Shimano fanboy and that's all I've ever owned when it comes to baitcast or spinning reels. I own Curado K's, and Stradic Ci4's. That said I bought a Fuego CT off Ebay when it was on sale for $50 after the recommendation from this forum. I didn't need it but was curious about Daiwa and from all the praise it gets here. I've only fished with it a couple times but so far it is amazing and even crazier that it was $50. So, another vote for the Fuego CT.
  6. Go with the Mojo if you can swing it.
  7. Can't go wrong with an Avid, I currently use one for my jig/t-rig rod.
  8. I have several Avids and they're great, plenty of others will agree. Lots of sales going on in the next few days too, I'd also look at a Dobyns or Kistler. I think I'm going to go with a Kistler for a new jig/texas rig rod. I'm currently using an Avid.
  9. Cool thread, wish I could find a haul like that! Interested to see more pics of the finished product.
  10. Another vote for the Curado K, but I do have a Fuego CT I got off Ebay for $50. From all the praise on this forum I had to try one for that price. I haven't used it much, but so far I'm impressed. I think any offering $100+ from Shimano or Daiwa you can't go wrong. I haven't ever tried a Lews or Abu so I'm no help there.
  11. What models of the NRX did he say were significantly better than the GLX?
  12. Wow, that is a deal. Too bad we don't have any Academys here.
  13. Did you take a screenshot of the convo? If you have proof then they should honor it.
  14. I currently use a 68 MHF Avid for Jig/Worm fishing but looking to upgrade to the next level. Why? I don't really know as the Avid has been great, maybe I'm looking for a little more sensitivity?
  15. G Loomis GL2 802S with a Stradic Ci4+ 2500 I got both rod and reel used and it's a great combo to throw the ned rig. I use the crawz and the TRDz quite often fishing creeks in my yak.
  16. I've heard a little about them and seen some stuff at Sportsmans Warehouse, but for that $ I'll stick to GYB.
  17. I have one pre-ordered and checked TW yesterday as it has said in stock on 11/11 forever, now it says 12/11.
  18. I've never tried the Daiwa but own a Stradic Ci4+ and it's an amazing reel.
  19. I see about a $70-$80 difference in price and when you're spending $400+ on a rod that doesn't seem like much..... I'm looking to pick up a new jig/worm rod and will more than likely get a 6'8" as I mainly fish from a yak. I'll probably go with the NRX but wanted to get some input on what everyone thinks. Thanks
  20. Went to Meijer today, which is rare as I don't shop there often. I actually went for the wife because they had Sara Lee pumpkin pies on sale today only, haha. I didn't know they even had fishing stuff but noticed some rods against a back wall and decided to check it out...... Well I lucked out, they had a few different colors of 5" Senkos on sale for $5.19 a pack, I cleaned them out.
  21. Well dang, I was getting ready to send you some reels for service and tuning. But, this sounds like a positive move for you so good luck!
  22. Out of curiousity what other techniques do you all use the 735C for? @ww2farmer
  23. This right here is why this forum is so great. Thanks for this very informative post, especially including rods you tried an didn't like.
