  1. Hey guys, first of all I am not selling these things. I had a couple of these in my tackle box from way back. To be honest I do not know if that is the brand name but they look exactly like them. Here is the location for reference (http://www.kellysbassworms.com/products.asp) What has shocked me is when I did take them out the bass and just about every other fish went gaga over them. I have never had hits like that . May have been I just hit the right day. The ones I had were black with a white stripe. I did notice they did this cool twisting when you brought them in. With the stripe it looked pretty good. Does anyone else have any experience with these? Any other brand names for products like this you would recommend? I cannot find these or anything like them in any stores near here. Just curious if anyone else has tried them. Has anyone else used anything like these?
  2. Sam, you are far enough south...you should trade in or augment the ADT for a Remmington, or Smith and Wesson system. We also have the ADT, but added a layer of Remington, and threw in a Large Canine based system as well. The Canine system also uses less electricity, requires no wiring, and as a "bonus" while you are busy at work during the day, it stays busing putting landmines all over you backyard for extra security.
  3. try mid state. Their trailers were way cheaper.
  4. Been pulling 60-70 hr weeks for so long I am starting to go insane. Whats worse I missed the entire fall fishing season. I really need to get out on the Lake next week. However, as good as we are doing, I have been ever mindfull of those around me having significant issues finding or keeping work. I feel especially for those about to graduate college. That being said, maybe with the good number of folks on here we cna help each other out a bit. Anyone who is in the Charlotte, NC area and works in IT, if you are looking shoot me a PM, I have a line into a number of IT headhunters and area companies.
  5. BassBoss, As other have said, don't take anything these guys throw at you too personally. I am sure you have gotten plenty of stuff from others so you probably have a pretty thick skin by now. Sometimes folks bloom a little bit late. I wa snever held back in HS but it did take me a rediculous 4 years to get through a 2 yr college. Apparently, your BAC does not get you any credit towards yor GPA. Who knew!? Anyway, i bounced back from that and kept a near perfect GPA at my 4 yr in getting my BS and have done extremely well at my career. I guess what i am getting at is, keep your eye on your schooling. Do not ever let it drop, and take advantage of the extra time you have spent there and excel. 2 or 3 extra years in HS won't mean anything when you are 30 yrs old. But at your age you ar rapidly approaching the put up or shut up point in time that will significantly determine the course of your life. So congrats on getting into HS, now go there and kick some tail!
  6. The problem with Wylie is there are so many great places to go. Just from the launch we go to, i can never decide which way to run on that lake. That being said i have had many days on Wylie where i have fished the "perfect" spot and not picked up anything except tons of fish on my fish finder.
  7. Nahh I think it is called Mid-State Marine. They had the same price on Jons, saved a fortune on my 8 hp motor, and their trailers were really inexpensive. I had looked at BP but everytime i went there they were out of Jons. One other thing on cheap boats man, look at the Charlotte observer, or Gaston Gazette. I can't tell you how many I see sitting out in front yards with for sale signs on them. Drive down New Hope from 321 to SC and you will see a dozen or so. There are a lot of folks in over their heads right now on the payments for them. I have been seriously temped to pick one up and sell my jon.
  8. Hey man, I asked the same question a few months ago. The majority of folks (including the welder I went to), recommended not using JB Weld. They said it works great for a lot of application but on boats it tends to break off because of the flexing of the hull. That being said there are also a number of folks on here that have used it sucessfully. The welder is a good option but it was a pain to find one near me that would do boats. I did finally get some brazing rods recommended by the folks here. HTS-2000. They are pretty easy to use, not the cheapest things in the world but they work real good.
  9. In Kannapolis/Concord there is a Tracker dealer that is selling Jons pretty cheap. They are not the best jons around but I got 1436 from them and i tool around Wiley all the time with it. Iheard through the grapevine they were going out of business and having a firesale so it might be worth checking out.
  10. Hey Matthews, NC! Welcome ot the site. I fish Wylie heavily.
  11. Welcome!!! I am out in Gastonia, NC. Definitely lots of good fishing to be had in NC. Out of curiosity, where did ya move from?
  12. A very good point you make here Bird Dog. The other thing about stupidity, we all have it. I highly doubt that anyone on this board honestly looking back cannot think of something utterly retarded they have done. Usually, these are things we laugh at with our friends. Sometimes though, one complete brainfart, can cost you more than you'd think. I had a bud who goofed off and fell in his garage. He hit his head and died. Left a 5 yr old son and a fiance behind. Who knows that this guy was thinking. Might be he was drunk or that he thought the gun was unloaded or who knows.
  13. I agree, running like a girl makes the difference between you being alive and getting a darwin award. I be sorry but dem levitatin' fishin' lines, is where I draw da line. I would be running like a pack of little girls
  14. From what I read on that the dude died. The kid got hit in the head with the gun from the recoil. What was this dude thinking?!

Yeah, you are right, I almost always forget to bring one along and seem to always forget my cell. I work in the tech sector, so I am thinking part of me deliberately leaves anything that remotely resembles technology at home. LOL! BTW, good to see someone else up early.

LOL!!! Wow! What happened to that post?! So... a little background. I have a granfather (the only grandparent I have left). He used to go trout fishing with me, shore fishing, boat fishing...just about anything. Anyway his health has been failing, he can't go trout fishing anymore, very tough to get him on the boat. He has not been out for a few months so being my mothers pond is stocked so well, I took him. So we were fishing with plastics, which we almost never have done historically, usually live bait. He had some serious difficulty in getting the hook done up. But finally does it. We had our lines in the water about 10 minutes and he pulls in a 3 lber. It fought him really good, must have jumped about 3 or 4 times. He pulls in another right after that, and gets a 3rd a few minutes after that. We ended up only having 30 minutes total to fish but he really had an awesome time. It was a week ago and he is still talking about it. With his health issues, it may be the last time I get him back out for a long while, if ever again. I have to say, it was one of the more memorable trips I have gone on in a while.
  17. About a year ago my mother moved to an area around Jefferson, NC. It is a gated community where they have a private pond. They stocked it last year and this year we finally get to hit it.
  18. I had one attack me when I was trout fishing. He waited till I was chest deep in water. Had to beat him off with my fishing pole. My buds did not see, but an old timer on the bank did. He almost fell into the stream laughing at me. .
  19. Besides the weight issue, how do you like your tracker? in a couple years I will be in th emarklet for a new one and I was looking for aluminum hull, possibly tracker. I needed soemthing 16-18 ft that I would fit in my driveway, tow easily, and easily take care of. I love the aluminum hulls.
  20. Yeah, I know, buy some PVC, cut to length and put it out there. That is my primary plan but what I was curious about, is there anyone here who maybe came up with a creative, out of the box rig for rod holders? I have to add at least 4 to my Jon, but as I have put a lot of time and energy into customizing it, I would love to find some really non standard ways of doing these. Also for those of you who have done these, what angle would you consider ideal for these to be at?One's out the back (for trolling) I usually see anywhere from 90 degrees all the way to 45 degrees. Ones out the side, usually are at about 60 degrees (very rough estimate).
  21. Let me know wher eyou find them if you do. I had little luck finding them around here. If you have the skill/patience, and time, I always like doing this stuff myself. I can get more for the money and a craftman who has a personal stake in the stuff working and looking well. I have seen a couple great thread here in the past on custom livewells. I did mine myself but used a Walmart cooler and a portable aerator. The plus being, when I am home, I can just grab it by the handles, take it out of the boat and clean the fish, it is really exactly what I wanted. Being a cooler, it holds temp very nicely but I cannot cool/warm at will. So, it is really not something I would rely on for a professional need but for a fishing redneck, works great for me.
  22. Couple thoughts for you. First of all, as has been said, killing..bad idea and probably illegal. Killing with antifreeze (as some have suggested), EXTREMELY inhumane. Trapping, could be a possibility, course then you need a place to put them. Have you guys considered a lawsuit against the city? Seems to me this is a city issue, they are not enforcing their rules and regulations, there may be an angle for a lawsuit that would get your leaders attention. On top of petitions, get some signs, get in the faces of the leaders, get on the news, make their lives so miserable they will do something. Politicians hate working, they hate bad publicity more. A couple news cameras show up, you will likely see something done.
  23. I have not seen the crestlines before. When I went looking for my jon (before I found this site) one of the problems was, I could not find a good site for reviews of these guys. I posted one on here or my Tracker 1436. When you go buy one, once you have gotten a chance to try it out a bit, post on here and let us all know how it worked for you. Maybe we can get some type of review base here.
  24. Thanks a lot burley. Now I got the visual of the mechanic at the shop i go to topless, let me go get my Dewalt and drill that image out of my brain....
