  1. Boett, with the water temps I'm hearing, sounds like this is going to be an early spawn. From what I've seen in the past, the spawn is usually in full swing close to the first week in May (without a major cold snap, I can see the spawn happening several weeks earlier). Things start getting good for me (prespawn) once the temps reach the mid 50's. Hellbenderman, as Boett mentioned, great report! I noticed you went straight to the 10 mile creek arm of the lake. When I was there last week, I took notice that the main arm of the lake was a lot clearer than the east arm I was fishing. I think that had a lot to do with the success I had on Thursday. You didn't happen to notice if the channel leading back to the east arm was still colored? wv, thanks for the compliment. :-[ The reason I started this thread was for everyone in MD (and anglers close by ) to have a common place to get to know one another and figure out where everyone is located for potential meet ups, whether its as a group or just 2 anglers getting together, and of course to share information to help us all become better anglers! I do post alot on this thread but I don't consider myself to "run" it. Without everyone that participates, the thread would have died many pages ago.
  2. I tried to help out with my posts on here when I can. Had a BAD start to the year but hopefully, things will continue to pick up for me. Yeah, my luck at Blairs Valley sounds similar to yours. My best day out there was on my boat too. I've had some luck from shore there too.
  3. Just picked up some 6 gauge to wire my 24V MG.
  4. This is a thread from several pages back..... http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1265984821 I've picked up a few packs but its a little early for me to start using them yet.
  5. BK, no worries! I'll just fill in when needed! Hey SPEED, those temps aren't too far off. I'm thinkin we'll do ok. I'm thinkin between the 2 of us, we can throw enough to figure out exactly what they want. LOL!
  6. Thanks for the heads up Boett! I was thinkin about trying there out sometime soon. Did you happen to get a water temp while you were there?
  7. Basser714, personally I'm not a big fan of those coves down by the bridge from shore. I've never done very well in that area. Could be just me though. I mentioned in the outings section, as soon as I walked down to the bank, I saw 2 small ones up within 2' of the bank (one was tight against it). I also noticed where I was fishing, the water has a LOT more color than the main lake was. Think with the dirtier water and the bright sun, that may have helped pull then in a little more. Good luck Hellbenderman! Let us know how you do! Take lots of pics! fish jones, I don't think I've said it yet so welcome to THE boards! Sounds like we fish a lot of the same waters (I'm in Williamsport for a little while longer, not moving far though). The only one you listed that I haven't been to in ages is Blairs Valley.
  8. LOL! Hey jake, you going to be there? Looks like SPEEDBEAD and I are going to team up for this one!
  9. Let me double check some things this evening SPEED, I think I may be able to do it. I'll let you know. Hey Matt, the trolling motor has been unloaded for a while now.
  10. Posted this in the outings sections too but figured I'd post a quick recap here for the locals. Hit Black Hills at lunch! Decided on a spinnerbait and had 3 within 15 minutes! Total weight of those 3 was 7lbs 5oz with the largest going 3lbs 5oz. They were inhaling it too! Really did not want to leave! Here's a pic of the 3 pounder.
  11. After the weather yeaterday, I couldn't take not getting out at lunch time to wet some line! Well, only brought one rod with me today, the spinnerbait rod. Things looked promising as soon as I got down to the lake. Saw 2 small ones cruising along the shore. Started fan casting the spot, trying different retrieves and figuring out where they were holding. Everything finally clicked! Caught the one in the pic below (3lbs 5oz) at 12:30 and then a 2 pounder 10 minutes later and then another 2 pounder about 5 minutes after that! All 3 hit my spinnerbait (black/chart skirt w/a single colorado) like a freight train! Had to work for the 3 pounder too! She wrapped me up twice on submerged logs! I really did not want to leave!!! Here's the pic of the 3 pounder.
  12. Smiths.R, Loch Raven is one place I haven't fished yet. Good to know that place has plenty of bass! Basser714, thanks for the heads up on the temps! What part of the lake were you checking out?
  13. Y'all are killin me here! Seems like everyone is getting out today while I'm stuck at work. Didn't even get out at lunch time today. :'( LOL!
  14. Lucky BUM! I guess I can't say much though, I have a boat ramp on the Potomac that's 5 minutes from my place.
  15. Thanks for the heads up SPEED! Not sure if I'll make it to this one or not. Gotta get the boat re-wired for the new trolling motor and all that fun stuff. Tear em up!
  16. Congrats Tom! btw, I have a couple PFD's I can bring along if that helps. Just let me know.
  17. Hey Lee, I just checked the river gauge I track, it's down almost 7' already (19.5'). So it may not be as long as you might think. Boett, BAD start to the year for me (check out the MD who's who thread). I actaully just got on the board with 5 small largemouths out of the C&O canal here in Williamsport. I haven't had a chance to fish the C&O at Dickerson during the spawn but I have caught a few decent fish out of there during the rest of the year. Thanks for the heads up though!
  18. Hey Boett, that is dam 4 under all that water! Hellbenderman, I'm glad I didn't get stuck on saturday when I was at dam 4 in the morning! I would've been under water for sure where I was standing (which was on the tow path). Great reference pic Brian! Last late summer/early fall, I was actually stand right at the base of the dam casting back underneath the overflow catching bass and walleye. I could touch the very bottom of the dam then. Simply CRAZY!
  19. Didn't make it down that far but I can tell you the river gauge at Point of Rocks right now is running at just under 25' and the flow there is 166,000 cubic feet per second! WOW!!! Good news is, the river has crested! Brian, I'll see if I can find a pic from dam 4 at a normal level. The best I've found right now is a pic from 2008 that was posted on the MD DNR Fresh Water Fishing report. Not positive, the pic is at a different angle, but it appears the levels then is actually a little bit lower than this year!
  20. Seriously! I JUST checked and the gauge I track has gone up about a foot-foot and a half since those pics were taken. Current level is 25.93' with a flow of 81,100 cfps. Looks like it's peaked or very close to it. Oh yeah, the pic of me driving through the water, I had a full size Dodge Ram pick up behind me. As I went through, I looked back to see the water up to his bumper and he definitely sat higher than me!
  21. Be thankful you're on Bass Resource and not one of the musky boards! You could be banned for a comment like that on one of those! LOL!
  22. I mentioned on another thread that I was going to attempt the fish the Potomac yesterday. I have an area that I hit when the river comes up that I usually do rather well fishing it from shore. Well I got there yesterday and couldn't get down to that spot, it was under water. Went back today to check things out since it came up even more! Here's a few pics from Dam 4 from today!
