Anyone use Turbo Tax?
As I said in my previous post, for a simple return it's ok, but nothing I would use, what some one else uses is their business. Past good fortune does not mean that in the future you may not run into problems, I like to be prepared as much as possible. Turbo tax will not write letters in my defense, make phone calls, or will they accompany me to a "meeting", CPA's talks their language better than I do and are taken more seriously. My CPA is there for me through out the year with answers I may have long before or after my returned is filed. Being retired tax preparation for my returns do not exceed $400, a pittance for all he provides and pays for himself easily.

The hardest part about bass fishing is.........
When I see people posting of outings where they have caught 10-20 or even 50 bass, I say how hard can it really be? Bass are abundant, hit on almost anything and are aggressive.....one of the easier fish to catch. The challenge is finding and catching larger bass, but that goes for any species.

1000 or 2500 size spinning reel?
Wouldn't buy either one. I'm using supremes 8725 & 8730, both hold more than enough line for bass, plenty of horsepower and what I like the best is not a dinky handle, but a larger more comfortable one, plenty smooth and very light.

World records live VS. artificial????
I agree, separate records for live vs bait also line classes as well. The Japanese record was caught using 25# line fighting the fish for a mere 3 minutes. No denying the record and the fact it's a huge fish but catching that fish using lighter line and tackle would be a lot more impressive to me, would have he landed it on a fly rod? It's not always what you catch but how you catch it.

Cutting line
Bic lighter or cigarette to cut braid, puts a little nib on the tag end too so the line will never pull thru. For mono any pliers will do.

Florida Cold Snap Help!
I had a stellar week excluding the last 2 days, used senkos 1 time, best producer for me was a gold redfish spoon. Anxiously awaiting the spring bait.

Musky reel
I watched the " In Fisherman " TV show yesterday. Their staff expert used the same outfit for muskie and Redfish, a supreme 8240 spinning reel my guess a mh 10/20 rod, the guides in each area used spinning as well but I didn't notice the brand, the redfish were very big.

I need to relocate, must have good bass fishin, where?
My property taxes in Florida are less than they were in Michigan, but the cost of living can be high, that's up to each individual. As far as state services Michigan blows Florida away and much of that has to do with the state income and state business tax, a topic I have discussed with my cousin, she is a Michigan Senator. I would have picked San Diego area had it not been for my wife, we are 5 minutes from our kids and gr children. For me it doesn't get better than California.

What a waste of money!
You wasted nothing, you had the opportunity to see the game in person.......just disappointed with the outcome.

Anyone use Turbo Tax?
For people with simple returns it's ok, I would never use it. I have done side by side comparisons and my CPA always saves me more money, he's not special but he is a professional. Many CPA's use Turbo Tax, but the professional version not the online version, it's different, plus they know the changing laws and are required to attend yearly educational classes. A storefront tax preparer, like an H&R Block is still better than doing it yourself, but still is not a CPA. As in law a person that represents himself/herself has a fool for a client.

What was I thinking
Bassn, the difference in heating between most up north homes and homes in S.Florida is gas forced air with humidifiers. Down here we have these crap electric furnaces with no humidifiers. Also are homes are not insulated as well (they should be for the A/C, but they are not) and single panes windows.

Lure/Species Specific Rods
RW summed it best ! For me I use 1 set up 90% of the time, Hurricane Redbone light action 4/10 rod with a supreme 8725 10# braid, most of my bass are less than 6#. Only time I use my other freshwater setups is just for an occasional change of pace.

What are your fishing Strengths?
IMO best post on the subject. As for me, knowing how to land bigger fish like tarpon on light spinning or flyrod

World Record Bass Ruling Announced, it's a....
According to an article in this mornings Sun Sentinal he cast a live bluegill and he said that the smallest of the feeding bass hit the bait. He also said that he had fought the fish for 3 minutes, they must not fight to hard in Japan.

bass rigs for saltwater?
No one said the fishing didn't rival Florida fishing, in fact I hear it's quite good, but as Bassn said the equipment will not hold up. I consider Bassn quite knowledgeable, he fishes bass more than I do but also fishes saltwater. Bassn knows me personally and how I fish, a bass rig doesn't get it. Red fishing is a lot like bass fishing so I see where you are coming from, but there is so much more. Try catching just a juvenille 30-40# tarpon off the beach, where you can't run it down with a boat and I bet your bass rig won't last long. I haven't yet seen documented proof that curado is the #1 selling reel, it very well may be, but probably for freshwater and light inshore fishing. As said a bass or redfish are not tarpon, kingfish, jack crevelle, bluefish, cuda or bonita, there is just no comparison.

80 dollar spinning reel and 240 dollar rod?
I was using a $35 abu on an expensive rod the last 3 years, the reel was perfect and smooth as can be, but I wanted to upgrade so I did. My new purchase was 5 times more, I favor the abu

Peacock Bass Fish Kills
I've been out everyday and I actually did catch a peacock a few days ago. Yesterday I was dropping lures on top of Peas and they just swam away. No floaters yet but I'm sure it's going to be a bad winter kill, worse than last year. As Peacocks take over bass territory many are happy to see winter kill, I'm not in that camp. Snook handle the cold a bit better and migrate into canals to seek warmer water or ICW at the power plant.

Went to the pond again, I might just wait for warmer weather
If you are fishing a pond they are there, no place for them to go. Went only for 1/2 hour yesterday and caught 1 with a gold spoon, but in this cold weather the plastic worm seems to be the most effective, don't give up.
