We've got a 50" minimum for harvesting musky. My home water, while not known for huge bass, holds a good population. Gizzard shad are plentiful in the 10-12" range. A perfect tasty morsel for a 50" musky. The sad thing is there are walleye meat fishermen who will kill pike and musky because they think the large toothy critters affect the population.

Musky aren't affecting the bass population. They didn't get that big on bass alone. I'm guessing their bellies are full of shad

An engineer from one of the school districts comes into the supply house yesterday. He tells me the village water department stopped into the school and told him there's a problem somewhere in the building, that there is excess water usage. Schools are not in session still because of covid. The engineer asks "How much? A couple hundred gallons?" The guy from the village says "No, enough to fill an Olympic sized swimming pool." After some investigation, the found a heating coil that froze and burst. There just so happened to be a floor drain below the coil. The water ran right down the drain rather than flood the building. Which is why the engineers had no clue.

As a kid, a young man, an adult, I say screw you. I ate PB&J with strawberry preserves for lunch everyday from kindergarten thru 12th grade. I may have graduated high school in the 20th century but I still partake in the occasional PB&J today and it's always strawberry preserves...black raspberries can go to hell.

Unfortunately, if food hasn't gone through an FDA inspected plant, food pantries are not allowed to accept it. Same thing with venison. The logic makes zero sense. Better off people go through life malnourished and starve rather then accept wild game.

Have you had Asian carp? People eat carp. I never had but I wouldn't be opposed to trying it. I don't think the name has anything to do with it. People eat crappie. If there was ever a less appetizing name for a fish than this....

We did have some water damage last year. The heat went out and the residual water in the lines did freeze. We were fortunate that the fittings that froze were right where the water lines exited the basement to the first floor. The basement is unfinished. When we turned the water on, just the cement slab in the basement got wet.
