Sorry, You Just Lost A Customer
I will agree and disagree with your post. First, disagree. A bit of background, I worked on my own by myself as a tradesman, with zero supervision for 25 years. Got hurt/disabled and entered the corporate world. The corporate world did not work out well for me...or I didn't work out well for them. The one thing I remember from my corporate indoctrination is an HR video. I will preface this next comment as I got thrown out of the meeting because the HR girl didn't care for my...humor, or as she saw it, insubordination. Plus she was a Lickalottapuss. Anyway, the movie was about me/we not knowing what everyone we came in contact with that day was going thru. I could be having the best day ever and you are having the worst day ever. How do we make it work? I landed a $1M deal and your mother died. As far as the current topic, I had a customer come into my store today. I sell commercial hvac parts/controls. He purchased a control a couple days ago from us that I had to special order. Picked up the control and per their tech support, the control was defective. For my records, I needed a name of the tech support guy he spoke with. Mind you, they have 2 tech support people and one is a woman. The customer service guy who answered the phone was hesitant to give out the tech support guys name and hung up the phone as quickly as he answered. It's ironic the tech support guy's name was Dick. I guess I can only hope my old guy attitude will get me thru to retirement in 15 years.

Coolest thing you've ever witnessed while fishing?
Nature is really cool. Survival of the fittest. I watched a heron catch and swallow a 12" crappie last weekend. One of my favorite bird stories happened a few years back in Sturgeon Bay. My son and I were fishing for smallies and there was maybe 3 or 4 seagulls making a commotion in the water about 40 yards ahead of us. We thought they were feeding on a school of alewife's. As we get a little closer we see they are trying to pull a sucker that looked to be about 5lbs out of the water. Out of nowhere, a bald eagle swoops down and grabs the sucker right out from underneath them. They're ticked. For what seemed another 5-10 minutes, the gulls chased the eagle from the shoreline back over the water, Back and forth, back and forth. The eagle went in to land on a huge tree. He let go of the fish and it lands in someones backyard. There was a kid playing in the yard and he starts screaming to his mother that a fish fell out of the sky.

Lightning strike a tree about 50 yards from the boat. We were hiding in a channel, trying to make our way underneath a bridge and BAM!

Lowe vs Lund vs Tracker- 16.5' boat class
As of 2016, Lund uses composite decks and transoms.

Lowe vs Lund vs Tracker- 16.5' boat class
All the company's are run independently of Brunswick. Think of Brunswick like General Motors. Lund would be Cadillac, Crestliner would be Buick, and Lowe would be Chevy. Not that there is anything wrong with Lowe, it's just not a Lund. Bayliner is the Chevy of their pleasure boat brands.

Post a photo a day!
55 years old and still running strong. I'll admit I haven't used it much in the last 10 years. She will have a new home later this week as will my 14ft Lund, tied to the pier in my sons backyard. She'll probably get used daily now.

Found this pic on offerup. Can anyone explain to me how the triggerspin reel works with the pistol grip rod?

It ain't worth 7 grand. Maybe half that if it's in pristine shape.

Negotiating new aluminum bass boat price......is this dumb?
Yeah, I don't know. Cash is cash. People get raped on trade in's. Negotiating vehicle prices involves research. I took 3 weeks negotiating my boat and 2 weeks negotiating my truck. The boat, being relevant in this conversation, started with 3 dealers pitted against each other. The first dealer backed out quickly and the other two worked with me to get numbers down on each other. Final decision was made because one dealer had the boat in stock and the other had to order it.

If you don't already have financing set up, chances are, to get the lowest rate, you will need 20% down.

Lowe vs Lund vs Tracker- 16.5' boat class
3 people fishing is plenty much in a 16.5' boat. I can do 4 bass fishing in my 20 footer but everyone needs to be conscious of where everyone else is at or someone will get a lure stuck in their head. The above boats are perfect for a small family, not for 4+ adults

Battery Help
Top off the battery when you store it and top off the charge monthly.

If you have the chance to look at all 3 brands in person, you'll see why Lund is at the top.

This https://www.batteriesplus.com/productdetails/battery/marine-and-boat/deep-cycle/bci-group-31m/sli31mdc The above is a wet cell made by Deka and a d**n good battery at a d**n good price. You can also get a AGM or gel cell. I can't recommend any of those because I have only used wet cells.

The way to go is to not skimp on the batteries. 2 good quality group 31's and you should be good to go.

1st Boat - What options do I need??
There are a couple different theories about maxing out the motor. The one you always hear about is resale value. If you're buying a boat and planning on keeping it 1-3 years, I'd max it out. If you're going to keep it for any length of time, maybe not so critical. Second is performance. Hole shot, top speed, and quick planing time. If you will be fishing alone lightly loaded, not so critical. If you're fishing with 1 or 2 guys and loaded down with fuel, tackle, and a full livewell, than maxing it out is important. Third, having enough motor to outrun the elements. Anyone who has spent anytime on the water knows weather can turn quick. Can you outrun the storm and make back to the dock safely? Do you have enough motor to keep up with the waves in a following sea? May not be an issue where you fish, but it can be an issue where I fish.

I highlighted must haves. If you're going to be fishing with a partner or wife/girlfriend, a passenger console is probably a must have. The Fortrex trolling motor is a much better motor than the Max. Plainfield Bass and Gill
Not yet. I listed it last fall and took it off the market this spring. Going to relist it in the fall again. Had 1/2 dozen inquiries after I pulled it. Done some fishing on the Chain this year. Heading up to Sturgeon Bay next week or the week after. All weather dependent...and if my boss let's me put vacation off another week. Looks like a washout next week. I'll play it by ear.
