I was almost one of those guys when I got my first boat. I had a 2wd truck and backed up the trailer down the ramp but I forgot to unhook the tiedowns. The boat had floated the trailer and took all the weight off my rear wheels that were partially submerged on an algae covered ramp. Thankfully I wasn't alone and the ramp was owned by a bar/restaurant that had patrons. I couldn't take my foot off the brake or I would have ended up in the drink. Sent wifey to the restaurant to find someone who could help. Fortunately someone had a tow strap in their truck and was able to pull me out before I lost the truck. I watched a co-angler crush the boaters tailgate while backing up his trailer when loading after a tourney. I don't think the co ever fished that circuit again.

The guy at bass pro is wrong. Look at the screen shot thread at SI/DI images taken at less than 1mph. It's a matter of matching the scroll speed to the boat speed. Set the scroll speed on the graph to 1 and, aside from possible interference from the trolling motor, you should be able to get decent images. Secondly, Are you looking to take pretty pictures or find fish and structure. Unfortunately graphs aren't a set it and forget it kind of thing. They need tweaking depending on speed, noise(electrical interference from the trolling motor), and view. If you're using 2d and trolling extremely slow or are still while vertical jigging, you want a fast return(fast scroll speed). SI/DI does not work when the boat isn't moving, but it does work at very slow speeds(slow scroll speed)

Whatever you throw, make long casts and give your bait time to sink into the strike zone.

Another state of IL snafu. I washed the boat today and noticed my registration expires at the end of the month. Tried to renew online, my registration doesn't exist. I call the DNR line. She asks for the same info the website asked for and says my registration doesn't exist. I have to call another division next Tues-Thurs to see if they can find it. Morons....

I have a special panfish lake that has clear water, and an abundance of forage. It does not receive a lot of fishing pressure. Case in point, I caught the above on Memorial Day. There were 6 boats on the lake, not 600. There are bluegills exceeding 10". Crappies max out at 12" I probably harvest 200 panfish +/- annauly and have for the last 20 years. This was an exceptional haul, I think I've only beat it once. I could have stayed, but I'm the guy that fillets the fish. As it was, It took 3 hours to fillet 40+ fish

Caught a ton of bass this morning on the Fox Chain. Water is 71*, it's real high and under a no wake restriction. No size to the fish. Think 1 was 2-1/2, a couple 2's and a ton of short fish.Best 5 may have weighed 10lbs. No rain on the radar when I left. We were interrupted by a storm, ran back to the dock and sat in the truck for 1/2 hour waiting for it to pass. Then front after front passed thru with the temperature fluctuating between 75* and 65*, wind then calm, wind then calm, sun then a wall of clouds, sun then a wall of clouds. I've never seen so many consecutive fronts pass before and so many "pop up" storms appear on the radar. Pretty wild.

I have a 5' Shimano ultra lite combo that I caught on a jig while bass fishing. I have caught more panfish on that combo than any other combo I have. Spooled up with 6 pound Mr Crappie mono in years past, I currently have 6lb Power Pro braid on it, Rocket bobber, eagle claw long shank #2 hook and a small spit shot. I have a better hook up ratio for crappies with the braid than I did with mono. Pic was earlier this week.
