Also get a depth contour map of the water you'll be on. You don't want to tear apart the bottom of the boat. When the big motor's on wear a PFD and have the kill switch lanyard attached to the vest. At the ramp, it's going to take practice loading and unloading. Be patient. Eventualy you'll learn exactly where the trailer needs to be on the ramp to load and unload properly. I wouldn't advise power loading until you know what your doing. Don't forget the plug when you launck and don't forget to trim up when you load. If this is a new boat, the motor break in period is probably 10 hrs. Once you've accomplished that, you'll want to start your takeoff with motor trimmed all the way down. The nose of the boat will raise and as it lowers itself you can start trimmimg the motor up until you find the sweet spot. That is the point with the least drag just before the boat starts to porpoise. Also the more choppy the water the more control you'll have with the motor trimmed down. The same goes when you're crossing wakes. Be aware whats around you at all times. There are plenty of inexperienced boaters out there as well as "hot rodders" and drunks. Good Luck

You must have one heck of a paper route to afford this stuff at 13. A 7'6" rod is fine. If you want a skeet reese rod because you think it'll catch more fish then go get it. Get some 30lb powerpro and tie on a 6ft long 17lb test flouro leader, and go fish the hell out of them.

So I picked up some Gambler Cane Toads and Tru Tungsten Hackney frog hooks. After rigging them for the first time it seems to me the Gambler Double Trouble hooks would be a better choice so I wouldn't have to retie if I need to replace the frog. The Gambler hooks have the screw keeper on them. Do the cane toads last awhile where retieing would not be a factor? Opinions??? This will be a new technique for me.

That's a real nice looking rod. How does it fish? Sensitivity? Balance? Love the rod. Love the rig. It's actually a few years old. HMG/AV 7'6" heavy fast. The one I have is a 1 piece telescopic out of the handle for easier storage. I think the new one is a solid 1 piece. As far as sensitivity, with the braid, if I have the rod butt resting on my thigh during the retrieve I can feel the jig hitting bottom on my thigh. I'd say thats pretty good. It's balanced well with a light reel also. Plenty of backbone to pull fish out of the slop. The only issue I have is the location/type of hook keeper. It has a small split ring that swivels on a heavy wire that is molded into the rod. Ocassionaly the damp braid will loop under it after the cast is complete. That is my first Fenwick and I actualy just bought 2 Triggersticks this past weekend. A 7' M MF for finesse and a 7' MH F for a frog rod. I think Fenwick makes a great rod for the money.

You can't, unless you employ someone to work there. I can't imagine profits are good enough, that would allow someone to do that. You'd have to supplement the walkin business with internet sales also. If you could find a place on a lake where you could rent boats, charge a launch fee, and sell gas you'd be in better shape. It would still cut into your fishing time.
