I end up dropping a grand or so every year. Last season was an Ipilot TM plus tackle. This season was the 2 Revos, 2 Fenwicks, plus another $300. on misc tackle. I just keep hearing my mother screaming at my father "Why do you need all this @$%&!!!" every time I make a purchase. Probably a good thing I'm divorced. ;D I'm not bragging, I'm stupid. All this for a little green fish. :-/

I was trying to say if it's known $10, $20, or a million $$$, people won't feel they had been cheated. I understand it becomes difficult when you put and take partial contents, but we all know what stuff costs. So if I'm # 9 or 10 I should have a whole lotta good chit or a whole lotta crap ;D I'm in.

I went fishing with my 21yo son for our annual cooling lake trip. He shows up at my house last night and says he did a bad thing. He stopped off at BPS and picked up a Revo S/Carbonlite combo. So I showed him a STX/ Fenwick combo I just bought. So we're out on the boat and he says "You bought 2 combos?" To which I replied "Yes, I'm spending my tax refund(edited)" "Dad, You have a problem." So we get back to my house and there is a TW package sitting on the porch, which he acknowledges as I'm backing in the driveway. Then, the postman comes up and hands me another package. "Dad, Is that another TW package?" "No...It's Megastrike scent" "Dad, You need help" I'm OK... Right? Do you guys think I need help? I recall having the same conversation with my father on a number of ocassions. My father seems ok. He only owns 25 or so combos, along with boxes of tackle. Please tell me I'm normal. BTW we slayed the bass. No giants but lots of #'s

Just a thought guys. Rather than a "post pic of gives and takes for approval" which was mentioned in the other thread, how about putting a dollar amount on the original box and whatever is put in needs to be equal or greater than what was removed. And so on with each swap. If you start posting pics for approval it kind of defeats the purpose of the swap. Kind of like a Christmas grab bag gift. I'd be interested in participating if there was a little more order. No offense to anyone but if you can't afford it just pass.

So, work is slow this week. I figured I'd take the day off. Arrived at Lasalle at 5:15 this morning. 2nd car in line!!! Miracles do happen. Water temp at the ramp is 52 degrees. Not sure about the discharge but we fished in 73-77 degree water. My son started jig fishing this year and stuck his first fish of the season. Not a big one but the first. He's still sleeping. LOL I followed that up with my first of the year. Another dink caught on a Whopper Baits Boxing Craw on a 1/4 oz shakey head jig. We proceeded to pick up a few more dinks but action was slow. I put on a golden shiner spinnerbait from Northstar Jigs and Wham!, landed this girl. not huge, but about 2lb. My son immediately put on the new KVD square bill in Sexy Shad and game was on. He started hooking fish after fish. After a couple short strikes on the spinnerbait I followed suit and put on a Bomber Model A in silver with a black back. My first crankbait fish was a 4lb striper. I named him "Dinner" We proceeded to fish until 12:30 and caught roughly 50 largemouth, the largest being close to 3lbs on the sexy shad. 20 cats the largest being 3lbs, and the one striper. There may have been a total of 15 boats out there today. We had the lake to ourselves. Rumor has it a shore guy landed a 5lb smallie. Here's a couple more pics.

If you want to do it yourself HTS-2000 is the way to go. It's stronger than aluminum and melts at a lower temperature. Very easy to use and is a permanent repair.

Are you going to use the vehicle for anything else besides a tow vehicle? If you plan on hauling stuff go with the Ford, but take into consideration the stepside bed is able to haul less crap. Plus when you own a pickup everyone you know will "need to borrow it" at some point in time. If you have alot of buddies then maybe the Jeep is the way to go. 100k isn't alot of miles IF the truck was cared for properly. Check the carfax report. Another thing to consider at 100k it may need tires which will be another $600-800.00 for either vehicle.

The few reports I've heard was a slow day on the water. Plus for now gates open at 6:00 and close at 1:00. I guess the "gatekeeper" retired, and no one is being hired to take his place, so the DNR is working with a skeleton crew.

I learned the hard way. When you catch a cab at the airport and the cabbie asks you if you've ever been to Vegas before say yes. I made the mistake of saying no. Well $30 later he drops me off at my hotel on the strip. Come to find out the strip is a $10 fare from the airport, and I was taken for a ride, literally.

First and foremost you need to have confidence in yourself as a fisherman. Confident you can adapt to different situations that present themselves. The problem many people have is they don't give new baits enough of a try and when new stuff isn't producing they go back to the tried and true. Myself included. My remedy for that is practice. If you're out fishing just to fish dedicate a portion of your time using the new presentation. Or better yet, leave the senkos and spinnerbaits at home. Rather than being overly concerned if it produces or not just try different retrieves under different conditions without expectation. Everyone goes to the lake with that new bait they heard about on Bass Resource, or the one that won the B.A.S.S. tourney. You just spent $12 for and when it doesn't produce the day is ruined and you're out $12. Just because a bait doesn't produce one day doesn't mean it won't the next, and vice versa. Case in point KVD threw spinnerbaits on day one and started throwing them on day 2 but realized the spinnerbait bite shut down. If KVD wins the Classic using his 1.5's or 2.5's and you buy them and they don't work for you, Does it mean that KVD got lucky and the lure is really garbage? OR The lure just isn't producing under the conditions you are facing. To expand on that same thought, other pros were also throwing KVD cranks in the same general area he was. But he was doing things a little differently, bumping stumps with the lure. The more knowledge you develop in fishing situations the more confidence you'll have knowing what lures to use when.

No. I just picked up those rods 2 weeks ago, and won't be out on the water for another week or two, as we still have some ice. I assumed it was some blend of cork. It has the same consistancy as cork, but almost like there's rubber blended into it. It doesn't soften it, but gives it a slightly tacky feeling. The mfg label says TAC Handle: Provides increased grip in all fishing conditions, more durable than cork and more grip in all conditions. Time will tell.

I've got myself down to 4 combos this year: Ardent F500 on a 7'6" Fenwick HMG/AV spooled with 55lb Samuari braid for flippin'/pitchin' Revo Toro 50HS on a 7' Mojo Bass MH/F spooled with 15lb Trilene Big Game for cranks and spinners Revo STX on a 7' Fenwick Triggerstick M/MF spooled with 10lb Seaguar Abrazx for finesse Revo STX on a 7' Fenwick Triggerstick MH/F Spooled with 55lb Samuari braid for frogs I am going to attempt to retire ;D the spinning gear this year, and only use the C3's for swimbaits and salmon. I'll see how all that works out.

If the death of a fish upsets you get a feeder goldfish. They are like Twinkies and will never expire.

Remember braid will last longer than mono or flouro. You also have the ability to reuse the braid rather than replace it. You can spool it on a new reel straight off the old. All the previously "unused" braid will now be the line hitting the water, and the "used" braid will be what's connected to the spool.

They jump and will get stuck to the carpet.
