4.91 on the Fox Chain 5-1-11

Stayed local. Came in 3rd out of 44 boat field and won big bass with this 4.91. It's a buddy tourney(Anglers Choice) I have been fishing with my son for the last 6 years. That was my only keeper. He caught the other 3. We weighed in 4@ 10.66lbs. 2nd was 5@ 10.71 and 1st was 5@ 11.3 Tourney was still no wake but water was only about 1ft above pool.(Mind you, the average depth of this system is 4ft) They impose the no wake restrictions to prevent shoreline erosion.

That's it. I pitch to every pier pylon twice(both sides), sea walls, rocks, reeds, whatever. I get into a rythem and it becomes effortless.

The sebile is in there. The craw could have been in there and I missed it.

Here's my pic. As I said puts: Zara Spook(new out of box)and the Gammy hooks. Take: Havoc Spear baits. There's 80% soft plastics in the box. Not that it's bad. I was expecting different. Guys talk LC's, I've got LC's, LiveTarget, River2Sea etc. that I would have swapped, but not for soft plastics. Oh well.

Not sure. The missionary position would no longer exist...Think about it.

Got it today. This will be the last time I participate. I guess I was expecting more. Didn't see any LC's. Musta got lost. I took the Havoc Spear baits and put a Zara Spook bass pattern and a pack of Gamakatsu 4/0 frog hooks. I may get it mailed tomorrow but for sure the begining of next week.

From what I've read the water is 2-2.5 ft above pool and flow is 3000cfs. It was supposed to peak today, and the headwaters are supposed to be normal by Sunday, barring anymore rain, which means they will be pushing alot of water thru the dams. Normal flow is 800-1200cfs. 2 weeks ago it was 1' below pool, so in 2 weeks the water has raised 3'.

Not much lake to fish. I haven't fished there in a couple years because the lake is overrun with dink bass and pleasure boaters. Don't get me wrong there are some 4-6lber but they are far and few between. Fish the docks around Wauconda Boat, the weedline from Wauconda Boat to the spillway, the docks and seawall at the "newer" condo complex at the southeast corner of the lake, the inner and outer weedlines on the east side of the lake, and the weedline along the northeast end of the lake near the park and private boat launch. If the water is high hit the channels on the north side of the lake, but if it's normal to low don't bother. There are also a couple humps just out from the spillway you can find with your electronics. I'd recommend flukes and senkos fished weightless if the weeds are in thick. Spinnerbaits will produce if the water isn't gin clear. If you throw cranks on the weed line you'll probably catch more small pike than bass(They got a 42" thru the ice this past year). Good luck.

The females leave after the spawn and the males guard the fry. Immediately post spawn the females will have the appearance of an empty belly.

I've been fishing "buddy" tournaments with my son for 6 years. Currently we fish Anglers Choice. I have no experience with boater/non boater. For me I'd rather work with my partner than compete against him for fish.

Like pulling the wings off a fly. Then you would have to call it a "walk" Time to dial in your meds.

Look for the fry. There will be a male guarding them. A fluke os senko in their immediate area will almost guarantee a fish.

So here's the deal. I fish a 12000 acre river system with 10 or so lakes. Due to flooding conditions the waterway is under a "No Wake" restriction. I have a tourney this Sunday, and don't know if I'll be able to get out on Saturday, because they are calling for T-storms and winds @ 35mph. Anyway my spots will be limited due to time. I have areas that I know will have fish BUT due to the restrictions the areas will definitaly be crowded with "The Enemy". I have done well in these areas under no wake conditions in the past. My other option is to go south on the river to a few backwater areas that under normal conditions can be hit or miss, bigger bass less #'s. My thinking is that with high fast water conditions the backwaters may be stacked with fish. Plus I may be the only boat that fishes this far away and theoreticaly, if mine is the only presentation seen, it should be easire to catch these fish. The dilema is if I idle to the river I'm commited because I won't have time to go anywhere else. Could be possibly 4hrs boat time and 4hrs fishing time. Do I take the gamble? What would you guys do?
