I have used coffee grounds, corn meal, bread crumbs, and pancake mix. Anything they can eat will plump them up. If you keep them for any length of time though coffee is the way to go. The other items listed will eventualy mold.

First off it's the male that actualy guards the fry. From what I have read once the female deserts her hubby and kids, the kids are fair game

Consider yourself lucky. A buddy of mines friend fell down the stairs and became paralyzed, and passed away a couple years later from complications.

Time to move Glenn. I don't mind the cold or the hot. It's good for business. However, I have had it with the wind. Been a real PITA trying to control the boat.

By the title,I though this was a thread about work Looks like fun to say the least.

WTG! I like your signature. Conditions have been tough and it's been a good jig bit this year. That bass in the above pic was a jig bite and picked up a 3.97lb today on the same jig. I missed BB though to a 4.20lb. No pics today. Didn't bring the camera because of rain and Deadliest Catch like conditions on the water. Let me start by saying today was by far the worst conditions I have ever fished on the Chain. The wind never let up. It had to be blowing 25-30mph and I'm sure there were gusts up to 40. We were listening to tree trunks cracking and branches blowing off trees in the protected areas, and in the open water on Fox and Pistakee had to be 4-5ft rollers with water coming over the bow and sides of the boat. Anyway about the fishing. My son and I get to our first spot and he sticks a 3pounder before I get my line in the water. Within a half hour he sticks a short, I stick a short, then I get a 15.5" fish with a monsterous head like a 4 pounder, but it was only 1.5lbs. We're thinking it's gonna be a real good day today. Well the bite was non existent after that. Hit a second spot. Nothing. 3rd spot he sticks a short. Next spot he loses a short at the boat and I boat a freakishly ugly sunfish type of fish. Bright orange belly and a mouth like a rockbass(Any ideas what is was?) It's now about noon and we have 2 hours to weigh in, and getting kind of anxious. Next thing you know I set the hook on my jig and BAM I got a pig. The last bite of the day. We brought 3 fish to weigh in for a total of 8.41lbs Good enough for 6th place and a check. The pig was 3.97lbs and I lost to big bass which was 4.20lbs. It was a 37 boat field. 1st place was 11.95lbs. There were only 3 limits weighed in today. Only 8 goose eggs weighed in which is an improvement over the last 2 tourneys.

Hopefully you'll have better luck than I did with Frogg Toggs. The ones I had were pants not bibs, and a pullover. They worked fine in light rain but moderate to heavy rain they were worthless.

Me, I have outdated Power Pro on a spinning reel but my baitcasters are spooled with Diawa Samuari. I use a flouro leader on everything but topwater, for reasons mentioned above.

WTG! I'm a little confused though. 3 way tie for big bass? Did you have to divide the pot 3 ways? The way our club does it is big bass wins a big bag tie and big bag wins a big bass tie.

Never fished that lake. I also have a club tourney on Sunday. They're also calling for 20+ winds. Here's my .02 worth. The last 2 tourneys I fished were post cold front and windy, 50's dropped to 30's and 70's dropped to 50's. The only thing different this Sunday will be the rain. It's been a jig and swimjig bite for me. All fish were caught either in current areas with a hard bottom, or on timber. In my experience the fish on timber were much more agressive than the fish caught on rock/gravel bottom. I would recommend fishing slowly and thouroughly in areas that you know hold fish, and don't expect many bites. I could be wrong but I think it would be a waste of time trying for any bedding fish, especialy if the winds are blowing. They already have lockjaw and the cold front will only make it worse. I was also thinking skipping a shakey head under those docks might payoff for you. Good luck.
