I fish US Anglers Choice on the Fox Chain first tourney is this Sunday. There is about 6 or 7 different organizations fishing tourneys on the Chain. You can also look up BigBucksBass out of Action Marine. They do a tourney trail on the chain and a # of them in southern Wisconsin. These are 2 man tourneys and most boaters have regular partners but ocassionaly they need fill-ins. There is no age limit. Good luck

Don't over think it. Once you're certain it's a fish set the hook. IMO a bass can detect the jig is not real faster than other soft plastics fished weightless is because of the weight issue. Plus the location of the hook is right there. On a worm, senko, or soft plastic jerkbait the hook is in the middle of the bait which IMO warrants a slight pause before the hookset to make sure the hook is in the fishes mouth.

Instead of trimming the weed guard like was previously shown, what I do is cut off about 50% of the bristols so there are only 10 or so left. You have a full weed guard only less of it. I also X2 on the hookset. as soon as you feel the bite, set the hook. If the water is stained or dirty or you're punching weeds, straight braid is the way to go. If the water is clear I have been successfully using 55lb braid with 17lb flouro leader connected with an albright knot and krazyglue.

Is a bass some sort of elitist fish that only needs to be fished for with artificial bait? People fish for every other species of fish with live bait. Why not bass? I only use artificial as it is my preference. I don't have the patience to sit and wait for a fish to bite. I am a hunter hunting for my prize. For me it's the whole thought process which is what makes the outing enjoyable. If I am fishing with my father (not a bass fisherman) who fishes strictly live bait unless he is trolling, I end up fishing live bait like it's artificial. Cast and reel, cast and reel. I went out on a local river system today. My buddy , a walleye fisherman, was supposed to come with and we were going to fish live bait for walleye. All the reports said the walleye bite is ON. His wife wouldn't let him go. I spent about 15 min this morning debating. I would rather work for bass than sit and wait for the walleye and pannies to bite (and this is with 25mph north winds). Bass bite was tough only got 2 keepers in 6 hours of fishing and they were both caught at 7:00am. I challenged myself. That is the appeal of artificial bait. That being said, to this day my largest bass was caught on a minnow ;D.

My season started a couple weeks ago and so far so good. the bite seems a little slow but the size are of a little higher quality. Things should pick up big time in the next 2-3 weeks.

Spent 2 hours on the Fox River in the Elgin area today Picked up the little guy on a T-rigged weightless senko type bait bumblebee colored and the momma on a natural colored jig with a grub trailer. She was FAT. I'm guessing a solid 3# maybe more.

Is it in the water? I have issues with mine on ocassion. Sometimes the sensor flips up due to extremely choppy conditions. Not sure why it does that. It's just a matter of flipping it down so more of the sensor contacts the water.

Riddle me this Batman, if a drunk driver injurs or kills someone they are now partially responsible for the accident. The technology is there to install a breathalyzer on the ignition to prevent the vehicle from starting thus preventing the accident. They should know better. Almost makes it worthwhile to drink and drive. Jackpot! Sea Ray needs to hire a new person to read their crystal ball to see the stupidity out there. That would have prevented the accident.

Not my logic and also not my point. From the article. Apparently devices exist that would have prevented this injury. The reason behind those devices not being used would be central to the case. With only a single article to go off of it's impossible to tell if that device would have worked, would have been cost effective, etc. but it is possible so the case can not be dismissed out of hand. That's not relevant. Then why not hold ALL boat and motor mfgs responsible like they did the with tobacco industry lawsuits.

Agreed, if a safety device can be installed with little to no extra effort or loss of performance then it should be installed. You don't see circulating fans without guards anymore. The guard does not detract from the effectiveness of the fan. The crux of the case is going to center around how the safety device would have worked. For those of you who compare it to the Mcdonalds coffee case you may be exactly correct. McDonald's knowingly sold coffee that was significantly hotter than other restaraunts, so hot that it basically vaporized peoples skin (3rd degree burns). It was proven that they knew this and that they knew the risks and they decided that it was cost effective to pay medical damages. Their decision was based on the fact that if they sold it that hot they would have to give out less free refills so the money they saved on the free refills more than made up for the money they spent paying medical damages. So, they knowingly sold an unsafe product. Why shouldn't they be punished for that? If this case is the same then the same standard would apply. We'll never know that from a simple article though. If not, then the verdict will be tossed on appeal and no one will ever hear about it being overturned. According to your statement McDonalds had intent. According to your logic Sea Ray is purposely not installing guards to increase profit. Doesn't make sense. There are no laws or industry standards which require these devices to be installed. You stated McD's coffee was hotter than the industry standard which is where your arguement for intent comes from. How can you base a lawsuit on the way the safety device could have worked? The boat was working the way it was designed to. If the safety device was installed and failed it is a different story.

Ridiculous! According to the article there is no way the manufacture is responsible, unless the boat was custom made for Steven King and its name is Christine. How can a company be negligent for not installing a safety device that is not required by law or is not the industry standard? The boat operator is solely responsible ...End of story. If I am on the water with passengers on my boat It is my responsibility to make sure I have enough life jackets, that my boat is in a condition that is safe to operate, that I operate the boat in a safe manor, that I am aware of all my surroundings, AND that my passengers have some knowledge of what risks may be involved and not a bunch of frickin idiots. I am the captain. They were suing for medical payments. I did not see in the article was the boat owner /operator insured? That's a bozo nono. I hope SeaRay appeals and wins and SimonSays, Why do we need to put safety devices on everything? Heres a thought. EDUCATE people on how to operate a boat responsibly. I have to pass a test on how to drive a car. Why not a boat? There are no lanes or signals on water, there is no speed limit on many waters. If a 30ft Checkmate flies by a 14ft jon boat who's gonna win that situation. Seems to me there are many more hazards on the water than on land. The biggest problem is you can't teach COMMON SENSE.

They are very good reels. Built like tanks. They take a little more abuse than most reels. Maintain them and you should never have an issue. I've owned a few and still use 2 regularly. Only once have I ever had an issue. I broke the levelwind but that was from "operator error" I primarly use them for spinnerbaits, medium to large cranks, and swimbaits. Come fall they also double as my Lake Michigan salmon reels. If you want to throw lighter baits or plastics you'd probablt be better off if you chose another reel. Not saying the C3 won't work but the newer low profiles woul work easier.

great response! ...and tomorrow they'll be biting on something else. If the fish tell me what they want, who am I not to listen. I fish to "beat" the fish, if I beat my partner, that's his problem. If my partner wants to use the same bait good for him. If my partner is catching fish I will most definetly use what he's using. I might be dumb but I'm not stupid. I compete against myself, my ego, pride, skills, or whatever you want to call it. I'm critical of myself, not of my partner.

Long Mike, When it's in anchor mode, does the gps regulate the motor speed as well as direction? Do you think it could compete with a powerpole? I was looking at the ipiolit in the BPS catalog. It looks like it is just a $400. bolt on to the Terrova. I may have to upgrade from my Powerdrive.
