I'm a union pipefitter. The union classes are very thorough. You can learn alot. It shouldn't cost you anything but normal dues and book fees. As far as job security goes much of that is up to you. Right now the construction trades are slow. I'm in the service end of the business HVAC/ Refrigeration mechanic, and have not been unemployed since I joined the trades. When times are slow the best guys are working and everyone else is on the sign up sheet at the hall. As far as benefits go that probably depends on the local. I have a great benefit program which includes top of the line health insurance, a pension, 401k etc.

Immediatly post spawn for about 2-3 weeks you can't go wrong fishing the minnow school because the male is guarding them. After that it's hit or miss.

If by nature you mean the engines of 30' cigarette boats and water ski boats with there crap blaring then no, I'd rather listen to my own music. My stereo only gets one station where I primarily fish and they repeat music all day long. My son complains about the music on my Ipod. I can't win :'(

Google maps satellite view can give you an idea of how the lake is set uo along with a good topo map if they make one for that body of water.

Was out yesterday in Northern IL. Water temps topped out at 83 degrees with partly cloudy skies. Couldn't get anything on cranks, spinnerbaits, or swimbaits in deeper water, and never tried dropshoting. Killed them in less than 5fow on jignpig and senkos while dock and weedline fishing. Had a few blowups on Scumfrogs in the heavy slop but couldn't connect. Thats just the way the river system I was on fishes. 8000 acres that includes maybe 8 or 9 lakes, average depth is 5ft with max depth 30ft. BUT there is limited structure in deeper water and much of the bottom is soft or sand. I think conditions as a whole will dictate what the bass want and not just water temp.

It's broken. ;D ;D ;D Sounds like you may inadverntly stripped some gears or something along those lines. I'd recommend not using it as you may damage other parts and it will cost more to repair. BPS may replace it if it is brand new. Good Luck

Not according to the guy who fixes my reels. Just because something comes out of the same factory does not mean it's the same reel or same quality. I just had an Abu repaired and was getting insight from him on purchasing another reel. He said to stay away from the "Big box" reels for the mere fact that parts are difficult to get. I'm not saying rubba bubba is wrong but that tells me that the reel "guts" must be different from name brand reels. Anyway I got a Revo Toro 50HS which will be seeing water for the first time tomorrow. Can't wait

Suppose you know with 100% certainty that fish are located in a certain area. With the perfect presentation, let's say on a particular cast you have a 40% chance of inducing a strike. With a suboptimal presentation you may have a 20% chance of inducing a strike. With a poor presentation, you may only have a 5% chance of inducing a strike. The numbers are obviously made up, but you can see that a better presentation will improve your "luck." That would depend whether the fish are feeding or not. I'm pretty certain when fish put the feedbag on they'll pretty much hit everything. If I'm trying to induce a reaction strike your example may hold some water. I've been in that situation throwing baits at post spawn schooling bass in gin clear water. They were not feeding. Spent about 1/2 hour or so throwing everything at them before I hooked up a 4lbr, on a bait I had previously thrown. I wonder if it was persistance which irritated the fish into taking the bait. She grabbed it because it was at the right place at the right time.

I replace my spinning combos at least once a year, sometimes more. As far as baitcasters the I buy rods under $100 and replace them as needed. I have my 2 ABU reels repaired as needed, but I did purchase 3 new reels this year 2 that are junk and will be selling at the garage sale and 1 ABU Revo Toro which I ordered from Cabelas and will be picking up tomorrow. 15 years ago $100 would buy a really nice reel. Today...Not so much.

X2 The reel itself is probably worth $60. I bought a 6000 a few years back which only gets used when my 5500 c3 is being repaired /cleaned. That combo would be better suited trolling for walleye or muskies. Still a good deal.
