Where are all the Illinois Guys ?

DIY Safety Tip ~

Nothing ventured nothing gained. 2 years go I was offered a store to run, on my own, from my employer. At that point in time I was a salaried employee with almost zero responsibility and I would have had to royally screw up to lose my job. A cush job I could skate along the rest of my life making a decent living with minimal stress. The store they offered me was underperforming and sales had been stagnant for 5 years. I asked "If I can't turn it around, what happens then?" Their answer was "Then we chose the wrong person for the job" I had my concerns. I could keep my zero responsibility position and possibly get a cost of living wage increase annually or, go on commission with the sky being the limit for wages. I'm in my mid 50's and physically disabled. Not a huge job market out there for me. I mulled things around for a week and accepted the position. It's now 2 years later. My first full fiscal year in the midst of covid lockdowns, I increased sales 60%. They are now giving me an employee because I'm having difficulty handling the increased volume on my own. My employer saw potential in me that I didn't see in myself. Weigh everything out and follow the advice that @Dwight Hottle gave you- Where are all the Illinois Guys ?

Yep. 82 and still kicking. The guy next to dad with the Under Armor shirt is my cousin who flew in from TX and the guy next to me is my spawn. Mom has been gone 2 years yesterday and my Uncle, mom's brother and my cousins father, passed away a year ago on May 9th. We had a toast to them Friday after we got off the boat. We started planning next years trip. God willing dad will still be around to enjoy it. It was storming this morning as we packed up the car to leave. We lucked out with the weather.- Post a photo a day!

Fishing is totally different today than yesterday. 6 in the box. Jigs today rather than crawlers harnesses yesterday. Much slower today. Heading towards deeper water right now.- Post a photo a day!

I'm not cleaning them. I couldn't find my electric fillet knife otherwise i would. There's a free cleaning station that you can use or there's also a drop off service which is what I did.- Post a photo a day!

Tried to send you a PM....didn't work. Godspeed my friend. It's all about the pups. The passion you have towards your dogs deserves respect.- Generational fishing
I did a salmon charter out of Sturgeon Bay a number of years ago. 3 man limit of 15 fish between 10-15 lbs. The first mate had the fish filleted and packed by the time we made it back in to the dock.- Generational fishing
2 days of fishing is 48 Larger fish are much easier to fillet than panfish. Crappies, gills, and perch, I'm good for about 10 an hour. This is by hand, boneless, with a Rapala fillet knife. For larger fish, I'll use the electric fillet knife.- What Was Your Favorite One On Saturday Morning?
Midwest Outdoors and Fred Bear are the only 2 outdoor shows I remember watching in the 70's- Generational fishing
My pushback on my dad is "I have enough fish in the freezer" or "We can keep 10 panfish because I don't want to spend hours cleaning them." That being said, he's 82 and whatever time we have to spend together is a Godsend. Were I in your shoes, I would pick a different battle. I'm headed to Erie tomorrow with dad, my son and my cousin to meat fish for 2 days. Limit is 6 per man per day. If I have to fillet walleye until my arms fall off, I will.- Action camera with remote on/off?

Are you Matt Foley?- How much money have you spent on your fishing addiction?
My son was maybe 3 when I first took him fishing. He's now in his 30's, has a house on a lake and yesterday we were discussing him buying his first "real" boat. He makes more money than dad and I couldn't be prouder. The way to measure a man is thru his children. Yes, I am bragging.- How much money have you spent on your fishing addiction?
Never claimed she is the right person, only that she doesn't try to stop me from fishing ?- How much money have you spent on your fishing addiction?
While I'm not married, I've been with the same woman for 25 years or so...for worse or for better... Never once has she stopped me from fishing. The only fishing "issue" I have had with her was when I bought my Lund. We were at the dealer to look at the boat. I put a deposit down on the boat. In front of the salesman she said "You're not going to spend $XX,000 on a boat." I told her the day she starts working, she could tell me how to spend our money. Until then, I will spend my money how I want." End of story. Now, she's more upset that I sold the Lund than she was when I bought it. I just can't win. I'm sure we'll have the conversation again when I get the next boat. "You're not going to spend......"- Rate the song above you
