We didn't go. Arguing with grandma about wearing masks wasn't worth it to me. We did go to a carnival today. Grandma was wearing a mask and he and I weren't. I didn't hear the end of it. In grandma's defense, her mother is 77, has COPD, just got over a bout with pneumonia, and may have lung cancer. In my defense, we all have an expiration date. Tried to post pics of the carnival in the post a photo a day thread but I can't. Pics are too large and for the life of me, I can't figure it out.

You just reminded me, I have to clean mine. Had people over last Sunday and it was dark when we finished eating. I just threw the cover on it.

I agree to disagree. Chicago has plenty of resources. Today, the State Police increased their presence on IL highways because of a record number of shootings on IL highways. As of this morning, 185 shootings YTD on IL highways. Let me correct you. Time cannot be made up. It's the one thing we have that we will never get back. I have fished less this year than any year I can remember. But that's not all bad. Dad has been a trooper this year. 81 years old and still loves to drown a nightcrawler. Last week I hit bottom and spun the hub on the pondhopper. Dad didn't care. It was 95*, we caught a few fish, and life goes on. New prop is installed. Maybe a me and dad crappie outing on Sunday weather permitting. My eye is on the carrot at the end of the stick. My grandson is my motivation now. fishing, watersports, etc. His dad is dead(don't want sympathy, guy was a piece of crap). If I give up a fishing boat for a year or two, it's well worth it to make sure that kid has a good childhood.

I sold a 9 year old Lund back in March for roughly 4 grand less than I paid for it new. To be fair, the electronics, trolling motor and Talon were installed by me after the purchase of the boat. The depreciation from new was 4 grand plus the cost of the antiquated electronics etc.

My son has been doing some research and now thinks Clear Lake may not be the best choice based on recent reports. He said there are 2 lakes near L.A. that are considerably smaller than Clear Lake. Said one holds the CA state record. He's flying into San Francisco, was going to hit Clear Lake for 1/2 day and then head down to L.A. and eventually San Diego to finish the vacation. He's willing to change plans. Our conversation today started with he wants a DD bass and then it was 7lbs or better because that beats my PB Doesn't want to drop $400 to catch 3 pounders. I'm(he's) open to suggestions. @WRB or anyone else, any recommendations?

The city has changed a lot, and not necessarily for the better, since Mayor Daley stepped down. I'll leave it at that. Violent crime has spilled over to the Gold Coast and Shopping District. Areas that used to be safe. I moved out of Chicago 20 years ago. I'm a 1/2 hour west. Crime has been spreading into the burbs. Last Friday there was an attempted carjacking at 5:40am 5 minutes from my house. I drove past the scene at 6 on my way to work. The car owner had his concealed carry license and shot both 16 year old kids. That's right, 16 years old. Kids were caught later in the day at a hospital in a near west suburb(Oak Park) seeking medical help. The Monday prior, a Portillo's down the street from my store was robbed at gunpoint during the lunch rush. I love Chicago and hate it just the same. It's not the same city it was when I was a kid.
