You started this thread because of me mentioning a jillion years ago in another thread. How do I know I'm old??? I know when I became old. I was in my mid 30s. Two young hotties pulled up next to me at the stoplight and had me roll down my window. "Excuse me sir? Can you tell me how to get to..... It's been all downhill since then.

You mention Mom. Mom would actually thank me for not getting out of line in public. I tend to have no filter although the older I get, the less I want to deal with confrontation...but I am also less patient. Mom has been gone for 18 months or so and I still respect her authority. Everyone else's, not so much.

RIP Dan Gapen has attended the Chicago sport shows ever winter for many many year working the Gapen fishing booth. A couple years back my father and I were talking to him about whatnot. Dad, who is now 81 was talking to Dan about watching him on TV when he was young. Dan is/was only 8 years his senior. Dan may not have been a big name nationwide but he's had a huge fishing influence in the Midwest.

A jillion years ago I worked at a body shop. We had a Wrangler to plow the yard and lots from, if I had to guess, the mid 70's. It did just fine. A bit bouncy though. I think you'll be fine if you get one of the composite plows

Mind you, my brother is an owner operator with 35 years of OTR experience. Minus fuel costs, he has $100k in expenses annually just with truck/trailer payments and insurance. Add in maintenance costs and whatnot, it's not an easy deal. Take a look at Mike Rowe and what he's been doing to promote job growth in the less than glamorous industries.

It's all relative. My brother works with brokerage company's. He has a reefer trailer and runs mostly medical supplies because it pays the most. He used to run produce which pays half or less than medical. He's currently grossing $5K-$8k a week depending on what he hauls. Fortunately, he's got enough time behind the wheel he can pick and choose what he hauls.

I used to travel quite a bit to fish. My top 2 lakes to visit in the early spring would be KY Lake and Guntersville. I have fished both lakes multiple times. Neither lake is easy to fish and I haven't been to KY Lake since before the Asian carp invasion so while It's at the top of my list, that's based on pre Asian carp.

I'm not holding my breath. My brother is an owner operator. Been driving for 35 years. He's made more money in the last 2 years than he has ever made in 35 years of driving. His added expenses are getting passed along to the end user.

I don't necessarily disagree with you. To piggyback on what I posted earlier, What comes natural to every one of you does not work for me. Less emphasis should be placed on the force, and more on the mechanics of the hookset. The gear should be of the least concern.

Never had redfish but the meat looks similar to wipers.

I ordered (4) electric motors for a customer at $250. a pop. The shipper packed all 4 motors in a single box with corrugated packing material. FedEx delivered them yesterday. The shaft of one of the motors was bent as well as the mounting studs on the other 3. All garbage. Do you realize how hard an impact the box must have taken to bend a solid 1/2" motor shaft in packing material? It's not the first time I have received damaged goods from FedEx. Knock on wood, I have NEVER received damaged goods from the UPS guy and I get deliveries daily.

I'm forced to think consciously about my hookset. After I destroyed my shoulder I lost the ability to set the hook from any and every position. I've lost much of the strength in my left arm and hand as well as range of motion. I've had to learn to adapt. While I love to fish jigs and worms, I've found more success using swing head baits rather than a fixed head jig. It gives me more of a fudge factor. I'm right hand dominant. I use a right handed reel, and hold the rod in my left hand. I have to consciously set the hook straight up or towards the right. My body gravitates to set the hook towards the left. Take offense or don't, when I set the hook towards the left it's like "throwing like a girl". My son laughs at me. The fish laugh at me. My hookup percentage is probably less than 30% if I set towards the left. I fish a lot more moving baits now than I used to. Treble hooks are my friend.
