  1. I have a 2400yd spool of Realine that I have been using for years. It has been stored inside away from light probably still 1000 yds on it. How long do you think this is good for.
  2. TBC69MLXF, 6-10lb Line. Drop Shot Rod. Great for the dropshot, darter head worms, or any other finesse technique. Plenty of backbone for solid hooksets. This one would match color Dobyns Extreme Casting Rod 7' Light 701 Yes I wish I had this problem
  3. 1/4 oz jigs with Paca craws or chunks, if fish are suspended or at least feeding that way take the craw off and put on a curly tail grub and swim it. Throw a top water in the mix and you have the whole water column covered. really want to get crazy add a fat ika and senko t-rigged weightless and kiss the bait monkey good night.
  4. I use 20lb PP on a Calcutta 51 and I think the new fireline will be even better, but I havent had any problems and I aslo use this set up for redfish out of a kayak. Just loosen the drag and work with the rod to put pressure on the fish.
  5. Thanks for the info
  6. I dont know the diff in years but I have a revo s and citica e and like them both. I use the Citca on a med rod and the revo on a mh rod. Could easily trade one for the other.
  7. We could that trip, appreciate any info
  8. Paca craw chunks
  9. Anyone have any spots to take my 7 yrd old son bank fishing ? We are boatless this season and looking for some variation to our normal spots plus camping opportunities.
  10. I have the same reel and pretty much all I flip is 1/4 (mostly stumps and cypressknees). I leave 2 brakes on and the tension knob loose with some thumb action depending on how far I am piching.
  11. Anyone use these and if so how did you like them? http://www.***.com/descpage-LNWH.html
  12. I started using them and luv em. I use a mustad power loc hook and swim them along parallel to the bank and have good success. Just a steady retrieve just fast enough to get the tail thumping. Had one 2lber hit it just about as I was pulling it out of the water and he hung on.
  13. Braid will cut itself on a quick snap which will happen on a backlash. As others have mentioned use heavier on BC. I do use 10lb on spinning with no issues. I used to fish redfish tournaments years ago. When you would switch from a lighter lure to a heavy Tog Dawg if you had had any backlashes previously that where not completely picked out you could launch your lure a mile only problem was it wasn't connected to you anymore.
  14. Thanks for all the help, found a nice deal on another Revo s so at least he can use any rod in the arsenal now ;D Fish Fast pushed me over the edge!
  15. Thanks for the replys ,
  16. My son has been using a Shakespeare BC (9.99) to learn on. The Easter bunny is going to bring him a $50 BC to bring him up a notch or two. Any suggestions? The end of the progression is taken care of with some of my shimanos or abus.
  17. The hook was a gamma3/0 ewg , I even quit skin hooking it and let the tip remain exposed. I got one of the fish close to the bank before he got off and it was 2-3 lber. Upon further inspection I may of had my drag too lose : Thanks for all the help
  18. Fishing my pond today with Baby Paca w 3/0 gamy ewg and could not get a hook set to save my life. Caught one fish out of about 10. Using MH rod and 14lb test Gamma Copoly , t-rig with 1/8 bullet. Bait was on hook just like nothing happened. Any suggestions?
  19. Sorry , shipping was delayed.
  20. Just to stir up the pot a little check out the Berkley Amp rods. They have a 6' mh and 6'6" m. For the price they are great rods so far for me. I have order from here and been pleased with the service and shipping fees. http://www.johnnyspond.com/berkley-amp-series-casting-rod.html But I am the person that has always wore the $49 Justin Ropers instead of the $400 Lucchese Ropers. ;D
  21. Throw in an extra $20 and get a Pflueger President. I think Pfleuger offers a great value to performance reels. Check eBay you can get NIB reels for good prices you just have to shop and always check the sellers ratings. http://cgi.ebay.com/PFLUEGER-PRESIDENT-BAITCAST-REEL-PRESIDENT-2LP-NEW_W0QQitemZ250364263502QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item250364263502&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50 http://www.johnnyspond.com/pflueger--president-low-profile-baitcast-reels.html
  22. I have used Pflueger spinning reels for years, fishing out of a kayak in saltwater for reds, trout, flounder and bass fishing from banks, boats, crawling thru swamps and never had any issues. I do all my own maintenance on all my reels so maybe that helps but have never had to do anything other than routine maintenance. They all are made in assembly lines and when you break them down the components are not that dissimilar. For me the performance compared to price has always sold me on Pflueger. So for the topic at hand I think thats is a pretty good deal at Dicks.
  23. here is a better article http://www.insideline.net/weeklynews/08-0529.html.
  24. Here is an article on Gary yamamoto using long leaders on braid: insideline.net/articles/spinning-rod-braided.htm The article is really about selling his rods but it has some great advice on braid and leaders. I have started using about a 15' leader after reading this as I am fishing fairly shallow swamps here in the lowcountry of SC.
  25. Thanks for all the help, as I was sitting watching my son do his homework with his pencil I noticed the little rubber grip on his pencil, and there you go fits like a charm and has a nice soft but firm feel and increases the size. Just unscrew the wood handle , take a hole punch, punch a hole in the center on one side and slide it on. ;D
