  1. I use 55 lb Diawa Samuri braid..this stuff is so limp..not waxey like some lines. The only other line I tried was the Spiderwire Ultracast. I don't use any backing, the rig I haver braid on is my swimbait set up, so I need long cast's..so far I haven't had any issues at all. Look at the Samuri, good stuff..
  2. Unfortunatly...no one evere said bass fishing was cheap... IMHO, you usually get what you pay for...
  3. X 2 what Wayne said.. I use 55 lb Diawa Samuri braid on my swimbait rig, same dia. as 12 lb mono. I think depending on the application, you could spool up with whatever you wanted. I've had 8lb on one of my baitcasters, and it worked fine. The only time I would Not go to heavy is on a spinning reel, i.e. the 2500, then you want to stay under 10lb test if your using mono.
  4. If you choose YoZuri, you may want to try the Ultrasoft...has way less memory..I use on all but 1 of my rigs, both spinning and baitcasters..great stuff!!!
  5. My Son has a 2 yr old JM reel, while not as smooth as my Chronarch...it's still a nice reel...the downside is..alot of shops won't service BPS reels, or any house brands..I would still buy one, but it would have to be a good price.
  6. My leader to 55# braid is a double uni, 6 twist's on the braid, 8 twist's on the 12# fluro..hasn't failed me yet..
  7. The Palomar is a Must for ds'n...
  8. Switch over to Diawa Samuri braid... No problems with Palomar knots..
  9. I'd grab a couple of packs of Roboworms, 1 in the 6" straight tail, and 1 in the 4 1/2" size...colors are up to you, generaly any of the purples are good, i.e. Margarita Mutalator, MM III, Morning Dawn ect. IMHO, buy better stuff now, and you won't have to replace it in a month..
  10. 1/2 oz Shad lipless crank...
  11. Oh Wait..on second thought..it was a Red Devil..got that when I was about 8 yrs old..so over 50 yrs ago. Geez, it was so long ago..lol I think it was a Mepps can't recall the size, but it was the one with the black blade, with yellow dots on it. It did catch a few fish too.
  12. Yup...flyline = weightless...
  13. Next thing ya know...they'll have a automatic knot tying machine.. ;D
  14. I use the sweet beaver on 1/2 & 3/4 oz jigs for a larger profile. No problems making them stay on the jig.. What exactly are you using..i.e jig type, and trailer..?
  15. Palomar...easier to tie for all baits and hooks. As for it being difficult of certain baits with trebles..just make a bigger loop..works like a charm..
  16. G...have a look at the Diawa Samuri braid...
  17. I use 55# Samuri braid, with a trilene 100% fluro leader 3-5' long. I have a 7'6" Calcutta rod.. I do throw 6" soft Hudd's and Mattlures 6" soft baits..So far...no problems. The leader act's kinda like a shock, in that it does give some. I find that about half of the swimbait guys, do not like leaders, or braid. I like the Samuri, cuz it's really limp compared to other braids, and it cast's really well. Re: a burnner reel, I find that even with my 5:1..I'm having to crank pretty slow to get the desired retrive on certain swimbaits. The Castaic floater is a good example. BTW, I use to spool up with 12lb YoZuri Hybrid which I liked.
  18. Double gold willow blades, and a shad skirt..

Same as above, I also flyline them...I like the Ragetail lizards...great action for swimimg them over weeds and grass..
  20. X 2...plus I flyline them too..
  21. Haha...I was gonna type......wait for it...but as usual, I'm way to late.. ;D
  22. I have the rod..6'6" spinning mf...great rod for the $$$, caught alot of fish with it..Got mine as a gift..

Real Fishermen LIP their Bass... ;D
  24. I've had modrate success with mine..every fish was caught doin the yo-yo.. ;D
  25. Yeah...when you spool them, make sure the line comes off, the same way it goes on, i.e. the coils are in the same direction, if not, you'll see the line jumping off the spinning reel.
