  1. X 2...If your looking at the trout baits, the 6" weedless trout works well, the only issue is the hook eye is burried in the nose, at least on mine it is, which makes tieing on line a tad harder. Oh, this is for the Huddelston. WE all know Matt's lures rock..! Get a 6" Hudd for $15 or a Mattlures Baby Bass for $12. You will be much happier.

    IMHO..all ragetail baits are good..!!!
  3. Thanks for the info. I took an old spinnerbait, and managed to get the wire straight enough to remove the colorado blade, and the beads..The problem is bending back to the orignal shape, which is Very hard to do. I really don't want to buy a wire bender, so I'll just buy Northland spinners with tandem gold willows and swap out the skirts.. :-[
  4. I use 10# yozuri on both my m & mh..stuff is strong enough. Now if your fishin heavy cover, I'd go up to 12 or 15..
  5. Ya know...if you were to put those fish in a 100 gal. tank, they'd be even happier.. The bigger the tank, the better they grow..
  6. Good point re: the 79's....could be a potential gem in the future...complete restoration could fetch a nice amount down the road..
  7. You might ask Bantam in the Shimano forum..
  8. I use either my 5.2:1, or 6.3:1, I prefer the 6.3, unless I'm using slowroller willow blades.
  9. I had a 93 F150 xtra cab,2wd, long bed I sold 2 yrs ago for 1500.00...paint was oxidized, body was in good shape, interior was cloth, no tears, had a new sony stereo..custom wheels. 5.8 liter v8 auto 153k. Take what you can..
  10. For smaller plastic 6" swimbaits, the Huddelson works best for me, I have an assortment of Castaic, and others, the hud is my goto swimbait..The weedless version kicks a$$...
  11. I was at anglers marine looking at those today..and yep kinda spendy...so I bought some Northland spinnerbaits at long fin instead, swapped out the skirts, and an good to go..adds up to less than 6.00 per bait...and they are by far the killer bait.. BTW, you want spendy spinnerbaits..? have a look at the river2sea ones..
  12. Haha...I guess 4 is the magic number..I have 4 different brand rods, but only 2 different brands of reels...I got use to them fairly quick. For some it may make a difference, not to me.
  13. They look Much happier...
  14. I think in the last 30 yrs. I've caught crappie on just about every kinda line, cept braid and such..also ever brand...mono worked fine for all those yrs..no fancy line needed...pick your brand and go get em..
  15. First, I need to know how you guys swap blades. I tried once, was able to get the trailing blade (willow) but couldn't get the colorado blade off, as the beads wouldn't come off the wire, cuz I couldn't bend it straight enough... :-[ What I'm trying to do is...1/2 oz spinner, shad skirt, with 2 gold willow blades..this pattern is deadly..tia.
  16. Uhhh.............sure.. ;D
  17. Spinning..? 6# I use mist green.. Baitcaster..10# also green..btw, I use the ultrasoft on all my reels...w/o any problems.
  18. Happy Thanksgiving to all as well. If your alive, give thanks to those that gave their lives so we may live in a free country.
  19. Depends on the time of year..i.e. during the spawn, probably not, fish will swim Very close to shore and don't get spooked by much..when they are inactive, I think they spook much easier , also depends on the lake, fish ect. Some lakes have bass that will run for cove at the drop of a pin, or the slightest movment, others the fish are much bolder...so who could say for sure..?
  20. First off, andf this is for the OP..El D as we call it, is Very high pressured place. As such, the bass become conditioined to seeing all kinds of lures. At the present time they are stocking the 2 larger lakes with trout, so the bigger bass are keying in Live bait fish. BTW, at the above mentioned place, there is no float tubing, can only fish from shore, and it's fairly shallow, with the water being slightly stained to clear. Best 2 baits to toss right now are swimbaits in trout, and spinnerbaits around the tullies, imho these are your 2 best bets, that's not to say you can't catch them on anything else. BTWm I have been there the last 3 days, and got the big skunk all 3. The bite has been really tough, for getting quality fish other than dinks.
  21. 4" robo straight tail..either ds'd or shakey head. Fat Ika t rigged upside down weightless..
  22. X 2..use a misqito hook...
  23. None of the MH shimano rods are "whippy" as far as I'm concerned..Only ones that are whippy are the Lxf tods.
  24. That's it....I'm movin to FLA... ;D Nice bass...your Mom gets a big congratz..
  25. I do my own cleaning, and lubing..I did find out 1 thing re: reel service...most places that I inquired about doing a service and bearing upgrade, won't touch Okuma, or BPS reels...I happen to have a bps extrem which was making some noise while cranking, I tightened all the screws, cleaned and reoiled it..works fine...for now.. ;D
