I keep seeing people say they use jerkbaits. I wanna say I KNOW they mean soft ones since you can fish them fast or slow....but...would I be right? : Prog

I'm pretty sure Zoom makes "salty flukes". A partner of mine showed me how he texas rigs them with 1/8 oz bullet weights when the bite is off and he cleans house with it, but it's not the norm. Prog

Wow. Mother nature definately showed us who was boss that day. 3 layers of clothes and still soaked to the bone and half froze. Couldn't even keep the boat in one place the wind was so strong. By far the worst conditions I've ever fished. Sam, we fished from the landing down to the 295 bridge before heading back to the bend to try and stay out of the wind. I was with Matt because my partner didn't show, as did a couple of others due to the weather. Better than working, but it sucked. Prog PS: Roger won with a limit, I got skunked again, Matt caught one. There were only three limits I think.

I have my last tourney of the year tomorrow morning on the James River in Va. Calling for thunderstorms and rain all day. Low 42 high 58. A tidal river. Mostly wood, some rip rap and barge pits. Any suggestions on that little bit of info? I'm rigged with a swimmin' jig, spinnerbait, buzzbait, shakey head, and Zoom Fluke jr. Planning on heading into the very back of a creek opposite where most everyone else will be going. Prog PS: This is only my fourth time on a tidal river.

I didn't start catching them on tubes till this year. Now it's my favorite plastic bait to use. I use Strike King Bleeding Bait tubes,4" Yum tubes, and Venom tubes. Usually stick to green pumpkin, watermelon seed w/ red flake and black and chartreuse. I also use 5/0 Owner Phantom Tube hooks after experimenting with just about every set up there is. Sometimes I'll t-rig a Gammy with a bullet weight if I need good penetration. Prog

Due to space and price per bait, was thinking of retiring my hard jerkbait fleet in favor os soft plastics. What would be the downside, if there is one? Marion

This is great info guys. I STILL haven't caught one on a jig, but I know I will sooner or later. I've even got a favorite jig already even though I haven't caught one because I'm confident I will. I had two strikes on my Picasso jig this morning. Ultimately, my 3 bass came off a chatterbait and a finesse worm. Oddly enough, one of the bass caught on the chatterbait was the same four pounder I caught on the Blade Dancer around 3 or 4 weeks ago. Same snelled hook buried in the top of his mouth, same ball of line down his throat. I high fived him and said "Seeya......" : Prog

One problem with fishing in the rain is focus. People start thinking about how hard it's raining, when's it gonna quit raining, my GAWD it's a gullywahser! Then they're thinking about the cellphone in their pocket, when's the rain gonna stop, thinking about the 50 dollar bill in their wallet that might be getting wet.
