  1. Hey bigrickrolled, is the reel you put on it light or on the heavier side? Do these rods balance better with a light reel or are they a good match for the zillion reel?
  2. I like the E a lot better and have fished both extensively. Aside from being smaller, it's also lighter. It's also smoother on cast and retrieve to me. IMO it's just a better reel all the way around and cannot be beat for the money.
  3. C=casting and S=spinning. Thats the same with numerous rod manufacturers though.
  4. Well I went ahead and grabbed one off of ebay. It's the brown blank which I believe is the older version. I got the 7' MH/F. I also picked up a legend extreme off ebay. I can't wait for em to get here. thanks fellas.
  5. Anybody know anything about these rods. I've been looking at a couple online but I've never held one in person. The main things I am interested in are weight and sensitivity. How do these compare to other upper end rods in those categories?
  6. Koopa? I'll take a few at that price.
  7. Where can Kistler Argons be bought for 135 bucks?
  8. Just for reference, Shimano calls the compre IM8, the crucial IM9, and the cumara IM10. The funny part is there is no real IM rating standard. What Shimano calls IM10, another company might call IM8 and so on. Bottom line though is that it's not gonna be up there with a glx. For that kind of money I would look at a used cumara.
  9. When you get em be sure to let us know what you think of em. I'd be interested to know how they compare to the higher end rods as far as weight and sensitivity. Also I'd like to know if they're a little tip heavy or not.
  10. Thanks for posting this. It's the first time I've seen their response. I for one hope they stick around and produce the quality we all expect for our money. I've enjoyed my 2 ltx's but I've been hesitant about the gold stix i want because I'm worried about how long the company will be around. I need to email em about their website. It's horrible. Actually that's been one of my main concerns. How can I take the company seriously when they don't have a decent website that lists all the models. I think the product is there it just seems like they need some leadership.
  11. an mbr843 or mbr844 in imx or glx should do the trick.
  12. shimano crucial 7'11" cranking stick. right price. right rod. look into the powells as well.
  13. Thanks guys. Do they feel as smooth spooled up as they do in the stores empty? How is the adjustability of the brakes compared to shimano? Is it set it and forget it?
  14. I'm thinking of picking up an 09 energy pt to try out. Anybody here using one? How do you like it? I've been messing around with it in bps but I can't make myself buy it. Somebody push me over the edge.
  15. I agree with Dink on this one. I would go with a dedicated flipping rod in the 7'6" range and heavy power with a fast tip. You could also throw small to medium swimbaits on it. Just use your soft plastics rod for pitching as thats how you will probably throw them most of the time anyway. I would go with 6'10" or 7' for that one in mh/f or xf.
  16. Curado E5 Crucial 7'11" Crankbait Rod This is the perfect deep cranking setup in my opinion. You could spend more money but I don't think you could get a better setup. This leaves you close to $100 to spend on a new box full of dd22's, rapala dt20's among others.
  17. I agree that the curado E's are awesome reels. I've got the e5 on my deep cranking stick and I'm about to pickup an e7 for my c-rig rod. The Core is where it's at though. I'll never get rid of mine. I even like it better than the calais. BTW if you guys haven't tried a Citica E you should. I know it's a citica, but it's a sweet reel especially for the money. Way better than the citica D.
  18. The new citica E and a carrot stick would be a great first combo. Heck that setup should be one you can keep forever.
  19. The carrots are good rods man. Every kind of rod will have some break. I actually used to not like em because I thought they were kinda cheesy. Then I tried my brothers and fell in love with em. This past weekend I took one of my Loomis rods back and got 2 carrot sticks. I got a 7'2" m/m crankin to throw 1/2-3/4 oz rattle traps and medium diving cranks and I got the 7'3" mh/f to throw bigger jigs and big worms and plastics in deeper water. The 7'3" is rated at a max of 7/8 lure weight and it can handle every bit of that and probably a little more, it's pretty stout. I think I could throw 1 oz spinnerbaits on it if need be. Bottom line is they are light, sensitive and have a great warranty. Plus the guys at my BPS said they haven't had any come back and they are shimano rod pushers. I think the 6'9" mh/f would be a good choice for all around worm fishing and you could throw a lot of other stuff with it as well.
  20. Thanks guys, I'm gonna try to reel a little slower and use my finger to keep it more even. The spool looks like the red line and it may actually be a little higher in the middle than the red line. It's just hard for me to put the right amount of line on with it doing this. I usually go about an 1/8th of an inch from the top of the spool but with it doing this that means the center is even or higher than the spool.
  21. I bought a calais 200a and everytime I spool it up it piles up in the middle of the spool and low on the sides. I've tried playing with the spool tension but it still does it. The reel is still smooth as silk but it bothers me to look down at it. Any ideas?
  22. I would like to know this as well. I asked about the argon on here the other day and didn't get any responses. I don't think they're really popular yet. I think I've decided to go with a dobyns 705cb for my light to medium cranking but I'm still interested in the argons as well.
  23. Hey guys, I found a champion 187 for sale locally for 11 grand. It's a 2004 model with a xr6 150 mercury. It's got a lowrance on the bow but the screen looks pretty bad and it's missing the graph at the console. Other than that it's in really good shape with a minn kota 65# trolling motor, dual console, two coolers, plenty of rod and bait storage and a big livewell. The seller says everything works great even the graph up front and he says it'll run around 70 mph. The boat is red and black with the factory trailer with good tires and everything. Only thing is he does not know the hours. Does this sound like a good deal? I'm using a older 17ft bass tracker now but I want something a little more stable. Can you guys give me any info you know on champion boats or this model? Oh yea, it's also got a tempest stainless prop in perfect shape. thanks
  24. These things have my attention but I'd like some info from somebody thats fished with one. What would they be comparable to as far as weight and sensitivity? Any info would be great.
  25. Yea, I'm gonna throw my 3/4 oz traps on it to. I throw a lot of the rapala clack n raps and red eye shads. I'm also gonna get either a dobyns 705 or a kistler argon 7'2" m/f crankbait rod to throw my smaller cranks and traps but I should be able to load each up with a big crank and be ok if I need to. I had the crucial recommended to me by a lot of good fishermen and with the warranty and the fact that our BPS keeps them in stock in case I break it, I had to try one out. The price is good on em too, a little over 300 for a quality setup is a nice deal.
