  1. Pins all the way down is off and all the out in on I do every other one
  2. I've fished B.A.S.S., Bass Champs, Bass-N-Bucks and McDonald's Big Bass Splash. You must have proof of insurance, boat registration, USCG max outboard plate, working live well, and meet all USCG safety regulations. Most except for B.A.S.S. will not ask unless you have won money but B.A.S.S. wants it up front. B.A.S.S. is the only one that requires a minimum of $100,000 of insurance coverage.
  3. Its official it was a 20 pound bass that ate a 3 pound shiner! ;D
  4. Fishing from the back of the boat underrated? I've kept detailed records of every trip to Toledo Bend since 1972; many of these trips were with my good friend Patrick C. Miller. We both spend close to the same amount of time in the bow seat as we do in the rear seat. According to these records we are dead even on numbers of fish caught from each position. But keep in mind we don't try to position the boat to where one has an advantage over the other I've always believed Pro/Am tournaments should be the combined totals of both stringers thus forcing the Pro to actually teach the amateur.

I carry a portable radio/ CD player all the time, KYKX 105.7 FM Longview, Texas broadcast weather alerts for area lakes. They sponsor many tournaments on area lakes including the Big Bass Bonanza so if I aint got a CD on I listen to them. I've been doing this since 1982 when I fished their 3rd annual tournament and have never seen listening to a radio affect my fishing.

How y'all are Feel free to wonder over to the Dark Side and introduce yourselves
  10. I use Berkley Big Game on all my rods except for my flipping stick; the reason I change it every other trip is because I fish heavy cover. Yes you could just check the first 20 yards for nicks and probably be safe but what if it's nicked farther up? At the price of Big Game change it and have the piece of mind of knowing it's all good.
  11. Gee did we wake up in a mood? Yes this is one subject that irritates me as well, not just in losing a fish but in casting as well. Fighting a fish or casting a lure is done with the power of your rod & reel not with the power of your arm. Kent it's Sunday morning so preach on brother

  15. Jumping with joy
  16. Well jump right on in there 1: During a 3 day tournament the pros have an amateur in the boat for the first 2 days but on the final day he can be alone or with a camera man. 2: There is random drug testing and polygraph tests for the winners 3: hundreds 4: Cell phones can be carried for emergencies 5: Anglers leave single file, usually 3 minutes apart after receiving assigned numbers. Shot gun starts are outlawed due to extreme danger evolved
  17. "Our studies show that NASCAR fans are twice as likely to be boaters and fishermen than the rest of the population," McNeilly said. He needed a poll to figure that out, coulda just asked us
  18. I like red headed scoundrel he cracks me up ;D
  19. justfishin idea is one I do always 8-) Most electrical problems are the ground
  20. When I'm fishing a jig it's in thick matted hydrilla and I don't think which way the eye of the jig is facing matters.
  21. Blanked that was 66 full days/nights on the big pond To establish a pattern every fish caught regardless of size is telling you some thing all you need to do is pay attention. One can look at patterns in broad terms such as spinner baits fished in 6-10' of water around wood. One can look at patterns in detail such as slow rolled 3/8 oz single Colorado/silver white shirt spinner bait fished in 8' of water around oak trees on a ridge.
  22. Kids now days I swear talking on the phone while fishing, setting the hook with one hand, now aint that a pretty picture?
