  1. Got over them melting together 50 years ago & ain't looked back. R.O.F.! There will be times a heavier jig with a faster fall rate will out produce light-n-slow.
  2. Shallow water ? Some of our marshes are only 2' of water. I throw a 1/4 oz Rat-L-Trap, hold the rod tip high & burn it. You will see the wake coming for it! I never yo/yo a Trap! I adjust how deep it runs by speeding up or slowing down, raising the rod tip or dropping it. I will even kneel-n-reel a Trap. Y'all be surprised how far a bass will come to eat a Trap.
  3. I have Lew's Team Lite, Lew's has replaced it with Tournament Lite. I don't see any advantage to pick the Custom Lite over the Tournament Lite.
  4. Medium Heavy X-Fast for both My current worm rod is a Powell Inferno MH X-Fast while my jig rod is a Dawia Tatula MH X-Fast. Medium heavy is supposed to be directly between medium & heavy. My Inferno leans slightly towards medium while the Tatula leans more towards heavy. Texas Rigs I tend to use "lighter" wire for hooks while jig hooks tend to be thicker.
  5. I throw Zoom's Trick Worms weightless with my Calcutta 100A. Ya gotta get the rod a little bit of credit.
  6. Carolann bought me a Shimano Chronarch when they first came out. Don't like that reel because I was used to Calcuttas. Took the reel back & exchanged it for a Calcutta 50A. We came to an agreement, I don't buy her jewelry & she doesn't buy me fishing tackle. I buy what I want, she buys what she wants.
  7. I throw the 4"-5"-6" both as jig trailers & Texas Rigged. In my opinion two the biggest mistakes Gene Larew made was discontinuing the Hawg Craws & Ringworms.
  8. Braid - frogging & punching Mono - everything else Flouro - trash can
  9. Santone Lures Chris McCall Rayburn Swim Jig. They come in 3/16, 5/16, & 7/16 oz https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Santone_Lures_Chris_McCall_Rayburn_Swim_Jig/descpage-SANTRSJ.html
  10. I have a couple Zara Poochs, as mentioned they are hard to walk. The lures @Captain Phil mentioned is the direction I went. Every Wally World down here sales them, that's how popular they are.
  11. If you're changing because you think there's an advantage you will be disappoint. In my opinion it should be about comfort. The more comfortable you are, the more confident you will be, the more confident you are, the more efficient you will be.
  12. Did the exact same thing! My left handed reel has been collecting dust in a closet since the mid 80s. When I switch hands the lure is still in the air so there is no wasted time.
  13. 5 or 6 inch Hawg Craws are hard to come by & my stock is getting depleted. I do throw Zoom's Ultravibe Speed Craw or Rage Bug.
  14. Jig-n-Craw ?

I realized years ago about iconic lures like the Daredevle, Creme Scoundrel, Yamamoto Senko & others is their simplistic design. This is why my approach to bass fishing is K.I.S.S!

Down on the Gulf Coast it was & still is the Johnson Sprite® Spoon. These types of spoons are absolutely killer on Bull Reds. Never seen a Daredevil spoon until my teenage years.
  17. Are you allowed access to the entire shoreline? I kinda like this area if this is in fact your lake.
  18. Absolutely love the holidays, all of them! We usually put Christmas decorations up today the day after Thanksgiving & take them down the day after New Year's. I raised 6 kids, when they got old enough they took over decorating. I'm raising 2 grandkids & they have taken over.
  19. Jon boat, 14' long with a minimum of at least a 44-48" bottom width.
  20. @volzfan59 Yes sir! My youngest daughter is Pastry Chef for Golden Nugget Casino. The Casino Chefs cook the desserts for Saltgrass & Landry's Seafood. Landry's owns Saltgrass & both are located here in the Golden Nugget Casino.
  21. Tommy T's famous dirty rice, cornbread dressing, mashed potatoes/milk gravy, candied yams, corn casserole, geenbean casserole. Aunt Candice's banana pudding, sweet potato pie, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, Saltgrass's pecan pie bread pudding, old fashioned fudge from scratch. Fried Turkey, Cajun sausage & smoked ham.

One tradition in our family is to pass them down to the younger generations. Starting this year grandsons are stepping up to take over frying Turkeys correctly. Granddaughters are learning recipes from mawmaws & Aunts. Blessed beyond measure!
