First fish on a Strike King product for 2011 Contest
So on Facebook I noticed a contest just prior to the new year. First person to catch a fish on a Strike King product, posts it to their page wins a prize package. I said what the hell and grabbed a rod while I was watching the fireworks out back. Ended up catching a small fish (1-1.5 pounds) on a Rage Craw, snapped a picture and sent it in. Got a message from Chris Brown telling me that I won and they'd send out a prize pack. Now I figured that I'd probably get a few lures a hat or something like that. When FedEx dropped off this huge box I was plenty surprised. This is what I found inside: Rage Tails: 2 Craw 2 Baby Craw 2 Smokin Rooster 2 Rage Hawg 2 Space Monkey 2 Toad 2 Eeeliminator KVD's Perfect Plastics: 2 Ocho 2 Rodent 2 6.5" Finesse Worm 2 Caffeine Shad Other: 2 Shadalicious 2 Football Jigs 2 Shaky Head Jig Hard Baits: 2 Red Eye - Gold Sexy Shad 2 Red Eye - Sexy Shad 2 Series 5 Cranks 2 Series 3 Cranks 2 Spit-n-King 2 Burner Spinnerbaits 2 Buzzbaits 2 King Shad Miscellaneous: 2 Coffee Scent 2 Hats 2 Sunglasses 2 Catalogs Pretty darn cool. Thanks a whole bunch to Strike King and Chris Brown for putting that together.

In a fit of absolute madness...
I started using that knot a few months back for fluoro connections. Exceedingly fast to tie. Works great. I can tie a good Palomar, but there are still the times where I've broken it from not taking the extra moment to seat it properly. Never had a problem with the 16-20. The old uni-knot works just as well.

Peacock Bass Fishing
Definitely going to need to head south a bit more than the Deerfield area. I haven't been to the canal on Griffin for a while, after last years cold front I didn't see any in there for a while. With the cold weather we're having on and off right now, the Peacocks really aren't biting much right now. If we get a few days of warm weather, they'll start to come back out. I've seen a few in my lake buried up in grass trying to stay warm. This last cold front pushed them back into the deeper parts of the lake where the water is a still a little warmer.

Soft bodied swimbait
Dippers and Swim Senkos. Easy enough right there.

Check your Dicks Sporting Goods
Hit mine up earlier. Gotta love the 50% off deal. It's not just on stuff that ends in .97, it's also for things that are .93. Bought a bunch of stuff for like 15 bucks. Probably end up swinging by there again tomorrow since I'll be in the area.

Thinking about buying a new jon boat what to do
Looks like it should be a heck of a jon. Trackers have developed a bad reputation over the years, so you may want to either search around for info on that model, or do a little shopping for something else in the same price range. One thing you will need for a welded jon, especially that size is a trailer. The one in the link you posted is priced for the boat only. Be prepared to spend a few more bucks on that.

Best line for jig / worm fishing
SoFlaBassAddict replied to Ineedanewscreenname20170204's topic in Fishing Rods, Reels, Line, and KnotsI've tried out Yo-zuri and various 100% fluoros for my worm and jig fishing. After messing around with all of them for a while, I've gone back to my tried and true braid with a fluoro leader. Theres just something about the incredible feel that you get with it that I love. The fact that I can effortlessly set the hook at any distance is another major plus in my book.

Best mid grade Rod?
Crucial or Avid. Both of them are fine rods and very comparable to each other. Personally, I prefer the way the Crucial line feels in my hands better. Either one would serve you just fine.

Calling on South Florida Anglers
Going to end up being a few thousand bucks. I'm planning on keeping mine right around 3k if I get the opportunity to go. It's almost two grand for the lodge and fishing. 5 days 4 nights of fishing. Gotta pay airfare, etc etc. Don't forget the 100 bucks for the big fish pot. Link to the thread Robert started: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1294090186

Good deal @ Dick's
I went out to my local Dicks today... Wish they had Rage Craws, but none there. Bought a bunch of Rage Baby Anacondas, chunks, shads, and space monkeys all for 1.98 a pack. Strike King spinnerbait trailer hooks ended up being like .23 cents a pack after the discount, some more tungsten weights for under a buck a pack. I may be forced to go back later today or tomorrow to clean them out of the rest of the stuff...

Anyone know Samuel Brock from Jacksonville Florida ???
Wait, wait. Let me guess. "Sam" scammed somebody else? If it's the same guy, he's been banned by several different websites, I believe this one as well. Reportedly there are several groups of people that have pending legal action against him as well. Good luck.

Drop Shot Weights
I've been happy with Voss drop shot weights. Cheap and they work just fine.

Everstart on Big O
Wasn't on Okeechobee, but I went out earlier today to one of the lakes down here. Plenty of bass that are starting to bed. Found one absolute giant that didn't want anything to do with me. The fun part of the year is starting.
