  1. They are Starflash 2 strand fine silicone. They are 5" long and the rubber band is about in the middle.
  2. I bought some jig skirts to replace some on jigs. When I put them on, the short end of the strands doesn't fold back so it looks like a monster finesse jig. Should I cut these back to the band, or is there a trick to getting them to flow back? I tried rolling the band forward and that helps a little. Any asvice would be appreciated.
  3. Buckeye Spot remover pro with a Hags Tornado
  4. Wait until TW has a 15% off sale and look at a St Croix Premier med fast. It will run about $110.50
  5. Keep receipts from Academy and if anything goes wrong they replace it if it is their brand. I had a 2 year old Ethos Rod, which was really nice. I broke the tip, brought it in and they gave me a new one. Their Mettle casting reels are really smooth.... Not as great as Shimano or a Tatula but if you are on a budget you can't beat them, especially on sale.
  6. I use BPS to test out reels and rods, then shop at TW when they have sales.
  7. I throw 5" wacky rigged GY Senkos on a baitcaster. It is tough into the wind but on calm days, or wih the wind, no problem. Things like rooster tails or weightless Keitech swing impacts go on my spinning set up.
  8. If price is a really big factor try this one Academy H2O XPRESS® Ethos 7' MH Freshwater Casting Rod $59.99 and even cheaper when they have sales which should be coming up soon.
  9. Wacky rigged Senko TX rigged baby brush hog Bitsy bug with a paca chunk trailer Keitech swing impact or Zoom Tiny Fluke
  10. I'd rank Pro Qualifier as the best "bargain reel". If you have a BPS near you, try to get over there this Friday. The PQ will be $49.95 and that is a steal. The previous model Mettle was great especially when it went on sale for $29.99. I'm sure the new one is just as good but wait until it goes on sale. I have a couple of the previous model and they are great.
  11. Chigger Craw Paca Chunk
  12. I use the Academy H2O deluxe soft tackle bag. I keep a couple of small Plano boxes on the outside pockets with terminal tackle and a few crankbaits. Inside the main flap I keep Senkos, Hags Tornados, Baby Brush Hogs, Rage Craws, and some Keitech Swing Impacts. http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/h2o-xpress-deluxe-soft-tackle-bag/pid-312351?color=Blue&N=272574546
  13. Hope they have the trade in promotion too.
  14. I have a chance to get one from a friend. If you have one or have fished one, can you provide some feedback? It says it's for shakey heads and light jigs. Have you fished any other techniques with it?
  15. Hags Tornado stands straight up and has some really nice colors. I use the 5" size. Great scent too.
  16. Not sure about N Ga. But these work for me in N Tx Baby brush hog in some kind of watermelon color for TX Rig Picasso or Buckeye Spot Remover shaky head and a Hags Tornado for the bait Don't give up on jigs. There is a lot of information on these forums on how to fish them. I bank fish and found going from 3/8 to 1/4 or even smaller like a Strike King Bitsy Bug 3/16 was the trick. Keitech Swing Impact for a swimbait. Maybe add a top water like a popper. This is a short list.
  17. Berkley power bait10" power worm in Motoroil. It's a killer TX rigged.
  18. I noticed mine really loosened up after a couple of casts and getting it soaked in water.
  19. I'm going to try drop shot from the bank this year. I plan to use spinning gear. The water is 3-6' deep, clear, with some gravel, grass, lots of leaves, and milfoil. What line and test do you think would be good? Braid to fluoro, straight fluoro, mono, copolymer....?
  20. Big 'un thanks for the video. I'm gonna try DS this Spring.
  21. Can you drop shot from the bank into max 5' of water?
  22. I got some roboworms for Christmas. I've never fished them but see one of the most popular ways is to use it on a drop shot. I don't fish drop shot. Can they be used on shaky heads? Or do you have another way to rig them?

Bitsy bug in green pumpkin with a green pumpkin Paca Chunk trailer.
  24. I have used copolymer Silver Thread AN40 for years. Casts a mile, very abrasion resistant, and virtually invisible. I have never had a tangle with this on my spinning reel. Here's their description: Designed with an incredibly small diameter, this line can really cover the distance. The AN40 formula is very limp and supple, making it a favorite among fishermen. If you require long casts and low underwater visibility to get close to the fish, look no further than AN40. Also like the Silver Thread Excalibur. It's available at Luremet.com and Tackle Warehouse. It's not expensive.
