I use a number 1 KVD Short Shank or a Gamakatsu EWG in 2. Stock hooks are a 2.

If I went the rest of my life and never used another spinning set up I would be ok. I learned on baitcasters and I much prefer using them. I own spinning gear but I rarely break them out.

In my opinion, a sq bill should be fished fast most of the time. I shoot for a fast, erratic retrieve so I like a faster reel, usually in the 6's. I reserve slower reels for deep cranking and deep spinnerbaits.

Nothing wrong with using a 6'8" rod for frogging. Dean Rojas uses a 7' rod, only a few inches difference. As long as you aren't sloppy with your hooksets it should be fine.

You can find new Costas on Ebay for cheap. Everything seems legit but I don't know.

You can also smash the barbs down so the hooks are removed more easily. It won't prevent them from getting hooked deep but it should help them survive.

I have 5 or 6 rods that I might throw jigs on. It just depends on cover, jig weight and open rods available.

That makes sense but the Curado has only been out for what, a year? I don't see them getting rid of a new platform Curado that quickly. I see what you're saying about the Chronarch G but they caught so much hell the last time they did that. But, if the MSRP of the Citica really is $150 and they are selling Curados for less than that, it makes sense. ICAST will be interesting this year.

Buy some 14 lb mono to start with. Trilene XL is a good line. There is no need to over complicate things right now. A good mono will get you fishing and won't cost a fortune if you backlash badly and have to cut some out. Keep it simple.

What side of the reel the handle is on shouldn't make any difference in sensitivity or bite detection. Make sure you're working baits with the rod and not the reel. I can see bites being harder to detect if you're reeling when the bite happens. Find a comfortable position for your hand and don't squeeze the rod too tight. Your rod might not be very sensitive but changing reels isn't going to help that. You might do better with a left handed reel but it won't make your set up anymore sensitive.

I use a palomar or a SD Jam tied to an oval split ring.

I've got a stash of them, I always buy more when I see them at a good price. They are really good wakebaits.

In my opinion the Tatula combo can't be beat for right around $200-$225. I would probably get the 7' Med Reg action as an all around cranking rod and the 6'10" MH Fast as a good worm and multi purpose rod.
