  1. While I do agree with you, you have to understand that not everyone has 40 years of bass fishing experience. Heck, half of these guys are just learning how to use baitcasters. If a fisherman doesn't have the best fundamental rod and reel control, mono isn't going to be the best choice for fishing heavy cover with a frog. That's probably the reason so many use braid for every other technique where line strength shouldn't be a concern.
  2. I always thought he was one of the coolest guys in "X Games sports" back in the day. He was a bada$$. RIP Dave
  3. I never use weight with Flukes, unless on a c-rig.
  4. I don't see how a Curado would be harder to set up than a Chronarch CI4, I own both reels and haven't noticed any difference. They both have the same braking system.
  5. If you like the Calcutta, check out the Conquest! The Curado I will be a great first baitcaster though. Check Ebay for prices, no need to pay MSRP.
  6. It's one of the most treatable forms of cancer, IF you catch it early. Who knows, you might even enjoy it.
  7. Zoom WEC E1, pricey but worth it when you get a good one. Megabass S Crank, also pricey but something different.
  8. I have a 100 d set up that way, it's a fun reel to fish. I recently aquired a pair of 100 b's, I didn't know the 50mg spool would fit them. I might have to find one too.
  9. There you go, that answers that.
  10. Agree completely, the Citica can be found for basically the same price as the Casitas. Go with the aluminum framed Citica.
  11. For me, braid and big baits don't go together. I would spool it up with 17-25lb mono or copoly, depending on the weight of the baits you plan to throw.
  12. My first lure was probably a small Road Runner. I don't really remember though, I couldn't have been more than 4 years old.
  13. I like the Gunfish 135. It's 5.5" and a full ounce. You might take a look at the Gunfish 117, it's got that shape but is only 4.5" and 3/5 of an ounce. It sells for only $9-$10 All the Gunfish are great but they aren't shaped the same. I know Evergreen also makes a similar bait that comes in a couple of sizes called the Shower Blows. They are a little more pricey than the Gunfish. TW carries all these baits.
  14. I've got a little experience with Super as well. I haven't had any problem with it either. Anytime I need a cheaper fluoro, this is the one I buy. I like it a lot better than Red Label also.
  15. I'm not a big spinning guy so I won't try to compare it to a Stradic, since I haven't used one. That said, I do really enjoy the ex.
  16. Yeah, it was a deal breaker for me too.
  17. I was going to buy a Stradic FK, the new one, but it doesn't have the "back reel" switch. I got a Daiwa Ballistic EX instead and couldn't be happier with it.
  18. Cathy's "no" is an affirmation of Bryan's statement. She's agreeing with him, that they are not the same.
