This might explain the "One place was nailed for "prostitution" I'm betting that for the $700 / day in tips that not everything being sold is listed on the menu!

I'm thinking that being the guy loading explosives during a bomb threat might qualify for almost getting you killed on its own. Wrong whacko here's about the threat, sees you climbing with explosives and decides to be a hero and pick you off or something! just a thought lol

I can think of a few. The grand prize winner was a 1/24th(? think huge cars) scale slot car race set complete with a high banked oval! Oh we were the talk of the town fo rmonths. I think the thing took up at least 1 if not 2 4x8 sheets of plywood. I heard that thing was so cool that my uncle and parents stayed up all night playing with it. When morning came and they took us to the basement to see it the cars were still warm! A couple of others come to mind: Photo Electric football Monday night football Some nice huge Tonka firetrucks all heavy guage metal. We were not exactly well to do so the sacrifice that my parents made must have been extrordinary. I remember well into my adulthood my mother telling me that on a daily basis she waited for all of us to eat and ate what was left. She said many a night she was pretty hungry after dinner. We as kids had no idea that this was happening.

kind of x2 for me. I bought 2 spools of line and it took forever to get them. Another member ( I don't remember who maybe KU(?) pm'd me behind the scenes to warn me that although he got his stuff it took forever. I got mine with an apology, a throw in and an explanation of being a finance guy at a car dealer thus being busy. It seemed like he had made a pretty good comeback after that. Like others said lots of quality posts etc. I thought I had read once that he had moved somewhere ( from MI to Texas or OK or something. ) I just couldn't shake the feeling though that with several shaky deals that something just wasn't right. Who knows maybe he ( if even him ) just got caught up in some bad habit and saw no way out. Around here with the river boats people are going to prison regularly for getting their hands in the co till. I think that down deep he is probably a good guy. I think you can pray for someone to wish them well and to hoe that they turn their life around. I think you can do that but still demand that they pay for their actions. Keep in mind it is not just him you will be praying for but his family and relatives who are also affected by this.

Sorry to play the devil's advocate but it is not appropriate for a teacher to take HS kids to Hooters. In this age of the Mary Kay Letourneau type issues you are setting a school system up for a lawsuit. Somewhere exists a line where adults are adults and kids are kids. Kids need to be kids they have forever to be adults. I'm no prude, far from it to be exact and if I was the HS kid heck yes I'd have wanted to go. Adults need to lead by example and Hooters is not the example. A warning to the teacher should have sufficed. iFish - first and foremost we are glad that you are out of the hospital. The only thing that seems odd is UIC stil had to track you down despite 10 e-mails. I don't want to know any details nor are they any of my business. Perhaps you literally had just gotten well and hadn't got to them yet. Also if a long ordeal the messages could have been buried. Congrats on stepping up and getting the situation resolved. That is a big step towards becoming a class act. Again priority #1 glad to hear that you are well.

Hmmm best advice? Unless you want to be on a first name basis with a cardiologist is to take it back! I've watched cooking shows and the key as several have said is keeping the oil at the proper temp. Too low and the product gets soggy. The biggest temp drop problem is adding too much product too fast. You can cook the total just need to let the oil come back up to temp as you add. Another tip is after cooking anything breaded or even just in general you can get much or the loose pieces out by putting 1 or 2 chunks of peeled potato into the fryer. The stray particles will stick to it. Just pull it out after a short time. This helps clean the oil. I think Canola and Peanut oil are much healthier ( as can be for frying anyway ). Most of my favorite fries from restaurants are done with peanut oil. I've never used it myself so if you do let us know how it tastes.
