  1. I have once again gone back to trilene XT for the majority of my fishing line. I like the new formula. My only problem is that I can no longer find the date it was manufactured like on the old spools. Any ideas where it is located or how to find out when it was manufactured?
  2. Today I bought a Wilderness Ride 135 for fishing on lakes. It is my first kayak. I tested many over the last 8 months and went to multiple demo days and asked lots of questions. I tested every kayak I could get my hands on. This one suits me the best and is the easiest to paddle and stand in for me. Can't wait to get it on the water, today the wind was going 30 mph so decided not to try. Getting up early tomorrow for first run.
  3. How can the new Curado have the SVS system? the photos do not show an adjustment knob on the outside,
  4. One of the main online dealers is selling the Chronarch CI4 + for $202
  5. To those of you who use Quantum reels: What model is your favorite. I am thinking of getting one to try out.
  6. I use the Meat Minnow and the meat beaver with a jig. Floats well and last forever. Catch multiple fish with just one and when done stick it back in package. Biodegradable I try not to use plastic as it is bad for environment.
  7. This is a good debate and I am amazed how well we are staying on topic. I only use mono when night fishing because of the fluorescent properties. They no longer make any fluorescent braids. I use Braid during the day and have not noticed a difference. I like the feel of braid and am comfortable using it in all situations. At night I have trouble seeing my line, and though I feel more with braid, I still line watch for most strikes. I have never had any problems with Mono either though. I do not feel that it stretches too much or anything, I just feel more with the braid.
  8. For the most bang for your buck on soft plastics I suggest Z-man elastice baits. You can generally catch around 50 plus fish on each individual worm. A single bag can last a year. Buy line in bulk when you can afford it and keep it in a dark cool place and it will be cheaper and last long. Buy used rods and reels on forums and flea markets. Braided line with leader will save you money on line.
  9. Just got mine in and love it so far. Only got to throw it a few times to test brake systems out before rain hit.
  10. Thank you for all your information. I will not be buying a boat for a couple months, have some debt to pay off first. Just wanted to know what I should look at for my back. thanks again.
  11. Best techniques for big bass depend on the time of year and water I am fishing. Slow Down is probably the best advice I can give. Relax and enjoy your time on the water, the stress you give yourself transmits through the rod and line. Try something smaller or larger. My largest bass came on a 4 inch zoom centipede My second largest came on a 12 inch worm.
  12. I have a bad back from serving in Iraq. I was wondering what would have a smoother ride in rough water. I was looking at a center console and a deep V boat. the center console I was looking at are based on bass boat hulls but with center console. The Deep V boat is more like the walleye boats you see on great lakes. The lake I live and work on gets very rough around 4ft waves with just 10mph winds.
  13. You can spray it on crankbaits to clean them and clean the hooks. Will prevent rust from forming
  14. Has anyone tried the new Okuma Citrix reels? I like externally adjustable reels.
  15. I have gone from all low profile to incorporating more round reels into my mix. I love the round reels for pitching and for working a jig in deep water. Low profiles are better for reaction baits in my opinion. I hold my rods in front of the reel on the rod where foregrips used to be. If throwing a reaction bait I palm the reel.
  16. Why not try the new Shakespeare ugly stick GX2 that is a mix of graphite and fiberglass. It is getting good reviews and even the paired reel is getting good reviews. The combo is supposed to be sensative and only $50. why upgrade if what you have works?
  17. Is the Primmus Xi hand tuned going to have a lifetime send back for tuning?
  18. Better than your pfluegers you have harped on for sooo many years?
  19. Why is braided line not allowed at dream lake alabama?
  20. It is not as strong as their other lines. But a great line for spinning outfits.
  21. I have a back injury from an IED in 2005. The best thing to do is to stretch and walk. walking on a soft track is best, as it is both soft and usually pretty even. uneven terrain is still problematic, but walking and standing are the best thing to do. Sitting down all the time seems like a relief at the time, but will cause you more pain down the road. movement is the best therapy.
  22. anyone know when the new Primmus reel will be out? looking forward to trying it out.
  23. What is the best balancing rod for this spinning reel? I have either a 25 or 30 sized pflueger President spinning reel. I bought a diawa laguna rod for it when I didn't have any money. But this rod does not balance well at all with reel. Budget is under $300.
  24. What are your thoughts concerning Quantum Spinning reels? I am getting more into Finesse fishing and am looking at upgrading my spinning tackle. Looking for something light weight.
