H2o Jerkbaits vs LC Staysee and Pointers
While I am not totally blown away by h20 baits I do like them. Especially for 3.29 at my local academy. They have a great selection of styles and colors. I picked up some of the shad rap shaped ones the other day. Cant wait to try them. Are there better baits. Sure but if your on a budget the h20's are awesome. The only complaint I have really heard is the paint doesnt hold up. Thats ok with me cause that would give me an excuse to repaint some baits.

Swim jig
I have just started fishing again this summer after a pretty good while off. Anyway I have basically always been a crankbait fishermen. This summer I have started to fish some plastics. I was searching on you tube and seen KVD swimming a jig. I thought it looked like another alternative. So what are some good jigs to swim. When is a good time to use them and under what conditions. So my question is basically tell me all you can about swim jigs. Including rod and line to use.

Berkley Amp Rods...
I store fished one and for the price it looks like a good deal. A local tackle shop thinks very highly of them at the price. The only complaint I have read is that the lock ring on the reel seat can break. I am gonna get a couple especially one of the ultralights. I like ultralight rods.

Understand lake maps?
O.k. I mainly fish Old Hickory lake here in Tennessee. I have not been doing well. So today I picked up a map of the lake. It shows depths and things like that. Now that I have the map it is beginning to clear a few things up. Some of those are why I have caught fish where I caught them. Anyway what all on a map do you look for. I am now understanding where the creek channels are and how that correlates to where I have caught fish. So my question is besides channels and drop offs what are some other things to look for. Any help is appreciated. And yes I do have a depth finder and I have been watching it and learning and now looking at the map confirming what I had been seeing. Thanks

SHIMANO CLARUS ROD
I bought a clarus about a month ago and love it. I use it for jigs and heavy texas rigs. I have to say I cant afford very high end gear and am always looking for value. The shimano line with there lifetime warranty is a good value. The convergence and clarus are my favorite and they fit my budget. If a man can't catch fish with those two rods the rods are not the problem.

Camo Combo!
I think i would figure out a way to hang that combo in the back window on the gun rack.

Old Hickory Lake smallmouth??

Berkley Big Game/P-Line CX Premium
I REALLY like p-line cx premium. It has very nice lb. test to diameter. Now on the other hand even though you did not ask I do not like the cxx p-line. It is way to stiff. And then to throw another curve ball if you have an academy close by go by some of there plain mono in the H20 express brand. I have not fished it yet I put it on a couple of rods. If I like the line its a great value.

Do you consider "live" bait cheating?
Didnt the fellow in japan that caught that huge fish not long ago catch it on live bait.

H20 Mono line
It will be a week or so before I get to fish it. But just from spooling it on I like it so far. I have spooled on cheap line before that I knew I was not going to like before it ever made it to the lake. So I have high hopes. Time will tell I guess.

Abu Garcia round reels
Its not an abu but the mega cast round reel at bass pro has a bait clicker and is a good reel for fishing with live bait.
-
what do you like about bass fishing
I love to be outdoors. As a matter of fact any time possible I will be outdoors. If its just tinkering I am there. But fishing is more than being outdoors for me. I do not tournament fish or even compete in any kind of way. Its just pure stress relief. Even when I don't catch fish its o.k.(which happens way too often) but thats o.k. I just love to be out on the water. Its like for a minute I get to be away from everything. A lot of people will ask me even on days I don't catch any fish if I am glad I went. I am always glad I go. I guess its really more than just "fishing" to me. Anyway thanks for listening.

H20 Mono line
Has anyone tried academy's brand of mono line. I have used the cranks and looked at the rods and reels but just noticed the line last night. Its a pretty good diameter to lb. test rating. Says its abrasion resistant. I bought some 6 lb. test to put on a spinning reel and some 10 lb. for a baitcaster that needed the line changed. Anyway it seemed to come off the spool good with little memory but only time will tell. Just wondering if anyone else had tried it. Its priced REALLY good. Thanks

H2O XPRESS lures anyone have any experience with them???
I bought five more last night but there stock was low. I am gonna go back in a week or so and buy some more. They look like great cranks and it gives me a cheaper way to fill my box with lures. Then maybe later replace them as I find colors and styles I really like.

Sale at academy
Folks while I know its not top notch gear academy has there 10 ball bearing reel and all pro rods spinning and casting on sale for 24.99 each. Just thought I would pass it along. You can see it on there website. That looks like the making of a cheap combo.

**Rod Help**
I went back and searched and come up with a post by roadwarrior that is a very good description of needed rods. roadwarrior wrote on Nov 5th, 2009 at 6:36am: You really only need three rods: 1. Spinning rig: 6 1/2' or 7' Medium Power/ Fast Action; Stradic CI4). For all weightless soft plastics and light lures. SJR783S or SJR843S 2. Baitcasting: 7' Medium Power/ Moderate Action; Revo SX reel. For all treble hooks. CRB843C 3. Baitcasting: 7' Heavy Power/ Fast Action; Shimano CTE200GT. For jigs, weighted soft plastics and just about anything up to an ounce or so. MBR844C And I have to agree that pretty well sums it up. Just pick out your favorite brands but the actions he said are pretty well right or at least in my opinion.

Rod Help?
I am not even close to being as experienced as some of these guys here. But I have got to say that the convergence looks like one of the best values in rods I have seen. Its fairly light, at least compared to bps rods of similar price anyway. Pretty sensitive and at a good price. Anyway I am not saying I will not ever buy another brand but its highly unlikely.

Rod Selection
Pretty easy decisions then. Either shimano clarus or abu vendetta.
-
Rod Selection
If I understood your question you want all the rods for under 100 not 100 each. If thats so you need to look at the berkley amp rods for the money. Probably a medium and a medium heavy.

Rod Help?
Thanks Kickstand, I was kind of torn but when I asked the shop owner about warranty he said anything he sells is covered by an over the counter warranty. If its within the manufacturers warranty time he replaces it completely. I dont have to send it back he will. So that sold me right there.

Rod Help?
Ok. So I went to the tackle store today. I handled several rods. The cheap berkley amp is pretty impressive for $30 and if they would have had one in spinning I would have owned it. Anyway I store fished the vendetta and the clarus. Well I bought the clarus. Not because it was a few dollars cheaper. I dont know that I am really a foam guy I like cork. Anyway the warranty put me over the edge. Both rods look and feel great for the money. The berkley seemed a little stiffer in the medium heavy than the shimano did but thats all personal preference. So the final result is the shimano one. I also bought me Shimano convergence spinning rod while I was there. Anyway thanks for all the help choosing rods.
