  1. they probably painted a bunch of old carrot stix. I'm not buying the deal. It seems to me that if they were something so revolutionary, they'd put a more effort in to the presentation of the website. I personally don't see how anyone can compete with the falcon bucoo in medium priced rods except for the shimano compre.
  2. that's why i put pros in quotations. I was kind of like yeah right.
  3. anybody ever heard of em' guy was just telling me that this was what all the "pros" were moving to. just kinda shrugged it off and said cool. I googled them and their website was rather lackluster.
  4. I was totally unaware that there were any other reels on the market but shimano. nah, I've picked up some great daiwas and the new patriarch is pretty awesome too. I'm waiting to see what the new revo premier wil look and feel like. I guess the jdm version was the aurora. I like to think that I have some pretty good gear, but to me it just doesn't get any better than a curado e7 on a falcon bucoo for the money.
  5. You are a better man than I then. I take that back. no more fatigued than normal. it just doesn't bother me that much
  6. jesus!!! 4.? to 1. I guess it depends on what hand that you want to be tired. I think 6.3:1 is perfect for all depths. dd22's included and Ive fished them for 12 hrs straight with no fatigue.
  7. along with the previous post. the anti reverse pawl might be clicking on the anti reverse ratchet. if so, give the thin ears on the pawl a gentle pinch so it provides enough friction to keep it from falling on the ratchet. a little bit of drag grease on the ratchet won't hurt either
  8. tighten the star drag maybe?
  9. I agree on the compre or falcon. but on the falcon side i'd go with the bucoo. I think it might be the lightest most sensitive rod @ that pricepoint (that I've used). only thing is with the bucoo, if you want a med/heavy action, go with the heavy and so forth. I think their actions are a little lighter than advertised
  10. anybody ever notice that falcon bucoos are a little lighter than advertised. ex. their 7' m/h felt a lot like a med. to me. i bought a 7' heavy and it feels perfect. this doesn't bother me just thought i'd ask
  11. they are worth their weight in gold. I like the bone color and japanese shad. my father said they're no different than a pop r till we fished one morning. outfished him 7:1. evrybody i've ever talked to says the same thing..." I don't know what the deal with them is, they just catch fish plain and simple"
  12. I'll second this in either power pro or samurai. but I always spool half of my spool with 20# mono and finish it off with braid especially with frogs and lily pads. it helps on the braid not cutting deep into the spool and comes out easier
  13. anybody tried these out? are the all glass or glass/graphite composite? good pricepoint IMO
  14. you're right it's not that bad and to be honest i find the 5 to 1 a little slow myself.
  15. cx prem. 14# moss green. I like it so far.
  16. I've poked at the idea of buying a daiwa for a couple of months now so i'm not strictly a shimano man. but they do make a great product for that particular pricepoint. the zillions are buttery smooth and are aesthetically pleasing. maybe i'll have to try one out. any thing that I said regarding curados is purely my own opinion and I hope it was taken that way.
  17. Maybe you should send me the E5 gears to use in my Citica that's on my deep cranking rod . I plan to add a bearing in the drive shaft to make it smoother. Then I was going to decide or not if I should upgrade it to a Curado. Right now I have a Citica 201E on my flipping rod. A Curado 200E on my 7ftMH that I use for anything that requires braid. Then I have a Citica 200E on my 7ft MH cranking rod. On the 6'6 M glass rod I just have a crappy silver max at the moment. I also have a spinning out fit that rounds out what I carry when I fish out of the boat. I'm thinking about putting a new Curado E7 on the 6'6 Medium rod. Plus another one on a new finesse casting rod that I'm looking at having dick build me in a month or two. Right now I'm hoping that the extra bearing in the drive shaft smooths things out in the citica 200e on the deep cranking rod. Otherwise I guess I'd buy a E5. Right now I find after a long session of deep cranking with the Citica is causing me to wear out some. Where when I've put on a deep crankbait on the rod with braid that has the E7. I end up having no fatigue at all. It got me thinking if the E7 is this smooth and strong why mess with the E5? the other thing that I think that helped was the rod the Curado uses is a much stiffer rod then my crankbait rod. So the crankbait rod put alot more stress on the reel I believe. I might have to put the E7 on my deep crankbait rod to test out how it fills to determine if a E5 might be necessary or not. I'm REALLY hoping the extra bearing helps the Citica in it's deep cranking. how do you like the citica. in terms of smoothness, how does the citica compare to the curad? i'm interested in buying one
  18. any feedback on the low-vis green p-line. I got some of the 15# for one of my new curados. seems pretty strong and really thin.
  19. it's not so much smoother than the e7 it's just easier to turn. lower geared. I got another e5 that I'm putting citica gears in to give it a broader 6.3:1 ration. I'll use this reel kind of like you said, for traps shallow to medium cranks and spinner baits. I'll keep the 5:1 e5 strictly for dd22's
  20. the curado is an effortless caster. wind or not light lure or heavy. yes there is a minuscule amt of back play when free spooling. but i've not noticed any when cranking. this reel is a d**n tank. all of this info is coming from someone who's only fished calcutta gtb's and TE's. this is my intro fo lowprofiles and i'll have to say that i have half a mind to sell every calcutta I own and replace with curados... yes...they're that good. you will not be disappointed. they are a little geary feeling @ first. but break in soon. I heard it's because they use a harder alloy for the gears. and whoever said it is right. HEG gears only come on the 100 in the calais. you'll love the large paddles on the curado for cranking
  21. I think that they're both pretty sweet reels. however i have no experience with either of them. I'd love to have either one. but tell me this, what would either of them do that a curado e5 wouldn't do for less than half the price. don't get me wrong like i said i'd love to have either one but they don't fit within my budget
  22. it's about time someone else mentions this. Ill challenge anyone with this lure. I cant believe this lure hasn't been mentioned more. it was hard for me to drop 15 bucks but after the first morning...i have no more problems spending that kind of money for "that" bait
  23. my top 2 would be zoom horney toads and yellow magic poppers(japanese shad). 65lb. samurai braid on the frogs with a 7' heavy rod and a calcutta 200gtb. I fish frogs in lillypads here so i want a rod strong enough to pull em out of them pads. plus I feel safe yanking on em with that calcutta. super rigid frame. lost a 10+ lber this summer on 20# big game in the middle of the pads. that was and is the last time this reel sees mono.
