  1. I think the rule of thumb is every 100 hrs or once a year which ever comes first kinda deal. But check your manual about “break in” if that motor is brand new on when you change it. I personally change engine oil every year and change lower unit oil and spark plugs and fuel filter. I also change the water pump and thermostat every year. It stays on the water so every year I pull it out and go thru it all. I totally know it’s over kill, but it’s a small out board and not too expensive, plus it gives me peace of mind.
  2. Green pumpkin and bubblegum
  3. Maybe a kayak or canoe, I’ve seen people make wheels that you can kind of dolly it to the water
  4. I was thinking about trying one for pitching and flipping around docks and under low hanging brush, But don’t tell no one. hahah
  5. I have a 70lb thrust on my pontoon, maybe 2 mph, I have a motor on the back though.. it’s the wind that will get you. A few mph head wind and your stalled. Pontoon boat catches a lot of wind.. I’ve gotten blown around and it’s nice you just go and start the engine to motor out of a grounding situation. I even leave the motor partially in the water sometimes to keep for getting pivoted around.
  6. I can’t even imagine how much fuel it must use..... but I guess if I could of afford motors like that, I wouldn’t have to worry about it..
  7. Used to clip it to my belt loop or put it around my wrist, but I just pick up and inflatable life vest, it has a D-ring for it. I fish by myself most of the time..
  8. I Texas rigged them a lot when I lived in Nc, fishing for small mouth.
  9. Okeechobee.... haven’t had a lot luck it’s jigs here in Fl. when I was in NC smallie fishing is was green pumpkin/green pumpkin craw.
  10. Haha yep owning a pontoon is like owning a truck.... can ya help me move. Pontoon, lots of room for people.... wait until she finds out it’s rated for 12 people. I used to be a low level motor head, nothing pro- just street racing then 4x4’s at the local pits. I don’t know that much about 4-stroke outboards, it’s a “learned I go” kinda thing.
  11. Yep mine is fast enough too me. One goes by here once in a while with two older guys in it( I’m no spring chicken 56), with a huge motor, 2-stroke. it is haulin. Not much of the pontoons In the water at all. I bet it is pretty squirrelly. Yep my rpm is rated for 5600-6000 rpm at wot, I’m hitting 56-5700 at wot.. it’s the low end of my wot.
  12. Not too long ago, I stopped at a yard sale.... got spinning reels $5.00 ea., shimano syncopate & pflueger president. Never had line on them, said “they were a present but he didn’t fish”. He also said “had the rods that came with them, but shut the garage door on them yesterday” I thought to myself.... I understand shutting the door on the rods and breaking them, but don’t fish.........
  13. Got a big foot merc 50 on mine. Full tank, just my wife and I, it’ll do 19 mph with a following wind. But it seems the run forever on a tank of fuel. I could play with pitch on the prop and get few more mph faster,I’m in the bottom end of the scale on rpms. But I’m happy with it
  14. Wind, 3/8 or less spinning, or flipping or pitching... I just can’t get the hang of it, I spend more time fixing over-runs. Everything else bait caster.
  15. I’ve been looking at those line of reels...... I’ve always been very satisfied with Bass Pro , I know they are made by other vendors but who ever they are I’ve got some really good reels from them. I’m not real loyal to any brand I just picked up 2 pflueger spinning reels at a yard sale and really like them too.
  16. Drop shot and Ned rig, got nothing against them just don’t use them.
  17. Good job, send pics of ya on the water with it. I heard Spider-Man was good luck.
  18. Very nice, it is the same layout as mine. I love the seats up front. How big is it.
  19. Isn’t great to do that on the first trip of the year, Bet you can’t wait until the next one.

I’ve fished senkos Texas rigged and used a bullet weight used to get a little more casting distance or help it sink. Sometimes when I cast into the Lilly pad or grass trying to hit the one open spot, weightless doesn’t want to pull the line across the Lilly pads and sink. I try to use the lightest sinker possible. I like the perfect worm hook sold by pass pro, no pegging. I guess you could use it wacky rigged to with a weighted hook.
  21. I hate that feeling you get in you stomach when you lose a nice one.
