favorite pitching and/or flipping bait?
Reaction Innovations sweet beaver in several different colors, depends on the clarity. If that's not working, I'll switch to a jig with a paca trailer, again, colors depend.

Favorite plastics company!

Spro BBZ
I bought this lure and fished it this past year with no success. Didn't even see a fish follow it. It looks great but I am not longer confident that it will ever produce. I have heard several people with the same complaint.

Oval swivels verses standard round ones.
Is there an advantage to the oval swivels over the standard round ones? I always change the oval ones out because when I tie onto an oval I feel that the knot is too close to the "starting point" of the swivel, no matter what end of the oval you use. I am afraid that the knot might slide onto that point causing the knot to fray and weeken. Am I altering the action of the lure by changing the oval swivel out? Can someone please advise? Thanks.

Do you consider "live" bait cheating?
If you are fishing a tourney then yes, it is cheating.

what is a mojo rig?
Can someone tell me what a mojo rig is, or better you post a photo of the rig. Is the mojo rig something new or used in a different part of the country than I am in? Thanks.

Some thoughts on hook removal
I use a specality pair of 90 degree angled pliers. They work great however they are around $36 a pop. Worth it though to know my kids can get a shot at catching good healthy fish and I am not depleteing the population of bass.

Starting a new bass club, members needed. New Jersey
I live in New Jersey (Cherry Hill area of South Jersey, 3 miles from Philadelphia Pa) and I am starting a bass club for new and seasoned anglers. Let me tell you about myself and what my goals are. I'm 32, employed full time (mon - fri) married with 2 kids. I love bass fishing and actually get to fish quite often, at lease 2 times a week. I know there are plenty of people out there with the same kinds of stuff going on their lives as I do and would like to join a bass club to learn from and fish with but think they can't or won't have the time to put into it. Here's your oppertunity. I am currently a member of a bass club, active member of B.A.S.S, and the Bass Federation Nation, which to some may not mean much. My point is that I know how things operate. The problem with the club I am currenty in is that the only tournaments I can fish in are our club tourneys (club members only), which is fine, however they are far and few between. I can't afford to travel and stay at the places that the Fed. Nation circuit takes you on. The rest of my club can b/c they have either retired early, are single with no kids, have jobs that pay 6 figure salaries, or own their own businesses. That's not me. My goal is to put together a club of anglers consisting of boaters and non-boaters, (preferably an equal # of both). This club would be molded around the "weekend angler" for convienience. EVERYONE IN THE CLUB WILL BE ABLE TO VOICE THEIR OPINIONS AND OFFER SUGGESTIONS. THIS CLUB WILL NOT HAVE JUST ONE PERSON WHO DECIDES EVERYTHING, (some clubs out there will dictate how everything goes, usually because it is more convienient for its president) However order and orginization will be maintained. We would conduct the club meetings, have club tourneys, keep a point system, and ect. At least 8 to 10 club tourneys would be fished per year unless we agreed on more or less. Clubs tourneys would be fished on Sundays because kids sports and stuff are usually not scheduled for Sundays. This is also flexable. We would decide where and how far we would travel. Entry fees to club tourneys would be agreed upon based on our individual finances so 1st place and lunker of the day get a bonus and it stays competitive. Points would be accumulated for the season so we could determine who angler of the year would be. I could go on but I think you get the point. Please PM me if you are interested and live in the area. Thanks. Keep in mind that you could still fish with the ABA, FLW, BFL, or Fed. Nation circuits if you wish. There are ways to have your bass clubs and its members recognized in these organizations with some paperwork if you wanted to use this club as a platform for fishing larger money tourneys and a chance to qualify at invitation only events.

Your biggest fish.
great stories so far, keep em coming, i love reading them. it gives me hope of topping my pb.

Your biggest fish.
What lure, whether it was artifical or live bait, have you caught your largest fish on. Give a good description of what you used if it was an artifical. We are all from different places on the map so a little detail would not give away your "secret lure or color". How wuch did it weigh. Mine was a 4lb 14oz largemouth caught on a 3/8 oz. Chatterbait with a black and blue skirt with a black 4" Mr. Twister split double tail grub trailer.

I'm done! Can't take it any longer!
Hopefully this makes u feel better, its a true story.......the largest bass I caught this year was only 3 lbs. 2oz. And I put a lot of time in from march to october. The up side is my total # of fish is much, much higher than last year. There is a big fish out there somewhere, hope you find it. Good luck.

If you were to track your bass fishing what is relevant?
I agree 100 % with cart7t. I kept a log and would study it before fishing that patricular lake. I ended up trying to recreate a day from the past. That's no good. Fish the present day and conditions. You will never see two indentical days with indentical conditions, just won't happen. Things will be similar but never the same. I still keep a log but it is limited to the name of the lake, date, what I was using, and the weight of the fish. Keeping an extreamly detailed log can be overwhelming, at least it was for me. With my log I like to look back and see my pb for the season, which month was the best, what the average bass weight was, what lure produced the best, and what patterns I put together and did I realize it at the time. I keep it simple, its the easiest was to learn. As you learn more and understand what you learned from simple info, add a little more info to the mix. Just my opinion.

Favorite Spinner Bait Brand
strike king, hands down.

Spro BBZ-1 Shad or Tru Tungsten Trulife 4" swimbait
I have never tried the TT and also do not know anyone that has been sucessful with it either. As for the Spro, I have one and admit it has a great action however I have never caught anything with it after numerous attempts. Personally I would save the 20+ $ and get something you know won't let you down.

Berkly PowerWorms
These worms are very versitile lures. I always start out fishing them like a senko, then pick up the tempo if nothing hits. I even fish these on light tackle with a steady retrieve. Rig it so the tail of the worm is pointing downward when it is retrieved and it looks like a hurt baitfish with the action that the tail gives it. I always use some kind of weight no matter how I am fishing them.
