Cutting line
I don't know if you'd want to hang these around you neck, but Gerber makes an awesome 2.5" pair of scissors made for cutting line. I love them to death. They sale for $2 a pair at Academy. I always use scissors, its a great choice IMO.

Shelf life of soft plastics
Should not be a problem. Plus at $2 a piece buy 1 pack and check them out. If all is good go back and buy more. Or you can send them to me and I'll try them out for you. LOL

chemical reation in plastics
I never mix any plastics even if they are made by the same manufacture b/c the colors usually run weather they are kept in a hot or cool area. Never seen them melt though.

What are your fishing Strengths?
Knowing that I don't know everything about fishing and the willingness to study any and all resources available to become a more efficent angler. Willingness to learn new techniques that will work once properly executed. Honestly I think I am an average angler. I fish a bunch of techniques ok, wouldn't say any are my strong points, but do have baits i'd rather fish. I keep a fishing log and every year when I review it in the winter I have caught more fish than the prior year so I must be learning something.

calais in saltwater?
If you want to fish salt water, buy a Penn reel. I don't fish salt very often but I have 2 Penn reels that are really built for sw. I would never use my fresh water gear for salt. It's not a good idea.

can someone direct me to a how to on oiling a reel after use?
Well said, I once took a reel apart to clean and oil it. For some reason when I reassembled it I had some extra parts. Reel seemed to worm right after that. Ha, wonder why. Learn from my mistakes and do what I did. Find a local shop with a good rep. And get you reels serviced every winter. You will give you reels an extended life as well as trouble free casts.

Reel Size??
Which ever size you choose, make sure before you buy it to check to make sure it will provide u w/ the amount and size of line u want to put on it. The larger models must likely will hold thicker diameter and longer legnths of line compared to the smaller models.

World records live VS. artificial????
I agree 100%!

Lucky Craft
I don't think it is the actual look that makes them expensive, I think it is the action and vibration that LC has in its corner that makes their product so effective, making it costly. I am a fan of LC and own a bunch.

Has anyone read the.......
Well I can agree with some of your post but different customs. Kurita has been in the US before and I highly doubt that chumming is a tradition, and is not legal in any tournament, that's why livewells are checked prior to the days launch. I don't think he should not have the world record bass, he should have it in its own catogory being "live bait". As for the guy who foul hooked dottie, I tip my hat to the man, he has much class not to lie and say he caught her. That is a true sportsman.

Has anyone read the.......
A ha!!!!!! You brought up one of the biggest arguments. Should there be different records for live bait VS. artificial. I say YES!!!!! I agree that there should be 2 catogories for bass only. The reason I say bass only is because before 2009, the record from 1932 was never beaten. I am not talkin about fish that were foul hooked or any BS like that. I saying actually legally caught by IGFA rules. What other record fish has had a 77 year reign. Is there one b/c I don't know.

which reel?
Instead od buying 1, buy 2 abu garcia revo-s reels and still save 20 bucks. Check them out, I have 5 of them and love them.
