  1. Good point about the genitics, however the fish in that lake were imported from Florida many, many years ago by Gary Yamomoto and one of his sponsers at the time. I wonder if they can still have modified the florida strain of bass that they had, enough to make them that large? Now that I know that Perry caught the world record on a lure, I don't think it is fair that this guy caught his on a live bluegill.
  2. I can see it from your point of view, I don't agree with it but it get it. Let me ask you another question. Since the Japanese guy caught his fish on live bait, and George Perry caught his on a lure, do you think there be 2 catagory, 1 for lures and 1 for live? LOL.
  3. I agree with Wayne P, but I would say I prefer a chatterbait over a spinnerbait. I think you can do more with the overall presentation of a chatterbait espeically when useing a trailer. You can go from using it like a crankbait to using it like a jig, then buzz it like a topwater. A very versital lure. I have even put a plastic swimbait on a chatterbait to change the appearance.
  4. I think it is a big deal b/c it gives me and others a goal. I will be lucky to see a 10 pounder in New Jersey, as the state record is 10 lbs 13oz I belive. If the only fish I ever caught was the world record that would not be enough, your right about that, but if it was, I would be looking for the next fish to beat the last weight I caught. Do you have a PB or do you just catch the fish, look at it and say, "maybe 6 pounds but who cares, man I wish I would catch some smaller fish b/c the big ones tear my baits all up." To conclude: if you have not interest in the post, why respond? Have a great day, good year, and keep you lines tight. Best of luck in your persuit of the big on, or the little one, which ever you prefer.
  5. Bass Master January edition? Specifically the artical about Manabu Kurita? For those of you who have, I have some questions about what you belive, and from those of u who have not read it, read it. Here's my comments and questions: 1) This guy estimates there are bass in Lake Biwa, Japan that may top 30 pounds. I know this is possible, but 30 pounds! Sounds more like a sales pitch to get their tourisum a boost. Any biologists out there that could estimate an age and legnth of a 30 pounder? 2) Do you agree with the IGFA's more than 2 ounce rule for world records. I do not agree. 22lbs -4 oz. Is less than 22lb -5oz. No matter what way you dice it, there will always be one that weight more. 3) What do you think about him training the fish to relate reving his outboard and slapping the water with his hand, to feeding them live ayu in 1 specific area. IMO spending 10 grand in 1 month to train fish to gorge themselves when they hear a series of the same commotion in the same area at the same time of day, to later fish that spot for maybe another world record (maybe not now but later in the future when they are fatter) is not ingenius, its cheating, in every sense of the word. They only thing it proves is that bass and probable other fish can be trained. ok, I am done. Thanks in advance for the replies, I can't wait to read them.
  6. That is an awesome pic. Makes you wonder how fast he could still travel, amoung other things.
  7. I am not familiar with 2 of those types. Are they lures or live bait fish? I know the Fin-s is a lure.
  8. Spending too much time in 1 area with the same lure tied on while most likely overlooking a more productive area. Fishing too fast. Reading electronics. Now a days every one has electronics in the front and the rear. As a back boat fisherman in tournaments I am able to see the electronics by the steering wheel, I just can't tell you anything but the depth and temp. Cold weather fishing. I fish from the shore most of the time and think they should be deep, but will they be deep, and where does shallow end and deep begin, and what is considered deep for this lake, stuff like that.
  9. what lure or bait George Perry was fishing with in 1932 when he caught the 22lb 4oz world record largemouth?
  10. Rapala.
  11. Happy New Year to all @ BR. Hope 2010 brings you great fishing.
  12. An inline spinner that I got at sports authority when I bought my son and I our first rods. Before that day I had never fished a day in my life.
  13. I agree, this year better be better than last year or it will take a lot for me to make the hike and pay for a hotel in 2011. Basser89, I sent you a PM w/ my e-mail address to my cell if you want to meet up.
  14. I have all sizes of the paca's and also use the smallie and sweet beavers from reaction innovations.
  15. I think that custom paint jobs is pointless, but I also belive that color is not as important as action, but that's just me.
  16. I have never cracked at bait, but it is a good alturnative to buying a new one.
  17. helix ninja buzz bait, all black, abu garcia revo-s, 20# berkley crystal braid, st. croix mojo bass series topwater rod.
  18. Great answer Rooster, I learned a bit from it, thanks.
  19. 1/2 oz jig with a paca trailer worked sloooow. Color depends on water clarity.
  20. My club will be doing one as we do every year. One of our members works for the NJ Dpt. of Fish and Wildlife and he ends up doing several lakes.
  21. Is anyone going to the fishing expo in Timonium Maryland @ the Fairgrounds that runs from Jan. 14th to the 17th 2010. I go there every year and it is a pretty good show, well I enjoy it anyway.
  22. Fish earlier in the morning, fish more often, and break the 5 pound mark. Tried to break 5lbs last year but could not. My PB is 4-14.
