  1. CT, Very few people have ever posted bad Loomis cust. service experiences... what specifically happened to you?
  2. Matt, Surely you are pulling my leg... We've all had accidents, but we still drive, we've all been hurt playing sports but we still do it... we just try our best to minimize the negative things. I can't control what happens before I hook the fish and I can scarcely control what a fish does between the hookset and the boat... so does that mean I should say heck with it and just not try or not care at all? Of course not. We do know for a fact that letting them flop around on carpet and rubbing off the slime is bad for them, so why wouldn't I try to avoid that???? Have you ever caught a big fish and when you started to release her, she went on her side? Didn't you take time to see if you could get her revived and going again instead of just dumping her back in the water and moving on? Using your logic, we should just use stringers through the gills instead of treated livewells... and drag them around all day. I mean heck, they already got beat up a little, why treat them good now? It just doesn't make sense to not take care of the things you can control.
  3. I was also hoping for something better... It's kind of like a silver curado. :-/
  4. 1 or 2 depends on what your current gear situation is and what you want the new rod(s) to do.
  5. buy a new one and scrap the part or just put your reel in the box for return. ;D just kidding, of course
  6. Does that mean the sonic and sufix aren't actually round?
  7. I'm going to give braid another shot. I keep hearing about the new fireline "radial" braid. Compared to other braids, what is new or better about it? The 3 lines I'm looking at are the stren sonic braid, the new fireline and sufix braid. All 3 claim to be round, all 3 seem to be well liked. Anyone know of any appreciable differences in them? If it matters, I think I'm going to switch 1 BC and 1 spinning reel to braid. (so if any of the lines listed were better or worse on either type, I'd like to know what or why) I'm listening with an open mind...
  8. Darn, I never saw that one. Not that it matters but it would be like the fur lined hoodie! ;D
  9. Thanks for the info, I appreciate it.
  10. I don't need another spinning reel but I think I'll be picking one up! And probably building a rod especially for it!
  11. Yup, I'm amazed that I ever caught a fish using Trilene XT. In fact, I must be a freak of nature since I can feel a bite on a worm without braid. ;D
  12. Who here works for free? I don't. Who here wants to work until the day he dies and leave nothing to his family? I don't. Who here wants to end up in a gov't provided nursing home if they can't work? I sure don't. I doubt any of you do either- so all of you "it's all about the money" sayers should take a long look in the mirror. ________________________________________________________ I forget that not everyone fly fishes as well... TFO is a very recognized name in that world. But to the average non fly fishing angler, they are probably little known. The fact that they have gone from nothing to an industry competitor so quickly, shows me that they are willing to invest in both product and people. I'll actually be excited to see what they come up with and what price points they serve. Maybe he'll come up with an IMX equivalent at 1/2 the cost? Who knows! They are sort of the "All Star" of fly fishing... great value on very good, but not top end rods. Although many do consider their rods to be on par with the elites.
  13. Absolutely great move for TFO and I suspect an equally as rewarding deal for Loomis. I wish them both great success!
  14. Hmm... thanks for the warning, but do you mean it falls off steeply above water (as in hanging the front of the trailer) or the ramp drops out once under water? (hanging up on the springs/shackles) Once off the trailer, could you get around very well? Thanks
  15. Wonder why? I just looked at an aerial view of the lake... looks like a matt punching, frog throwing, veggie fest! ...lol Can you get a bass boat around in it, ok? It would be a hike for me, but for a once in a blue moon place to go fish the "junk" I might enjoy it.
  16. "you break my record, now I break you"
  17. For what you listed, I'd consider the Revo Winch. I certainly wouldn't want a high speed reel for swimbaits. (I actually use a winch for a lot of swimbaits)
  18. Interesting post... It appears to me that you've made several assumptions... It just might be a "stand up move" but you've jumped to these conclusions before any evidence is out. It could simply be that his contract renewal date coincides with ICAST. I'm sure by the very nature of this business- many contracts originate about this time each year.
  19. The core is very nice, but with the new model coming out, I'd pass on the original... the new one is rumored to be lighter and has a higher bearing count... to me that seems like they are shooting to make it buttery smooth, perhaps to compete directly with the steez. ? And I think the price will be about the same as the old one so there would be no reason to get an old one unless they discount them to make room for the new models. IMO, the Revo Premier isn't what you want on that 722... the Premier isn't going to be as cooperative with the light baits as a steez, core or pixy.
  20. What... he didn't use rack rods?????? shocking. :
  21. drink it slowly and it's not ice cold when you get to the end... so maybe you are right, not possible. ...lol
  22. If I were to get a new core, it would be an additional reel, not a replacement. Sorry. ...lol But if the above mentioned info is true, I won't be buying a new core... unless of course the Yumeya spool fits it... and then, if it's a 50, the spools probably won't interchange.
  23. Great fish! What a small world... I was born in Danbury, CT.
  24. Thanks for the info! The only bad part is that it sounds very much like the existing core, minus like a 1/2 oz and plus about 3 bearings. :-/ I hope they realize that not all of us use braid or light line. I'm still holding out hope for something light, with some line capacity.
  25. Got any specs or details?
