  1. I don't know either, that was a knee jerk reaction... and I hate to come across so cynical sounding but it's pretty unheard of to knock that much time off of your personal best time.

Great point, I didn't know that since I've never been to the hall. What a double standard. IMO, if he's banned, all of his stuff should be absent of the hall, period. My problem is with the seemingly so called lifetime suspension, not necessarily the HOF. Right, wrong or indifferent, if he gets reinstated and becomes eligible for the HOF, then that's ok with me. I also agree with this... did pete rose know that his gambling could get him a lifetime suspension? (I'm honestly asking if this was a known rule at the time) If so, he made his choice, just like someone who knowingly commits a crime chooses to accept the risk of a prison term. Was looking around just now and came across http://www.answers.com/topic/pete-rose I guess since he singed off on it, he chose the deal. No reason for me to argue for or against his own wishes.
  3. I would bet it's way more than the suit... probably the suit and a few injections and possibly a few pills to boot. That's an enormous time difference... I think you could wear the big floppy swim suits we wear at the neighborhood pool and not lose half that. At the olympics, they were talking about fractions of seconds being saved by suits, not half the length of the pool. Hate to be a pessimist, but I'd be looking for the next hard to detect steriod, not a new suit. Besides, the new suit isn't "that" much smoother or slicker than what they already have.
  4. Very unlikely. I pray that I never have to defend my home or life with deadly force, however, I wouldn't hesitate to shoot an intruder, even if I "saw" no weapon. A weapon is not even a consideration in this instance, except that the media decided to report it. It only takes a second to produce a weapon or get knocked down or out. Then me, my wife and infant would be at the mercy of an acting felon. What faith do you have in someone who already broke in to your home- knowing you were home, to act responsibly towards your family???? Any faith in that would be severely misguided, and potentially fatal. No thanks. Around here, the media reports it as a homeowner shot and killed an intruder. No mention of weapons or no weapons because it doesn't matter. I know it would break my heart to take a life, but knowing that the life I took probably saved my own and those of my wife and baby would allow me to get past it. IMO, when someone breaks into a home, they have already accepted that someone might be home and they might be killed. If anything, these days it's less and less likely that the intruder doesn't intend harm or worse on anyone he encounters.
  5. The GLX material isn't brittle, nor is IMX or SCV. It's a thinner walled design- BIG difference. If it was brittle, every yahoo out there would break them on a daily basis... as very few guys actually follow the "rules" of rod handling. Nicks, impact, high sticking and swinging good fish will break cheap and expensive rods alike. The cheap stuff generally takes a little more abuse, but it's usually a function of a thicker walled design.
  6. Catt, please elaborate on this one for me. :-? What's to elaborate? I've seen it & want to fish it Just wanted to make sure you didn't have any super duper inside info... I used to drive past it every weekend to and from the deer lease and drooled every time, then met/fished with some guys that live out there and realized it's not what my mind had made it out to be. (I thought of fork each time i drove by) Good lake? yes... but not the hog pen I imagined.
  7. Well, I just missed you, I was on Stillhouse on 7/22... as the storms were building above us and the 30MPH winds kicked up. ;D Needless to say we didn't stay long. ...lol
  8. 16 oz = 454 grams Therefore, (158 gr/454 gr)*16 oz = 5.568 [ch8776] 5.6 oz. Hmm... Shimano didn't round up and truncated the computation in the hundredth spot. ;D Multi-Variable Caculus class next. ;D Or they weighed one dry, as all manufacturers probably do, to save what weight isn't part of the actual product. Same reason they don't weigh it with line in it... and you don't use it without line. : Logic, I got an A. ;D

I despise the dopers and cheaters of today... they broke the rules and in many cases the law, just because rose broke different rules, doesn't change that he did the same thing as the modern day cheaters... he broke the rules and broke the law. (gambling was illegal then and there, yes?) So he's no different than bonds or aroid, etc.. (lower case intentional) Drugs, gambling, cheating... whatever. Is a corked bat, intentional hit into a double play, point shaving, hitting a batter to get him on base or any other breach of the rules really any different than steroids? Nope, they all are against the rules and are all cheating. If you ever have any questions, just ask your wives if there are acceptable forms of cheating... ;D edited to add: I always like pete rose and used to wish he'd get in the HOF since so many other cheaters will be there but as I've gotten older and gained some perspective, I realize I was off base (so to speak) for a long time. Adding him doesn't correct the wrongs of other being there.
  10. Maybe that's because he's been hopped up. :-/
  11. I'm guessing it's because this reel was designed to be fished, not stored. ;D
  12. Catt, please elaborate on this one for me. :-?
  13. Just out of curiosity, why did the woman's blog cause the parents extreme embarrassment? I kept up with it over the past couple of days and I honestly thought she was just trying to raise awareness about the situation and help reunite the kid with his family. Kind of what I thought... I guess the family is embarrassed that he ran away. Probably time for them to worry more about the issues inside the family than the perception of those outside the family.
  14. That's the best route. Or see if you can buy a rod with a longer grip on it, some of the other models/makes have different grip configurations. comfort, balance, leverage or casting control/distance.
  15. My thoughts exactly!
  16. Steezy, Can you pop out the spools and see if they interchange? It's been reported that they are the same but I can't get confirmation. Thanks!
  17. Actually the process in most instances, has not changed. That's partly the reason people joke about the IMX being 20+ year old technology as still the industry standard for excellence, and often ask why we don't have better and cheaper options in this day and age. Material costs, according to industry insiders has gone up considerably over the past several years as there are several military applications that increased demand. Labor and operating costs have obviously risen with time as well. I venture to guess that the profit margins have dropped significantly over the initial years of these rods. Volume has increased so much that the profits are probably much higher, but on a lower margin. Yes, I've made some assumptions too.
  18. Same here... but in the spirit of full disclosure, I bought it new and didn't write a check for the whole thing. ...lol When I had payments, they were $215/ mo. These days the only payment I'd consider is a mortgage.
  19. Actually, it will spoil... shortly after the next ice age!
  20. Just wonder where you saw that? They list the line capacities as slightly different. Are you thinking they just said it's a little less to make the "smaller" reel different?
  21. Shallow fish can't outrun an arrow. ;D In all seriousness, I don't think they were c-rigging in 30' off main lake points... and I know for a fact they weren't burning traps over grass beds in spring. What I do and what I would do if I was fishing for my only meal are not only very different but are also a different species of fish.
  22. Big-O, you guys are on some salty fish!

Congrats, buddy!! Takes a while, especially if you are into, fishing, golf, shooting, anything with hand tools, etc. And if you are LEFT handed, it's WAY worse!! I have to take it off to fish, golf, shooting range and several other things. But the indention and discoloration of where it sits are so bad, it looks like a ring is still on, when it's not. ;D
  24. been using E7's since January... they are well worth the cost of admission. I think they are one of the better reels in the $150-$160 range. (which is easy to find)
