Skeet Reese leaves Lamiglas for what brand?
You ought to man up and try a sissy stick sometime... it's not all stocker trout and bluegill.

Marshal thrown from boat....Biffle and Jones penalized
Kind of what I was thinking. Christian or not, he's a good guy and I doubt he'd go by unless the situation was well under control. With so many witnesses, I find it curious that we have so few facts.

Can't wait for E15
I saw a news report last year when this was so big... that 10% E-10 gas caused an average drop of 12% in fuel economy. So in the infinite wisdom of the government, we actually use more fuel than if we didn't use the ethanol mixed gasoline. :-/

Hurricane season is upon us
I heard the other day that this is the start of another el nino year... IIRC they are on a 4 or 5 year cycle. Should up the count if it's true. I'm hoping for low storm count for you guys on the coast, but lots of low pressure systems to bring us some relief from the drought.

Owner vs Gamakatsu
And this thread is really splitting hairs. Deciding between the 2 best or 2 of the 3 best hooks out there... both are far superior to the vast majority of hooks available today that the choice is really more of a hook style preference.
-
Owner vs Gamakatsu
I also prefer Owner. Gamakatsu are great hooks, no doubt, but I think Owner hooks are just better.

Going with a guide
Agreed.... and I would check this guy out a little before booking a trip.

Chlorine and Line/reel/lure
If your pool water is properly kept- don't worry about it. With free chlorine at 2-3 ppm and a ph in the low to mid 7's , your tap water rinse is potentially more "damaging" than your pool water. I made the mistake of checking our tap water after having a time with the pool.... I no longer drink our tap water, as my pool is a much more balanced water than what comes from our taps!

Wacky-O-Rings
X2 They actually do work really well, I've gone from 1-2 fish per senko to 5-6 and sometimes more. Same here. I got this one with 200 o-rings for $11 http://cgi.ebay.com/Bass-Fish-Wacky-Rig-O-Ring-Tool-Senko-Bait-Worm-O-Rings_W0QQitemZ390036976542QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5ad003f39e&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1205|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50

Windy Night fishing
I lived in East Texas (Lindale) for 4 years... just wait, you'll have lots of dead still days and sweltering heat over the summer. Ususally by June it calms down, were just running a little late this season. Next month, you'll be praying for a little breeze to keep you cool. ...lol

3:16 Baby Wake
I would say that dates you but I know you are younger than that... is rad, and all the variants coming back again? ;D

Dallas, Texas
I spent about 20 years in Dallas... lots to do, depending on what you like. (and what you budget looks like!!) Lots of night life, some culture and arts, probably anything you'd want. What are you looking for? http://listings.guidelive.com/ to find restaurants, clubs, live music, etc. I'm not much of a go out and party type so I can't be too specific. http://www.ondaweb.com/deep_ellum/dea_nite.html Deep Ellum is popular for clubs, bars and live music, but it can be a rough area. Lower Greenville Ave is a tamer version of what you'll find in Deep Ellum... but still lots of nightlife and some live music as well. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g55711-c1113/Dallas:Texas:Greenville.Avenue.html http://www.citysearch.com/list/88761

Crank Bait Reel Now =)
as it should... it costs about as much as the both of them, combined.

Technique Specific Rods
Rods listed as technique specific are, as stated, what someone or some group deem appropriate. That doesn't make them a gimmick, just makes it easier for someone less experienced to find a rod the generally works well in a certain application. What you will end up liking for any given technique may not fall into the same category. I use particular rods for specific techniques, but only 1 of my swimbait rod was designed for that technique. You will also have a much better selection if you say, for example- "I need a 7' mh, fast for my worm rod..." instead of a labeled worm rod. Funny you listed those things, though... 3 of the 4 are about the only things that are typically different. Cranking- most like a mod or mod-fast action, power to suit your water and baits. Flippin'- for true flippin' a long, heavy and slower rod (usually 7'6" hvy, mod-fast) Swimbaits- based on which baits you throw.... since they are so heavy. Worms- assume you mean t-rig? Lots of preference here... 6'6"-7'6" med to heavy, fast to x-fast. (a 6'6" or 7' MH, fast is the most common)

couple of ? about rod building
if you don't use CP, it will all change (except metallic threads) but not always darker. I always make a set of test wraps in between guides and wet them. Spit will give you about a 90% accurate look at what finish will do. Just be sure to saturate the test wrap and wait a minute for it to really soak in. As for removal of old finish, be sure to only use a razor on top of the old guide foot so you don't damage the blank. A hairdryer is better than a flame until you get a feel for it... you just want the old finish warm, not hot. Lots of new people have ruined rods with lighters.
-
Flipping stick...?
A flippin' stick is usually 7'6" or longer, usually heavy power and usually a mod-fast action. Since flippin' is a close range technique where you catch and move fish out of heavy cover, there are significant advantages to long, heavy and mod-fast in the rod.

Not happy with Johnny Morris!
um, i think that what these forums are for? i'd rather hear about one specific issue with a reel than twenty "i love my curado!!" or "quantums rock!!!" or "revos are the best!!" or "daiwas are da bomb!!!" In the entire history of BassResource.com, there haven't been 20 "quantums rock!!!" threads.... ;D ;D ;D ;D

Most accurate scale?
The Boga is ok, I have one... the problem is that they have a small area to read where the weight incriments are printed... which allows a lot of variance from one person to the next. The salter is a better scale, IMO, and will certify easily.

Bassresource Ragetail Marketing Machine?
What if the Banjo Minnow became an advertiser/sponsor for this board? Now that would be quite the matter/anti-matter paradox.... ;D Certain would be sponsors (on the no topic list) have been turned away by Glenn already. The search function was talked about more than senkos for a while... but for some reason most people don't use it.

G. Loomis Help - Broken Rod
You have 2 options... 1. Xpediter- I highly recommend this one. You'll have your new rod in 2-3 days and you use that tube to ship back the broken one, with an enclose, prepaid label. Cost- $50, headaches- none and down time- next to none. 2. Send the rod in for warranty. It will get looked at and eventually replaced. cost- insured shipping both ways plus time without rod, see option #1. I've done it both ways, and option 2 is usually cheaper but takes much longer. (several weeks) For a few extra bucks, the Xpediter is a NO brainer.

Most accurate scale?
many of the berkley or rapala digitals are quite good. If you want something very good, look at something like the salter... http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0011589014851a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntk=Products&QueryText=scale&sort=all&Go.y=0&_D%3AhasJS=+&N=0&Nty=1&hasJS=true&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form23&Go.x=0&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1

repair question
Almost all tackle shops carry the replacement tops... and most will install free with purchase of the tip top. (most tops will fall between $2-$10)
