  1. I need you to talk to my fiancee. I'm pleading for Belize for our honeymoon. Even without the fishing, I'd go back in a minute. We were in a very remote area though... jumper planes and SHORT, dirt runways. Like a series of carnival rides, just to get there!
  2. plan a bunch of trips back... you should be trouble free for about 5 more years. ...lol

I ordered Amtak titan ringlocks to use on my 9 wt that's in process and I'm so underwhelmed with the quality that i'm sending them all back. The "pre ground" feet look like a wood chipper hit them, some feet are considerably shorter than others from excessive grinding not to mention the vast amount of discoloration from overheating, the rings are not 90 degrees to the feet on 1/2 of them and the standing angles vary about 20 degrees between guides... and that's just comparing the running guides. The casting guides had issues of their own. > Just a waste of time and money, having to eat shipping and wait for new stuff to arrive. I should have gone with my first choice which was the Fuji Ti SiC's, but wanted to try something new. I had heard good things about these guides... I guess I got a run that was manufactured on a friday afternoon at about 4:56 pm. Had to vent.
  4. Best of luck to you newlyweds! (and soon to be newlyweds!) It was 8 years ago tomorrow, I landed in Belize (with a flyrod in one hand and my new brides hand in the other!!) on my honeymoon... would love to go back again!!
  5. Hey Muddy, Any coincidence that none of your list is on Atkins?
  6. A few different threads mentioned braid's sensitivity and I think there is a little confusion, so rather than go off topic in those, we'll start over. The following is just my opinion. Everyone says that braid is so sensitive. While that's true, I think it's misunderstood by many and here is why... Braid amplifies everything equally... your bite is still as subtle (or as big) as it was when compared to hitting a rock, stick, grass, etc. So unless you just had trouble feeling things in general, braid rarely adds to your fish count. You'll still be unsure if it was a stick or a fish, you'll just feel it "louder" or more pronounced. Now for those that don't have very sensitive hands, I agree that a higher "volume" alone can be helpful. If it made a real difference in fish catching, every tourney angler on earth would use it and no one with mono could ever win. Having said all that, I do think braid does have advantages in certain applications, it's just not the universal cure.
  7. Thanks for the mention, Muddy- but with the baby here, I'm not able to take any orders for a while. Hopefully I'll be back on a limited basis, later this year. stryk9, Eddie (ejtaylor) would be on my short list of people to contact if I was making a recommendation...
  8. No matter the country of origin or the reason, I'm against illegal immigration and believe they should be deported immediately. Anything less is a slap in the face of those millions of the millions of immigrants who went through all the red tape and BS. Not to mention, it's illegal and anything but deportation or jail simply encourages the continued inflow.
  9. They werent handing out 10,000 dollars at Ellis Island though were they? That exactly what I was going to post! and I'm pretty sure the boatload had no intention of heading over to the immigration office to let them know they had arrived. :
  10. It's not just Homeland Security... it's lots of others. I had to renew my real estate license last month and guess what? Yup, I was fingerprinted for that as well. I don't care, my prints are already on file. : (for legit reasons)
  11. In short- law suits. Sadly, people sue all the time for the actions of employees, or volunteers... and they sue the one with the money. He doesn't know if you are a model citizen or an ax murderer or child molester.
  12. Kent, Like you, I bought one just to try it out. (when they came out) I was also pleasantly surprised with it- enough so that I bought a second 200 E7. At $150 I don't think I've seen a reel that really competes with these. I'll give Shimano the benefit of the doubt on longevity based on the fact that almost all of their reels have had it. I doubt I'll be proved wrong. Can't wait to see what comes out at ICAST... I have a little reel money saved up ;D
  13. For anyone wondering, I have used Denny Radziewics for service on JDM reels, I wouldn't hesitate to use him again. (and just for the record, ReelMech will get any domestic work I can't handle!)
  14. how old is your line? Any mono line will develop memory, some worse than others. Try a fresh spool of your brand with some KVD L&L on it. Or drop down one size to #17 and there should be a noticeable difference. Drop a size and use KVD, you should see a huge difference. I switched from #20 to #17 XT a while back and the difference (with no line conditioner) was big.
  15. Hey muddy, I just got fitted for a new tournament outfit. It's spiffy and provides UV protection as well. I think it will double nicely for both bass and crappie fishing. What do you think?
  16. That's too bad... almost all of this site's sponsors have a stellar reputation. I'm surprised to see that of the 4 people that bought from them and posted here so far, 2 of the 4 had less than great experiences.
  17. a buddy used to wade like that and he just put all his hard baits into a single plano box and slid it in between the waders and his stomach (or back) He put soft plastics into the wader's own pockets. (you just have to carry less stuff with you)
  18. No leakage yet, thank goodness. I guess I need to take it with me to boat storage and keep it in the fridge.
  19. Simp, why not pour a teeny bit of clear jj's into the rage package before you go out and then you have all of them treated and if you feel the need to re-apply, you can dip your bait back into the package. ______________________________________ off topic kind of so sorry but not wanting to start another thread for a quick question about jj's. what was the issue with heat? I know it's supposed to be stored in a cool place.... and somehow I forgot about mine and found it in the garage last night. (it's been about 110+ in there for a week) _______________________________________ if jj's ate through plastic, and that's why it's in a glass jar, why do the jars have plastic lids? :-? Maybe the lid is a special plastic?
  20. I been called worse! And yes, please keep wearing the shorts... for that matter PULL THEM UP A LITTLE HIGHER!!! ;D ;D There are some questionable pics of you around here already!! I'm not what people usually call light skinned, but I guess we're just closer to the sun down here. ...lol
  21. Power and action will change... If you just lost an inch or two, it might still feel ok... if not, you might like it for something else. Either way, you'll need to put a new tip top on it and see what it feels like. Any tackle shop should have tips in stock in various sizes... and 99% of them will install it if you buy the tip.
  22. I'm old school... when storms are coming, I just unplug the plasma tv. It's on a surge protector but I just don't trust surge protectors much.
  23. GMAN, If you came out with a series of jigs with a little fur on them you would probably make a lot of money in the BassResource.com novelty arena. ;D
  24. Towing a light aluminum boat on a little trailer like you suggest, could be under 500 lbs total, even with gear... the car doesn't know if that 500 lbs is passengers or a trailer. (and the suspension probably would appreciate the trailer.) ...lol
