  1. I was taught from people who always ate fish... you can keep them iced as long as the gills remain red, the fish is good... but once they turn milky, the fish has spoiled. I've never had one spoil while in ice.
  2. *** has a 6" floating worm.
  3. All records have the caveat that they must be caught legally... no license is against the law so the fish doesn't count. it's that simple.
  4. I thought you were going to tell us a turtle was saying hello to the turtle head.
  5. Micro, Just wanted to say that's one of the best comparison posts I've ever seen. Thanks for taking the time to write all that out... it was written so well that I'm actually considering a Zillion now. ...lol
  6. Reel Mech is right, however the good news is that replacing a guide is generally an inexpensive repair. Places I've seen range from $10-$15.
  7. I'm not a "shimano guy" really, they just have more reels that fit my list of desired features than anyone else... I have Daiwa's, Shimano's and Abu's in service at the moment. I just happen to have more shimano's than the others (at this moment) I'm set on the 100 size so that's not an issue.
  8. Well played!!
  9. Well, I certainly don't need one but I think I want one. ...lol If I get one, it will be the 100SHA. OK steez owners, what is the experience like? Provide me some motivation to sell a few rods...
  10. I haven't used that particular seat, we used to start with Fuji ECSM's and cut them into Tharp style seats ourselves. I've since decided I like a full seat better for comfort. I'm sure that seat is fine. I've seen a lot of good feedback on this one, though: http://www.swamplandtackle.com/products.asp?cat=34 and if you like it better either of you can order from swampland. (it's worth worrying about wholesale pricing on a $5 item.) ***My only suggestion for you is NOT to use the aluminum checks shown in the photo on the mudhole page. (unless you size them up a little) The chief complaint of Tharp style (skeletons) seats was that the rods broke at the front foot of the seat. The design allowed the blank to flex in between the seat area which created a pinch point under heavy load. (in a full length seat the grip and barrel ends of the seat are not in contact with the blank, there is a cork tennon and an arbor to keep from pinching the blank) A pinch point on a metal check is doom for a blank. So using a "softer" material allows a touch of give and will help to prevent a break in that spot. Hope that makes sense.
  11. That's great!! Congrats to her and all of you!
  12. I'm jealous! Your wearing a hooded sweatshirt with the hood up!! Dang... we were 96 degrees and humid yesterday. I also miss striper fishing!
  13. Bankruptcy in many cases only means creditors are going to lose some money... the company will not close up. I'm not afraid to buy GM, because of a possible bankruptcy. My last few trucks have been GMC's and I can say I have had very pleased with them. I might buy a toyota next time around, but it will be because a new toyota plant is going in, just down the road... and maybe some people I know will build it. ...lol
  14. I bet if you asked you could get the Government to bankroll you as a sample case study. Hmm.... Yes, Senator, I need a research grant. A few thousand should do.
  15. An earlier post got me thinking... after a quick google of a few of the name brands (cetaphil, jergens and lubriderm), ALL of them contain one or more of the following: Cetearyl alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol or Benzyl Alcohol Couldn't find the purpose of the alcohol, but I wasn't willing to read very much either. ...lol
  16. Really, it cost that much to "find out" why drunks participate in riskier behavior?? Wow! So many responses would be appropriate on this one... however, an appropriate response, is not necessarily an appropriate post! ;D
  17. I actually had a similar looking leak a few years ago. It "appeared" to be coming out the exhaust but it was just leaking through the cowling next to the exhaust port. I just had an old cracked fuel line between carbs. $14 worth of fuel line (replaced it all since it was all the same age) and it's been fine for years.
  18. and it's not orange? Interesting. ;D
  19. I think this is the difference between a tackle junkie and a hoarder... true tackle junkies, myself included, use it all... and appreciate it's every use. I agree 100% with Catt's rule but that's not what this is about. Being a tackle enthusiast and a good stick are completely independent of one another. I'll fish head to head with a mid 80's lightning rod and a second hand $30 abu reel... and still hang with most worm fishermen here. But the enjoyment I get out of a perfectly balanced, featherlight custom rod/50 MG combo is an experience in itself. Neither are wrong, just different. Just wanted to reiterate the highlighted portion.
  20. While I wholeheartedly agree that it's the angler, not the tools... you can handicap someone to death. Tough to work a crankbait on a cane pole. I would not enjoy a victory like that. Going head to head on unfamiliar water... that would be fun- win or lose.
  21. I wish I had a pic... My first "mobile" set up was an 81' honda civic 1500 (just bigger than a roller skate) with a yakima bike rack and a few ratcheting straps, holding a single wide 12' jon on top. The "hatchback" was so small that I had to put the trolling motor in the back seat! ...lol
  22. They are a great rod protector. I bought some from 5BL, the only difference I noticed was the little flare at the mouth... easily remedied in 15 seconds with a heat gun.
  23. That's odd, it's at the top of page 1 on my computer. :
  24. Step down in line size and troll it.
