organizing a tourney for 2009
I don't have any expertise in setting one up but if I were you, I'd hit the local tackle shops and get the big tourney fliers and start calling the folks that set them up... you'll probably get a lot of free advice (especially when you tell them it's a charity tourney for the Red Cross) just be sure to pick a date that they don't already have marked. I bet LBH and Art from C.A.S.T. would have some good info.

I'm a traitor.
That's a heck of a crash! ;D

Gblanks Rods?
That's a comment that a lot of people make, when they haven't actually used a Batson product. (especially the newer stuff) I'm only guessing you haven't used them so don't take offense to my comments. I think 95% of the people on this board would be pleasantly surprised if they fished a rod made on one of the RX7 or RX8 blanks. I had asked the same question directly to them... A well timed email from Larry provided this answer:

The "eyes" have it
That's what I remembered at lunch time and was coming back to post. He might even be able to get you a couple different sizes.

The "eyes" have it
You can find a few styles of doll eyes at a hobby lobby or mj designs type of store. I use doll eyes in some of the flies I tie. Lots of styles and sizes available. -keith

Fishing plastics. (Senko's and baby brush hawgs)
I fish the brush hogs as a weighted t-rig or on a c-rig. I've never fished them as a weightless t-rig but have seen my brother do it when fish were finicky. (worked for him) Don't be afraid to experiment a little... you never know, you might stumble onto something great.

Swivels
I only use them on a c-rig when bass fishing.

Daiwa megaforce plus reel!!!

Game Wardens...
I wish my experiences were as you posted. I always greet them with a smile and a "Hi, how are you doing today?" I'm not alone... most of my hunting and fishing friends have similar stories and experiences. I guess in balance, I should say that the sheriffs and local police I have run into while outdoors have generally been nice and would chat with me or talk fishing, etc. The Game Wardens I have run into seem to have the attitude that I must be guilty of something guilty and they are on a mission to prove it.

Game Wardens...
Game Wardens are a sore subject with me. In my lifetime, I have been checked no less than a dozen times while hunting or fishing. I can honestly say I have only had one even come close to being polite or courteous. I don't care if he's the only Warden in the area, being a jerk won't make it any better. When someone smiles, extends common courtesies, and complies with each request, at least they could say have a nice day as they leave, or thank you for your cooperation. When they bang into your boat with their (sharp edged, abused, aluminum) boat at 5-8mph and leave permanent gouges in the fiberglass and then threaten to haul you in for not assisting them in tying up, I'll chalk it up to a bad day. But then when they board your boat and rummage through it while banging up high dollar gear and stepping on rods, barking orders to produce all kinds of stuff that was already laid out on the deck for their inspection.... Is there any reason not to gently lay down a gun after inspection? I don't mind them checking my guns... but putting a scratch on a gun or the hood of my pick up because they aren't a little careful is crossing the line. There is no excuse for that kind of interaction with the public. Rant over.

Is it ignorance or laziness?
The funny thing here is that several people brought up members who speak English as a second or third language... most of the members whose first language is NOT English, do better than many who only speak English. I'm certainly not a great writer but an effort is made to keep things legible.

Great Deal On Yo-Zuri Ultra Soft
Most lines are labeled under the actual break strength. However, many are accurately labeled to coincide with published knot breaking points... Some people say it's to brag on break strength and other say it's to accurately advertise knot strength- which would equate to break strength in use.

PLEASE READ THE FAQ'S!!!
Next you'll ask them to use the search function... and then we'll have nothing left to talk about except brand new products! And for the record... my younger brother was a very successful banjo minnow user. You keep locking the threads before I can be the one poster to have ever seen them work.

BR Enhancements
I just tried the "Ctrl" + on the work computer. Works great! However, it throws everything out of proportion. The bigger monitor was not really a joke... I still have 20/20 vision but I sure like the larger monitor.

Vet visit
I don't think vet bills are too expensive... think about it, you are paying cash for medical services. If you paid monthly health insurance premiums on your pet, the office visit vet bills would be low but you would be paying every month. By the way, insurance is available for your pets. But I'll keep the monthly premiums in my pocket and pay the office visits occasionally. Just like a Doctor... find a vet you like and trust.

Time for a bigger monitor?

Plasma, worth it or not?
Catt, My plasma TV gets so hot, it will almost burn you if you touch it. It actually keeps that side of the den a few degrees warmer.... which is no good 10 months of the year. I won't buy another plasma for that reason alone. Besides, the other technologies have pictures just as good or even better depending on size and model.

Fished w/two of America's bravest
That's great! I haven't fished with Brian yet, but it's on my list of things to do! (especially since I'm only 15 minutes from Stillhouse) I have a deep respect for all of the service men and women.... I didn't know you were in the area... Stillhouse is a cool place. Our bite has been deeper than you fished, even at night. Most of our fish have been in 25' or deeper. You don't get used to it. ...lol my 5th year down here and I still shake my head each time I see it.

Well, how are your gas prices now?
Saw $3.79 at lunch... that's down $0.15 in 2 days. First time I have seen prices drop more than a penny or two at a time. Hope it keeps dropping... in fact, with no disrespect to the oil business, I hope the market goes back to "normal,"where it was a couple years ago.

Even resin application
No it wouldn't because the paint would seal the outside of the wood... and the acetone would probably destroy the paint. you could paint over the epoxy job, but that's a little extra work on the paint job. Might be worth it for swimbaits but I doubt it for regular crankbaits. I didn't think about paint jobs before I posted. Oh well, the advice is worth what you paid for it! ...lol

Ideas on replacing tail on a big plug?
use part of a super fluke, large sassy shad or any torn up soft swimbait and super glue in place.

USPS.......................again
That's what I was thinking, also. Insurance is mandatory... with ANY carrier these days.
